Wow, here I was, thinking the game was pretty much done.
September? What else do they still need to do that will take 4+ months?
Well I'm glad they're not rushing it, I suppose.
Am I missing something about this game? Everyone seems to be excited about it, it just looks like a 2d sidescroller hack'n'slash :-/
Is it supposed to have a good story? Be innovative? Or is based on an Anime show people follow or??
Not trying to sound like I'm bashing it, I just don't understand what the excitement is for it:-/
Probably translation? Anyway, veeeeery relieved. Thank you, TC! (Btw, wikipedia sez that Ignition hired Shane from 1UP. They're taking everything good away from other companies. ;) )Wow, here I was, thinking the game was pretty much done.

lack of dual language in the key features list seriously worries me. I wanna play this in Japanese with subtitles and all the more reason to have it considering the setting. Was hoping for Atlus to pick this up, I wouldn't be worried about that with them as I'm sure they would've put that option in like they did with OS.

I don't get it either, but this is good news for the fans. All you need to know is right there in the link. These devs made Odin Sphere, which has a cult following, and the game looks gorgeous and has sharp controls, and cool enemies that are challenging to fight. Watch some videos of it. And if you see -Oath around on this forum, ask him how he likes the game.Am I missing something about this game? It just so happens to be that Muramasa looks like a freaking awesome 2D sidescroller hack'n'slash.

I looked at the link and videos/screens but... I just dont get it? It looks good for a 2D game, but (In my humble opinion) Okami looks a lot better in its 3d goodness. Sharp controls should be standard in a side-scroller, since you dont exactly have a ton of movement options available, like I said I just don't get the excitement.. glad for you guys following it that it's coming to the US, I guess I am just not keen on Japanese games:-/

Gross oversimplification, Halo and Zelda set themselves apart from "just another ____" every game in their series. Which is why I asked for what sets Muramasa apart, because I just dont see it like everyone else seems to:-/
Yes!!!
For a minute I thought it would never come to NA after that annoucement last night that it wasn't going to be published. The good news is that its around my birthday but at the same time, the school year begins so I won't beat it in one week if its as long as Odin Sphere.
EDIT: The dual language would have been nice since Odin Sphere had it and the setting would make sensein Japanese. Oh well. The voice acting in Odin Sphere was ok so I'm not too worried about it as long as the game comes to NA.

Not really, Halo sets itself apart mostly by its story and settings, beyond that its gameplay is incredibly similar to many other FPS titles out there. Zelda is a bit harder to classify, as really only Okami attempted its style recently, but its a fair comparison. This is a 2D sidescroller/slash-em-up/rpg with a heavy focus on traditional Japanese mythology. Developer loyalty is playing a big role here along with its stellar 2D visuals. People seem to like the distinct flavor Vanillaware offers. Its really no different than getting excited over a new installment in your favorite series. All you need to know is right there in the link. Would you like some innovative gimmick tacked on to justify it? Some people just appreciate a game with beautiful art direction, challenging enemies, and fun, deep gameplay. No-one really knows any more about the game than that at this point.Sept?! Thats a long time from now. Way too long. By the time it comes out so will Ratchet and Clank and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.
Don't get the hype up again people. If it comes out in September in US then that's awesome and we'll be grateful for the US release (due to the fact that most of us will buy it) but just don't get hyped too much so if something else happens, you won't be majorly disappointed. Besides that, thanks for the great news TC.

ok what happens is that for you 3d is automatically better looking, but not for a lot of people. Is just a different type of visuals, many 2d games look better than 3d ones, and many fighting games stick to hand made animation because of that. Halo didnt set apart from anything by the way, it was just a good executed shooter without compromising flaws in any particular area.It was a very well done generic game , no ground breaking whatsoever. Imagine muramasa as something of the sort, a very well executed 2d action game, in terms of gameplay, story, visuals, sound, etc. And then subtract the fact that for most of it audience, the 3d element is little to none important. And Halo just looks like a first-person shooter. Zelda just looks like an action/adventure.[QUOTE="Litchie"]

It's pretty easy to call Halo just another shooter. In fact that defines the series. Muramasa sets itself far apart from other games. I actually cannot name a single 2D hack and slash. Are there many in existance?
Good news indeed, September is a ways off but ill have quite a few games to play around the summer so its not too bad since it will definitely be worth the wait.

What does Okami have to do with anything? That's a completely different game/genre. That's like asking what's so special about Barrack Obama and then bringing up how great of a tennis player Andre Agassi was. Muramasa is what it is. If you're not into that type of game, then so be it. Just what are you not getting? That people enjoy games that you don't?Am I missing something about this game? When was the last time, you saw a good 2D hack n slash? Thats why, its a classic genre that is all but dead and Murumasa seems like a solid revival. Can't believe this game isn't getting more fan reaction. IGN's latest footage looks absolutely stunning. http://wii.ign.com/articles/101/1012109p1.html
Sadly, this game will probably be in the bargain bin for $19.99 by the time the holidays roll around.

Isn't that what you are supposed to do instead of creating an all-new thread?
You could basically say that about any game. Why do people want SMG2? Same as the last game really. Isn't Punch-Out just a superficial facelift of a 20 year old game as well? As other said, this game isfrom the makers of thehighly acclaimed game Odin Sphere. It's very action packed with loads of enemies and beautiful graphics and seems to have everything put together well.Am I missing something about this game? Have you play Odin sphere? if not... well is a 2D RPG-like, that if the load time where no so freaking annoying it would have being GREAT... This game has the same concept (minus the load I hope), the art is amazing.... That is what have me excited :)
btw: I love the idea that It seems they have left the JP voice act :)
