So my DSLite is broke and i ordered a tri-gram screwdriver to open it. i would try to turn it on and the bottom screen flashes then it turns off automatically, so when i opened the console the orange ribbon from the top screen that connected to the bottom CPU was ripped in half, so heres the question should i go online and buy and new top screen $18 and a new shell for it (I could use a new shell) $20, or should i just buy a new one??? but im pretty sure its the top screen but im not 100% sure. should i risk buying a new top screen.

P.S. FYI my sound hasn't worked in a long time (includes headphone jack) and the L Button only work if i press it hard or if use a toothpick.

Bad news bears strike again! I would say risk it, if you've managed to take it apart and you (bold text) understand how to reassemble it (/bold text) then Yes,- risk it. The way you word is basically "Should I spend 130$ or 20$" in which I'd say 20$.

In my opinion you shouldn't risk it. If there is a different part that isn't from the original ds it won't work as well so will just stop working again.

P.S. buy DSi!

You shouldn't risk it,find out more details first before doing anything that you might regret.

If you have 200$ risk it, worst case you break your DS and buy a new one, problem solved, best case (And as it's been said, KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING (I hate not having BBcode)) scenario is you fix your screen, and possibly your sound if you study online self-help guides (Google knows all ;) )

You could enter your serial number at Nintendo's website and see if you can get it fixed while under warranty.

If your warranty is up, you should be able to send it in for $75 or get a new one shipped to you for $85.

Well then it's a bet you might have to take, if you save 180$ you'll be ecstatic, if you lose it, you expected to.

Congrats, be careful with the screen though. I bought my friend that model new, about two weeks ago and the connector broke, so now the screen is limp (falls backwards instead of staying in place)

Congratulations on your new DS. Gave up on fixing the old one, eh? 96 bucks is a fairly good deal for a new lite, are you sure that its new? =P
