Hey everyone, I have been thinking about buying a nintendo 3DS. I have a DS lite, but the 3DS seems cool. I have never even touched the 3DS so I dont know if I would like it much or not, is it worth the $169.99? Or is it essentially the same thing as the DS lite? I would be buying the 3DS and the resident evil game to go with it...

Check the library. If there are enough games you want, then buy it. If not, don't.

I would say that it would be based on 2 things: 1) Unless you are dying to play something, hold out until e3. A new model may be releasing, and you will get a good idea of the games coming out for the next 18 months. 2) How much did you use your DS lite? Did you play all the DS games you wanted to play? If so, then the 3DS won't offer you tons upon tons. Don't get me wrong, there are good games, but at this point, only a handful that I would consider must-haves, and of those, not many of them will last you very long. However, if you never played games like Dragon Quest IX, FFIV, Legend of Zelda: ST and PH, then feel free to upgrade and work your way back through the amazing DS library (which is what I am doing) All in all, I bought my 3DS on impulse. At first it was an amazing decision, because it came with Legend of Zelda which i love. However, after barreling through Zelda, Resident Evil, Super Mario 3D Land and Star Fox, I found my system lacking for content. I hit a slight lull, and I considered trading in my 3DS. Then i went back to the old DS library, picked up Dragon Quest IX for like 17 bucks, and I have put 13 hours into it in the last 2 days. For me, one of the biggest draws of the 3DS is the awesome games from the previous system that I never got to play. Hope that helps.

Buying a whole system just for one game isn't really too economical imo. If I buy a system, I usally plan to get at least 5 or 10 games if not more. Considering that the 3ds only has a couple decent games(Resident Evil included), I wouldn't waste my time with it. Not to mention there's the issue of the 3ds getting scratches on the sides of the top screen because of a design flaw. That really gets on my nerves. Other than that, it's a pretty solid system, it's just lacking in decent games.

My ds collected dust but I been playing my 3ds a ton. I am 28 hours into tales of the abyss, but it's not really a lack of interest in my ds but more of change in my time to sit in front of tv on a console.

I never owned a DS, and now that I have a 3DS I actually own more original ds games than 3ds games. I play it constantly and a big selling factor for me was the ability to buy cheap used games for the DS i never got to play
