I haven't played Prime 2 in forever, I got to the part where you need to travel around to unlock the last elevator or something and just kind of gave up because I couldn't find the relics or whatever it was needed. Should I try to finish up Prime 2 before I get into Prime3?

I think you should finish it first cuz I remember the last battle being pretty cool but if you rather just skip on ahead to Metriod Prime 3, go on ahead because all you'd miss is the final battle and thats about it.

It's not really necessary. The Metroid Primes are extremely disjoint in terms of story and whatnot; you don't need to finish one to enjoy the next.

My best friend (Irve on here) has laid down the law and told me to complete Prime and Prime 2 before even thinking about buying Corruption - do you think he is right?

I would say that it wouldn't hurt because both Prime 1 and 2 are great games, but I wouldn't call it a necessity. You won't be missing anything.

You dont have to. I never finished Prime 1 and i havent finished Prime 2, let alone got into it (my friend said its not as good as 1, i tried it, agreed) so i just skipped it to 3.

You will miss a minor part of the storyline, but you will be fine. But I guess you should play it because it is awesome, it may be the weakest of the whole series but it is a masterpiece nonetheless.

You should finish it so you can have the satisfaction of beating it. You don't need to finish it for MP3 to make sense.

Well, metroid is one of my fav series of all time...and it does kinda bother me that I haven't finished Prime 2 yet, especially since I am at the end. It's good to know it doesn't really need to be beaten to enjoy Prime 3. So I guess I'll see if I can unlock that last elevator, thanks for your input.

Well.. to me the reason for playing part 1 and 2.. is to learn all the terms, and elements of the game.. for instance.. If you skip part 1.. you would never now what Metroids are.. when you play Echoes, and when they refer to Talon metroids and stuff.. there are many parts that you wont understand... so..for me.. the best choice would be playing trought all of them.. because, any way, the Second Part is also great... and as you have it in your possesion... it wont cost you a thing.

exactly. and you won't have any idea who dark samus (metroid prime) is and what phazon is either or even the concept of hypermode (which was introduced in prime 1 when fighting prime at the end). instead of just saying "cool there is dark samus, i guess i have to kill it at the end" wouldn't you wanna know the details and the built up towards why you have to fight it?

You don't need to know where Dark Samus came from to know she is you enemy. You can scan everything in MP3 and it will fill in a lot of the back story for you.

well technically any game can be enjoyed regardless of what caqme before. It just depends on how much involved you wanna get into a story or know more about the characters. Like Halo 3, if you have not played both Halo 1 & 2 then you wont know what the hell is going on because its a story arc. That does not mean you cant just go through it and not have fun.

If it was necessary to do so then you should also play all the old NES/SNES Metroids to fully appreciate the entirety of the story. Essentially, no.

The thing is; after You play Metroid 3 You may never want to finish up 2 again.
That's my experience anyway. 3 was cool, i couldn't go back with controls and gameplay flow.

With that in mind, just look at what You want most.
1,5 metroid primes in a row would be a bit much for me.
