Hello everyone.

I don't mean to troll or incite a flame war; I'm a gamer, if I've been inclined towards a console so far it's been the Wii. I've been keeping close watch on the console war since I can only afford a single console, and I was very excited with the Wii for its innovative design and because FINALLY Nintendo was coming back to the top. But in the last few days...

I think graphics are important, sure, but they are not the most important thing in a game. In my opinion, games should be fun and not overly complicated, but they shouldn't be dumbed down, either. Games should have a certain level of complexity (complicated and complex are way too different) and themes for the adult gamer to enjoy (I'm 24). At first I saw the Wii lineup and figured the cavalry would show up sooner or later but so far it has not been the case.

The Wii's innovative controllers are ruled as "cool, with a few minor issues", this is great and I would like to try a new way to play games for less money, which are the Wii's strongest sales points...but where are the killer apps?

The Wii only has Zelda and Metroid as games I would really, really, really want to play. I think I'm a little old for Mario, and I might get some fun from SSMB and the other "fun" games, but they would die down real quick. There are some "okay" games, those you play and have a good time with, but I don't think there's a single third party game that makes you say "awesome!!". Don't even mention Virtual Console games, because I don't plan to buy a new console to play old games, sorry!

This brings me to my other option: the 360. I'm not even going to talk about the PS3, since it's waay worse than the Wii in value and games (If I could afford $600 I'd buy a Wii and a 360, hehe), but this last bunch of days the 360 has landed quite a few franchises that have made my faith on the Wii tremble. With games like Gears of War and Oblivion and having Devil May Cry 4, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Ace Combat 6, Assasin's Creed, and Final Fantasy XIII in talks to also make an appearance, and MGS4 very likely to take the jump too, (just to name a few I would look forward to) it makes it hard on me to go with the Wii.

In the end I think the games make or break a console, and the 360 has done a heck of a job securing those exclusives and getting PS3's best games ported. I don't see Nintendo getting the support it deserves for the huge user-base they already have, and it's dissapointing. I have also thought that maybe the third parties did not have faith in the system and hadn't decided on developing big games for it until recently, when the Wii phenomenom really came to life, but still, I see a very dim light in the software horizon.

So with all this said, what I'd like is a few of you guys, preferably within my age range and even better if you own both the 360 and the Wii to tell me which console do you think I should pick and why? I'd like to buy a Wii (I'm in the Wii forum) specially because I'd be able to play with my girlfriend and non-gamer friends (getting my girl to get some headshots on Gears of War might be a little difficult, LOL), but I'd also like to keep having a quality gaming experience with deep characters and mature themes (mature as in satisfying and fairly complex, not necessarily violent). What do you think?

My rule of thumb is, if you have to ask, then don't. You have to see for your self if it really is something that you will like. If people have to convince you to buy it, then chances are that at one point when if you don't like it, you will blame them all. Instead learn about the games and pros/cons of the system, decide for your self.

I had my cousin over some time ago, he is into sports games, He really liked the Wii and asked me if I thought he should buy it. Told him the same thing I just mentioned. He likes the idea of getting games for the Virtual Console. He already has a 360 and did some more research, turns out he is going to buy one; when he can finally find it.

People who want to know if they should get it don't want it.

By the way I'm 23 and I want the Wii more than the 360.

If you've got other people to play local multiplayer, then get one.  If you intend on playing by yourself, then you might want to wait.

How can you get too old for Mario? The developers of these games aren't 12 year olds. They are old folks.

Uh, no don't get one.

I'm sick of hearing people complaining about there being no games..even though there is.
