With predictions flying around about when new systems are coming out, is there any truth about new nintendo handhelds/ consoles/ whatever coming out in a couple years (2010 is predicted apparently)? Because it would be a complete drag to be basically unsupported in a couple years if i god a DS.

OR

Is it worth it with the amount of games coming out and that are already out to just enjoy it?

OR

is this just idiots trying to sound like they know something that we dont?

I dont think there will be another nintendo handheld for awhile, the ds is just starting to come into the media more, unlike when it first came out. I must say the ds is probably my fav handheld consol to date and it is totaly worth buying with the awsome releases it has out right now and are still comming out. I would recomend getting one.

I can easily see your point

but the fact is that ive been a nintendo guy for as long as ive played games.

Plus the fact that I have a wii lends itself to the connectability that is being developed between the systems and all that jazz

plus the DS just has some sik games out and coming out

nuff sed

If you can wait, why not wait. You save your money and the longer you wait, the cheaper the DS is going to be. I don't think anybody will want to bring out a new handheld until maybe 2011.

As for the DS, we keep getting better titles and it just keeps growing in popularity. People with brothers and sisters, or parents with children, it's great if more than one sibling has a DS, with single card play and how many games there are that have that, it's really good. All the kids can be in their rooms playing together.

I would look at what you would do once you have your DS, what games you would want to buy, why you want a DS. This sort of thing helps you work out how much you want it or if you even do want it.

The DS is awesome, doesn't matter what they say, it still has a future and also has a past that offers a lot. So, don't wait, just buy one and enjoy.

I would highly recommend the DS Lite. The longer lasting battery power & much brighter screens make it a superior version. There is no news from Nintendo about any new system. There has been speculation by us players as to when a new one will come out. 2010 seemed to be the most popular guess. But no matter, the DS system is going to be very viable for the next few years. Many good games are out & many more coming. I would not pass up 3+ yrs of gaming.

you should just get a DS because all those things about another handheld are rumors they aren't going to come out with a new one anytime soon no doubt

There are so many great games for the ds that you would not want to miss out on.. so even if a new system is released relatively soon, it would still be worth it to purchase a ds.

The DS is still flying off shelves like nobody's business. Nintendo would be stupid to release a new handheld when their current one is still selling like hot cakes, and if there's one thing Nintendo has made perfectly clear, it's that they aren't stupid.

I'd say to get the DS, provided that there are enough games for it that you want to play.

Even though the DS came out quite a few years ago, it didnt really seem to heat up until the DS Lite came out.
And there are so many nice games that have been released and also more to come, it's surely a good buy.

Yes. You should by a DS. The sheer amount of games that have already been released, and will be released before the DS is finished, should keep you going for a long time. I've had mine for a year, and have barely scratched the surface of the great games available for it.

I've sampled the DS (Trauma Center) and I enjoyed it. I coach, and most of my kids are playing that system on bus rides so it has intrigued me more. I MIGHT get one, but I still have GC and PC titles that are keeping me occupied. I'm sure you all will tell me to get off my keister and get a DS anyway. Any Fire Emblem titles out for it, or is that for GB Adv?

As with any system. I am growing steadily intrigued with the DS's current library but not to the point where I'm going to throw $120 at a game store for one. Are there accessories that you need to get too? Memory card...

Your going to get a bias opinion here obviously. I had a DS I stopped playing because there aren't too many games that I like anymore. I love Nintendo as well, I have a Wii, but the DS really got boring for me. I got a PSP and I am really happy with it. It's always good to try new things and the PSP has some very cool games like Daxter or Grand Theft Auto. The battery life of the PSP isn't bad. No one is really away from a power outlet for 10 hours anyways, and even if you were in a car you could just buy an adapter. To be honest I think 2 screens is a gimick, and it serves no purpose for some of the best games on DS, but it's good for games like Metroid or Brain age.

Go on the PSP board and ask there as well. I own both (unlike most people here) and I'm reccomending the PSP. (Get the PSP Daxter pack with the game, a 1 GB card, and 5 episodes of Family Guy, and of course the silver PSP slim for $199.

that has always been a reason why I didn't get one. I always thought that the GBA was a good system and didn't think the 2 screens were necessary. If i were to get a handheld, I would go Nintendo.

Los9090

It might seem like it's just a gimmick (I hate that word...), but honestly there are tons upon tons of games that really do make use of the two screens in a meaningful manner (though obviously some would likely disagree). I would personally rate it closer to "inspired design decision" then to "gimmick".

Yes, buy one. Even if there is one in a couple of years, thats still a couple of years of gameplay.
