My starter pokemon is Prinlup at level 24 and my second strongest one is Luxio at 23. The only flying move that prinlup knows is peck, and it doesn't seem to be doing much damage against the leader's grass type pokemon. Luxio isn't doing much damage either. If only I had a fire type or some type that is effective against that gym leader.

The problem is that the only pokemon I've encountered up to this point are either grass or rock which doesn't help in any way.

What can I do?

Uhh, what about STARLY??? It would be a staravia, maybe a staraptor (forget evolution levels now), and would single-handedly take down Gardenia. Otherwise, try using some of Luxio and Prinplups other moves...

Peck is a flying move, and I used it on the leader's pokemon, but it doesn't do much damage. It doesn't seem like flying pokemon help.

Thats because Peck has a power of 35, while Wing Attack has a power of 60. Also, Prinplup is not part flying, so Peck doesnt have STAB. On a Staravia, which is flying, flying moves will be increased by 50%. So unlike Pecks 35, wing attack will be 60 + 50% = 90, so 55 more power. My Staravia was something like level 17, and I crushed Gardenia with wing attack.

a flying pokemon using a flying move will do more damage than a non-flying pokemon using the same move, plus Staravia learns much more powerful flying attacks then peck. Another option is to go back to Oreburgh and just north of there is wild Ponyta's

Just do some grinding. My Prinplup was at level 35 when I was at that gym. Peck took out everyone in one shot.

The same applies to me; In the patch of grass north of Oreburgh, you can find PONTYA there; they're fire types, meaning grass moves won't do much to them. Catch one and make use of it.

Catch a ponyta or starly and you'll be laughing. Even any old bug type should do the trick (as along as it has evolved once or twice).

I demolished that gym with my Alakazam that I caught as an Abra outside of Jublife. I think he took everyone out in one move. Although, training an Abra from 4 to 16 is kind of tedious.. just go for the Staravia.

I found a ponyta on my way there Im sure if u spend some time in the highgrass near the city or on the ones just outside it ( i mean outiside where you go to the next city after getting the medal and stuff).. I leveled up that baby and breezed thorugh my second medal with one hit kills on everyoneincluding the gym leaders last poke, my ponyta was 21 or22 when i faced them but Im guessing even a 15, 16 or even lower would have a really easy time beating all of them but the GL last one...

You could catch a Heracross they learn the move aerial ace at level 13 and even if it's not a flying type aerial ace is a physical move and a heracross major in physical attacks.
