Hey all, I loved nintendo games as a kid like super mario and mario kart and such. I have been thinking about buying a wii to get that old feeling back I used to get from those games. I am interested mostly in mario kart, super smash bros., zelda, and a few others. I have mostly been playing pc games the past couple years and am used to mostly awesome graphics and immersion. Would a wii be good buy for me or would I never use it ? Ty for any input.

The original nintendo games that you loved only last for about a few weeks. Mostly no replay value. And you would probably end up not using it the console after you beaten its few games.

So IMO, no.

If you played Nintendo games when you were younger, then you'll definitely enjoy Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Mario Kart Wii - though I personally prefer the Excite franchise in terms of racing...although it's not 4-player local multiplayer, so it depends on what you want. There are also a lot of other very good games that fit the Wii very well, if you know where to look. By that I mean good, complete experiences that take advantage of the controller well (but don't put in waggle where it doesn't belong) for a really unique experience.

Games like No More Heroes, de Blob, Zack and Wiki: The Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, Super Paper Mario, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption are all games that are unique to the Wii - not just because they're exclusives, but just because developers don't make these kind of games for other systems. That's why I personally enjoy the Wii

It depends on your game tastes, though. If you're mostly into epic RPGs, first-person shooters, sports games, and realistic racers, then I'd recommend getting an Xbox 360 or PS3. But the Wii has a very well-rounded library of other types of games.

I would say yeah it is worth it. It's a great console with great games. I own a 360 and ps3 and the wii gets just as much play time as those. The virtual console has some excellent games on it but I do agree that they do lack replay value. When all is said and done I don't regret my purchase even a little. The really great games are a little slow coming out but if you are just getting into it now that shouldn't be a problem as there are quite a few out there now.

It really depends. If you are a hardcore gamer who has alot of games and beats them in a short amount of time. Then, no. If you ejoy games and tend to take time to appreciate then. Then, yes. The only problem with the Wii is the lack of 3rd party titles. However, siince you said you enjoyed the older Nintendo games, there;s also Virtual Console to take up a good amount of time. Overall, I think you should own one.

i deffinetly agree with Falco_648, i loved playing nintendo 64 when i was a kid, but if you want to keep the love for nintendo games DON'T buy the wii. Im soooooo dissapointed in the wii, it has like 4 great games, 4 good and what's left is crap

great: Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros, Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Kart

decent: Wario Land Shake It, House of the Dead Overkill, Resident Evil Umbrella Cronicles, Call of Duty 5

3rd party developers don't even try at all to make a good game, they just give us 1/4 of what's supose to be a game, and even Nintendo is not trying hard. Super Mario 64 is waaaay better that Galaxy, and that was supose to be their "best" game. Untill any good games come out don't buy it... atleast The Conduit and Monster Hunter 3 look good....

I would imagine that you would not only enjoy current generation 1st party games, but you could also enjoy GC games you may have missed while playing only PC as well as the vast number of classics available to you for very cheap on the Virtual Console. If the sound of that appeals to you, maybe you should. That having been said, the only person who can make that decision is you.

I agree with this completely. You can also add to the list of "decent" games- Madworld and World of Goo. Other than that, the Wii has been a pretty big disappointment. I'm still glad I own it though. Zelda TP is amazing, and Galaxy may be the best game I have played this gen. Also, the virtual console has allowed me to revisit Super Mario World, Mega Man 2, and Donkey Kong Country. However, I get way more play out of my other console than the Wii. I am hoping Nintendo will get on the ball and release a DK, Star Fox, or F-Zero title soon.

so No more heroes is not even a decent game, despite gamespot, metacritics and pretty much the whole world.See?when your opinion has such a huge flaw its impossible not to realize your bias. Not to mention Okami,DC or Tenchu, and so fort(do you really want me to keep going?is easy). Is like wearing a shirt that says:I love to lie and spread false statements. If he liked the n64 you shouldnt really have problems with the wii.Complaining of the "few" wii games while the n64 had even less is as ridiculous as it gets.

if ure going in expecting PS3 and 360 type games then no, it will dissapoint u. if ure going in with an open mind and are prepared to take a few risks on types of games u wouldnt normally play then the wii is a great choice. a simple test...have a look at a game called endless ocean. if endless ocean has absolutely no appeal to you then spend the money elsewhere. if it does sound interesting then u and the wii will get on nicely. obhiosuly the wii doesent do HD and is just a little more powerful than an xbox 1. if thats a big off for u then also spend ure money else where. however as a fellow PC gamer, i think the wii is the best complimentary system for the PC. im currently enjoying little kings story.

Same here. Also since you only have a pc you could guitar hero or rock band. And it doesn't say resident evil 4 on there, I'd get that if I were you. It doesn't have any replay value for me but it's great the first time around.

just to remember, wii graphs sux ( they are not bad but they are old ) and the motion sensor REALLY sux ( please motion +, work well )

Mario galaxy, Zelda , mario kart, excitebots, smash bros and metroid are the best games on the console. In my opinion Mario galaxy is one of the best games i ever played if it isnt the best but there isnt much of a replay value.

If i were you i would get it but if you dont have a good computer xbox 360 its a way better choice

If you are looking for nostalgia, it might be good for you. If you miss some older Nintendo games, it could be for you (check to see if the ones you want are even available, first). But once you are done with those, I found that it didn't have much to offer me. If you are looking for FPS, TPS, RPG, or fleshed-out stories and characters, then avoid it as there is a severe shortage of those, especially quality ones.

Oh yeah. If you're looking into itfor Nintendo's first party games then yes--they're all great. The graphics aren't PC quality, but there's some unique gameplay. I also think you might be impressed with metroid prime 3. Easily the most immersive 1st person game I've ever played.

I don't agree with this. I played old NES games hundreds of times without getting bored of them. I played Super Mario Galaxy like twice and never picked it up again because I hated it so much. So your arguement doesn't hold water.

No, you will not get that old Nintendo feeling with the Wii. However, if you buy a Wii soleley for virtual console games, then you might enjoy that a lot.

Honestly, no. Going from a game like Crysis to the whimsical world of 800 MHz (when you actually care, that is) is really an eye-opener, and not in a good way. You'll probably play a couple of the games that are out, get the complete experience of those games (3-8 games) and then let it acquire dust, waiting months for a single good release to maybe play. These are not the SNES days anymore, i'm sorry to say. It's pretty grim and heartbreaking. I still like my mario games, but wow... where has the love gone?

Is a bit funny when players finally get their eyes opened years late.Ive been playing hi end games way before this generation was released, so those consoles didnt open anything for me(and their proccesing power certainly didnt oogie boogie me).It might be my age or experience. On the other hand, wii did offer me some plain old school fun with plenty of straight-to-the-deal games ala oldschool, such as Mkart, No more heroes, M prime3 ,specially Wario Shake it!, and a dozen more.Crysis on the other hand ,was another experience ive had for a decade.

It may be a bit cheap and lazy to say this, but I'd say the best thing for you to do is do some research on the games. Not so much the first party games that you're already interested in, because most of those will probably satisfy your tastes in games, but the games that you're not interested in because you don't know much about them. See if there are games you might want to check out in there. So many of the games on the Wii are more niche games, and some will love, and some won't really care for. This includes some of Nintendo's first party games as well (ExciteTrucks/ExciteBots for example). For me, there are a lot of games that I'm looking forward to, a lot of games that are already out which I haven't gotten yet, and of the games that I do own, I like most of them to varying degrees. The same won't be true of everybody though. For me, what I like most about the Wii is that it satisfies part of my broad taste in gaming that other consoles don't satisfy that much. The games that are more based on being just pure fun, like platformers, puzzle games, and other more simple games that don't need deep stories or HD graphics because that's not what they're about. If you're into those kinds of games like FPS games, RPGs, and other more "hardcore" genres, then the Wii might not be for you. Though there have been a lot more interesting upcoming RPGs for the Wii lately, but not as much as there have been for, say, the 360 and DS, at least it's a start. Anyway, it just basically comes down to tastes in games, and again, you should check out some of the games that are out, and coming out, and see if they appeal to you.

i noticed something VERY wierd, if you actully buy games, you will play more.

i know you will just buy 8-10 if you look at the reviews, but then agen, did ya ever buy AAA ps2 titles? if so, did ya buy gamespots all favorit tony hawk?

well then you know how important it is to look at the 9.0+ titles :P

i woudnt buy a wii, thats bearly cuz i allready got one :)

and i lOVE it.
