I recently bought an SD card because I'm having storage problems on my wii.

However, I try to copy the game to the SD, and it works. However, every time I download something from the wii shop channel it will automatically save it onto my wii. Basically, my SD card isnt helping me out. Plus, I experimented something. Since I have finished LostWinds, I decided to first copy the save data to the SD card, then delete it from the Wii system memory. When I went into LostWinds, my save files were all gone.

I know this is nooby, but could you please tell me how to use an SD card to actually save space on your wii?

THANKS

You have to move it to and from your SD card to the Wii

Everything you decribed is how the Wii works, there is nothing you can do to change it.

You can't make games and save data auto save on to your SD card. You have to move it all there manually. Every time you buy a new wiiware or VC game you'll have to move somthing on to the SD card if you want to save space. The point of it is to have a place to store games you bought that you're currently not playing. Also when you play a game like lost winds for example it won't detect your save data if its not on the wii itself. However, if you have a nintendo.com account linked to your wii shop channel then you can simply redownload the games you previously bought.

The Wii is like a fridge and an SD card is like a cooler. A cooler whose contents you can't access until you put them in the fridge.

Stock everything. However, you have to transfer the copy on the flash memory to play a VC or a Wiiware game.

Theres a storage option that is for save files and for channels. The save file is only 1 block and its your game data so keep that. Delete the channel and everything will be fine if you decide to download in again.
