I saw that Gamestop is selling used Wiis for pretty cheap now. But I have heard bad things about buying used systems from there. Are the used systems from there usually in bad condition, or are those exceptions and the systems are usually legit. My other options would be ebay, craigslist, and amazon, and I'm really hesitant to buy a console from either of those places since you really don't know who you're buying it from.

If its in bad condition, get a refund...

I don't see the problem here.

Not you, specifically, I just post when I see threads.

Should I start ignoring your threads?

Used Wiis are cheaper, and the New Wii aren't backwards compatable.

There are many, many, MANY new backwards compatible Wii's still in stock in stores, trust me :P And with the lens and fan issues Wii's are prone to getting, you're much better off just getting a new one. The console is a relatively cheap investment compared to what you'll spend on games, so you might as well make it something that isn't going to cost you more money later because you got cheap :P

Well, I always buy games used, and I never spend more than $30 on a game. What stores still carry New BC Wiis?

As long as you know its working its all good. One of the things I love about nintendo is that their consoles are built to last. My super nintendo, 64 and pre-owned gamecube are still alive to this day. However I have two broken xbox 360s so I've given up on microsoft D:

Haven't seen any of the new non BC systems - even the blue version here in EU is BC. A friend of mine will get a new Wii today since it's cheaper than buying a used one. I would get a new one since I don't trust Gamestop, but I'm pretty sure they have a warranty so it' shouldn't be a problem to get a refund if it brakes down.

You can get replacement laser with the triwing for only $10. If you know how to use a screwdriver buy a used 1. If you don't buy a new 1. The laser has a limited life.

Hey, guys, I ended up buying a used Wii from Gamestop yesterday. It was only $80. I also got SMG with it for ~$20. It seems to be working fine, and it comes with a 1 year warranty. One thing though. When I'm playing SMG, the cursor won't go to the top right corner, but when I'm navigating the Wii menu, everything's fine. Is there a bug in SMG or something?

I wouldn't buy anything second hand unless it was a car or house. With the Wii, just knowing that someone else's filthy hands have been on it, no thanks. Who knows where those hands were before they got to the Wii remote.

Not paranoid. People wipe their bums and then use their consoles all the time, without washing their hands. Happens all the time. If you're cool with that, go and grab a second hand console. But I'd prefer a new one.

I personally wouldn't have a lot of reservations about a used Wii, like I would a used Xbox 360. I would certainly ask to see one to check on the exterior condition.
