Should I get a 3DS or a Wii U?

wait for the "new" 3DS next year...i think it comes out on march.

Well, if the new "new" 3ds wasn't coming out, I'd definitely say 3ds because it has the best game library this generation so far, other than PC. But, since the "new" 3DS should be released sometime in 2015, it would be an unwise decision to purchase one currently, especially since there aren't 2 or 3 games that entice you to this particular piece of hardware. If you just want to experience "dah smash n dee kart" then definitely get the Wii U.

Wii U is the way to go. I'd wait until the 'New' 3DS comes out if you're really inclined to get a 3DS. Otherwise the time to buy a Wii U is now.

Like others have said, if you want a 3ds, wait for the newer version to come out.

Well the 3ds has a lot more games and I've played a lot of it. On the Wii U the only game I've been playing is Smash Bros.

So if you are in a hurry I'd recommend the 3ds.

I think a Wii U would be the smarter decision longterm because of the new 3ds model.

3DS. Both are backwards compatible but I'd say the combined 3DS and DS library is definitely better than the WiiU and Wii library. Or hold off if the new 3DS model is something that really interests you.

Waiting for the New 3DS is your best bet.

You said yourself that you're most interested in Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8. Not sure why you're asking what to get when you know what you want. If you like Nintendo games though, you kinda need both. I'd suggest getting a Wii-U, then check out the 3DS library, and maybe get one when the new model comes out. I believe that'll be their last 3DS model.

Wii U, it's an actual console, 3DS is awesome but a portable. Both have similar libraries, but as stated the one thing to keep in mind is the new 3DS that will come out although I'm not seeing an actual release date, it's out in Japan so only a matter of time. No wii u remodels in sight, so go ahead and put out the extra $100 and get the bundled wii u that includes Mario land. Awesome game!

can you wait to buy next year ? i guess you can't wait to play it for now.lol .but i think you can buy wii u . there are lot of funny games .

depends, honestly for me I have more fun with 3ds games but they don't hold as much replay value, while wii u is more consistent and more hours can be put in. and with smash bros out that more fun with factor doesn't hold true as much as before.

In my opinion, there is no portable gaming device that can top a console... WiiU.

if you can only afford one, wait for New 3DS. :P

Not sure why everyone's voted for Wii U

The 3DS has a massive expanse of games from popular series that aren't found on Wii U, such as Pokémon mainline series, animal crossing New leaf, and yes I agree that Wii U has its share of popular games such as Splatoon, it comes nowhere near the popularity of 3DS and it's wonderful features such as streetpass and apps such as Swap note.

3ds has lots of customisation too for example themes, and lots of varieties as opposed to the black console and white basic.

Buttons are more durable on 3ds too, my Wii U gamepad shoulder buttons are now weakening

Depends, i personally would vote for 3DS, as it's massive backlog and dirt cheap prices now.

Well, if I'm not too late in the discussion. Definitely Wii U. 3DS doesn't have games like Breath of the Wild.

Imma go with 3DS due to a better library compared to the Wii U. You'd get more mileage from the plethora of game on there. Plus a few of the Wii U titles are now available elsewhere, for better or in SMM 3DS' case: for worse.

I'd say wii U just cause breath of the wild haha
