I love the Legend of Zelda games, but never got a Gamecube so I missed out on Wind Waker. No that I have a Wii, I have the opportunity to play both WW and TP. I'm awful at making little decisions like this. Please help me!

It's really if you WANT to, I mean, there really is no story line with Zelda, so you could, I would play both of them anyway.

Pretty much every Zelda game is non-continuous because the Link and Zelda are different people each game. From what I know of the timeline, WW comes like many many years after TP and OOT.

No. There's no direct relation between both games.  The common belief is that TP falls between Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker in the Zelda chronology.   Both TP and WW make allusions to the events in Ocarina, but the individual stories in each game are self-contained, so you can play them in whatever order you want.

TP > WW so play WW first. Then you'll be more amazed by TP rather than being disappointed by WW.

Wind Waker is the superior game. Buy it and enjoy. You can find it for cheap also.

Nope. WW is a far in the future Zelda game and TP is more or less right after OOT and MM.

Not really, WW isnt worth it with all the sailing. Come back to it another time. Go ahead and enjoy TP.

play WW first.  TP is a better game, but ww is still worth it for the graphics alone.

You don't have to, since the games don't seem to be related. Ocarina before Twilight is a given, and there are some things that may make Majora's Mask worthwhile to play first.

It doesn't really matter. It's not like there is a continuous story line, so it's really just which one you buy first. I'd go with Twilight Princess myself.

What are you talking about? TP is a longer game. Also I would play WW first because that is the way it was meant to be played, plus it is my opinion that TP is a better game, so I would save the best for last.

Since Twilight Princess improves on just about everything that Wind Waker does (except for arguably graphics), I'd go with Wind Waker first; that way you have no where to go but up from there on. Plus Wind Waker is a much shorter game so you'll have that out of the way quicker and be able to continue on to the next title quicker. Both are great games though and they both only reference Ocarina of Time (and not each other), so either way it wouldn't make a huge difference.

You should, because otherwise you might not want to go back to non-motion controls after.

I would suggest Twilight Princess first. The graphical style of Wind Waker is fated to age much more gracefully, and chronologically, Twilight Princess happens before Wind Waker (though there isn't much reference to it at all in the game itself). If the last Zelda you played was Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess is a more familiar way to ease yourself back into the series. Regerdless of which you choose though, be sure to play them both.

As most of us here, ive also played and beaten both...In my opinion TP is a better game. The story is much more interesting, better dungeons, and alot better final boss battle. BUT WW is a great game still....Id play WW first, because it will frustrate at some times, and id rather get the frustration out first, and then play the Better game that yo will probably smile the entire time you play....(I also think the GS rating for the WII and GC version of TP are very low....2nd best zelda game in my eyes)

If you hate Wind Waker and loved TP, you hate what makes Zelda a Zelda game.  WW focused on exploration and adventuring, while TP focused on forcing you down a set path and enduring a poor story with button mashing or Wii waggling combat.  You can see it in the beginnings of the two games, TP starts with Link doing nothing for several days and then suddenly becomes the hero of legend.  WW starts by giving you a glimpse of the badassity that awaits with the arrival of the huge bird and slowly gives you a glimpse of this nearly post-apocalyptic world of changed species and dying races.  TP has NO threat, WW has the threat of Ganon seizing the Triforce again.

I've replayed WW 3 times, and TP 1 and a half.  To me, Twilight Princess is nothing but a slow moving hack and slasher.

I liked TPs story over WW story, so i guess we have different opinions....

besides swinging the sword... works better in the GC version because there isn't a delay from the Wiimote.

Don't listen to anyone telling you that WW was an inferior game. WW is way up there with the best zelda games I've played, but ya you don't really need to play one before the other, but you'll definitely get more out of both games if you play OoT first. And if you have a Wii (which can play gamecube games fyi) you have no excuse not to pick up WW.

I would play Wind Waker first.

One: The difficulty level is easier in Wind Waker.

Two: The storyline is less intense and incredible, save the best for last!

Three: Twilight Princess is revolutionary in its own way. Play Wind Waker first and then totally redefine the experience after you play TP.

Just my recommendation :)

I understand that it does not matter which one I play first in terms of following the storyline. Really I am just asking for a recommendation and I thank those who have expressed and explained their opinions. By the way, the last LoZ games I played were the ones on the N64. I played OoT and MM 2 or 3 times each and love both. Also, I should mention that I play games primarily for story/atmosphere. So, in terms of that which one shoudl I play first?
