ok so i was at gamestop getting games for the ps vita (getting ready for deployment) and saw the games they had for the 3ds, i like all the games that are out on it right now and also like the fact that you can play regular ds games on it. well the stuation is this i was thinking on buying a used ds but all they had was a used pink one. im not getting a pink one my platoon will call me a fruit, i was about to leave when i noticed there was a used 3ds in the counter brhind the employee. i asked how much it cost and they said 150. as she was grabbing it and put it on the counter i decided to buy brand new one since its not much of a price difference. i also grabbed a few accesories for it, the starter kit, a few ds games and 3ds games.

now as she was scanning the stuff and giving me the total of how much it cost. the total price was $368. She gave me the bags with the stuff and i went on to my mary way. as i get home and begin to grab the gamesi noticed that the used 3ds was in the bag. I thought to myself "did she charge the full new price for the used one?" but then noticed that the new one was in the other bag. now i have two 3ds' and here is where im asking you guys. should i do the right thing and return the used or should i keep it and have 2 of them?

So you weren't charged for the used DS? I'd sell it. It's up to you though, obviously the moral high road lies with returning it.

Honestly, who would benefit more? If you had an extra 3DS you could save the new one and keep it fresh for years to come. You'd probably never even wear-out the old one anyway. If gamestop got it back they would just be making even more money on the monopoly they already have on selling games at outrageous prices. Keep it man, it's called your lucky day :)

Holy sh1t keep it. Or donate it to a charity or church or something. It's gamestops loss and they'll lose basically nothing.

Are you sure they didn't charge you for the used one? Your price seems awfully steep unless you got a bunch of games.

Gamestop is evil. I'd say keep it. Think of the millions of people THEY have ripped off.

If it happened to me I would keep it. It wasn't your fault, it was theirs. And it's not like a single person is losing money in their pocket, it's a multi-million dollar company and this wouldn't affect them that greatly. Think of this as a win for you, one day you'll lose something and you'll be reminded of this win and you won't be so upset :)

It might be best to return it. The employee who made the mistake may get reprimanded for the mistake maybe even fired

Same. I don't care how much of a rip-off Gamestop can be. Keeping it is greedy, stealing, and pointless.

edit: Also, the person working there will get in loads of trouble and will probably have to pay for it out of thier own wallet which isn't fair. :/

Consider it a reward for doing something that nobody wants to do: Being a soldier. I salute you and so does Gamestop. Consider it good fortune and move on.

I'm sorry but I don't buy your story, how do you buy a game that is being marked 75 percent off the price that it shows, every Gamestop is going through the stage of emptying out the inventory of GBA games, I'm sorry I seem skeptical but I really don't trust you :P Ok back to the topic: Give it to your platoon, I mean like share it with the whole group so each one of them is happy :) or if you want to be evil one take it and sell it :P

I would return it. Second best option is to give it to a friend so you can play games together, or nephew/niece/younger cousin as a gift.

They aren't going to do that. Just don't go to that store again, and quite honestly they probably already have enough information to contact you. If they wanted to they already would. It was their mistake, you can't get in trouble. Infact, I'm sure the employee realizes what they've done and will not mention it to management because they will lose their job over it, so infact not taking it back might be the best thing. If it was an honest, hard-working employee who made an honest mistake, returning it will only get them fired. Like I said, if they wanted it back they have ways of contacting you

Well, ask yourself, if you were the store clerk, would you feel bad if some customer did the same to you?

He didn't do anything to the clerk. The clerk screwed up and gave him a second one without him knowing. Mistakes are mistakes and the customer shouldn't be blamed for them. Of course the morally right thing to do is to return it, but it's not like he is doing anything illegal by keeping it.

The employee is just working there though. I was ready to say 'keep it' but the worker might get into trouble.

OK, then think about this. if you were the clerk, and this happened, wouldn't you want the customer to return it?

Definitely. I even said that it would be the right thing to do, but he's not doing anything immoral by keeping it. They gave it to him fair and square.

i mean they have it on the systems at the store...if they lose it they could get in trouble...or they may contact you (which i highly doubt they would). I would return it personally though
