Before everyone thinks im going mad, but everyone in this forum is wanting a HDD for the wii.

I would say i would if we had DLC in alot of online games and i would download more VC games if there was, but that is becide the point.

There is probably more chance of there being a firmware update to run things from the SD card slot than us all getting what we want which is the hdd but then i got thinking.

what would people think if we were able to use SDhc cards in the sd slot as i found online they are already upto 16gb (i may be wrong). then we would all get what we are wanting.

besides some people are saying the hdd should be the stand, but not everyone uses the wii uprite.

I know what most people are gonna vote in the poll i put in this but hay i may be wrong.

To me, it would all depend on how much storage my device has, and how much it costs to buy. My main point in deciding what to go with is price. For sdhc cards, I just considered normal ones. For hard drive considerations, I was just thinking about USB hard drives; flash drives or external hdds you could hook up to the back of your Wii via plug...nothing that would make you ship your Wii to Nintendo for installation.

I just scouted around Google for price ranges. Except in a couple of cases, the 16gb sdhcs were generally in the $60 to $80 range, if you knew where to look. Some were priced between $150 to $330, but I think in those cases, you pay for the name brand. In that same 60 to 80 dollar price range, you can get USB hard drives that go between 40gbs and 160gbs. Pay a little more (10 to 15 bucks), and you can get a 400gb one. Again, you have to know where to look.

So I'd have to say if that if I really wanted the storage, I'd go with a USB hard drive over an sdhc. However, if I just need a few gbs to store some DLC or VC games, I'd go with a 4gb sdhc that I could pick up for about $25. That seems like the smarter buy to me; the Wii might not even recognize any storage devices over 16gb, IF we ever got such a firmware update to begin with! I know right now it only accepts SD cards up to 2gbs, or 4gbs in some cases.

I'd like to have both options. Either the use of an SD card OR a USB hard drive. I'd like the ability to be able to play VC games and load saved data right from my SD card. Right now its pretty much pointless. Yay, I can MOVE stuff to my SD card for backup purposes, but not for additional storage capacity. I know the bandwidth is there, I dont know why they dont make an update for that. Solid state memory is fast :)
