Ok, so i bought a DS lite a few days ago and have since scratched the screen to hell.

I'm going to take it back and exchange it for a new one, I'm going to tell them that the touch screen is defective.

I'm wondering if screen protectors are a good idea, and if so, what kind would you recommend?

I've had bad experience with screen protectors on my psp back in the day, and they always left huge air bubbles that could not be removed and ruined my screen when i attempted to take them off.

So im wondering whos using screen protectors and what kind of luck you guys have had with them.

I think you should use screen protectors just to be safe, especially with the touch screen. I would recommend importing the Hori ones. You can get them off of Play-Asia.com

The answer is YES. I put a Pelican screen protector on my DS and it has lasted me about three years. Now the screen protector is done for, I scratched the bejesus out of it, and recently took it off because I really couldn't use it anymore. but looking at it now I can see that, had I not put it on, I would have had to get a new DS. Also, about the bubbles, most screen protectors come with a little card to help apply it. If you do it right, it won't leave many bubbles, and most importantly, when you are playing, you don't notice the bubbles at all.

Oh and one more thing: Don't waste time putting on the top screen protector. Unless you are five years old, I don't think you need to keep yourself from hurting the top screen. It just makes it ugly.

well, I just ordered 2 hori liquid crystal filter lite screen protectors from play-asia.com.(shipping options suck by the way)

Either pay a few bucks to wait weeks to get your stuff, or pay 20 bucks to wait a few days, no middle ground at all.

Let's hope these things are as awesome as people say.

I've had my DS since launch and use it fairly often. I've never used and have never needed screen protectors at all. My screen is unscratched and has no damage of any kind. Screen protectors seem to be cash-in's for the careless and the worried. At least from my experience anyway.

How in the world did you scratch you screen to high heaven? What game or games were you playing that involved that much intensity or pressure? If you have only had it for a few days, get the screen protector and put it on carefully so as not to create air bubbles, the power is your hands...Nintendo power! Man I'm not feeling well today.

I would recommend getting screen protectors, especially since your DS is already scratched after a few days.....how did the air bubbles wreck the screen on your DS? I have some on mine that I can't get rid of so I just left them, you can't see them when playing games, but now I am worried that the screen will be wrecked like yours was when I take them off to put new ones on.....:S

I bought the DS lite a few days ago. I got it with 1-set of screen protectors. But it's such a nightmare putting the protectors on. So I screwed up big time, air bubbles, dust, etc!!

I played a while without any screen protectors, and I noticed a scratch on the touch screen ):

So I got new protectors today, and screwed the upper protector bad ): I removed it and only applied the bottom one. Which went on very well

There's no insurance when buying screen protectors, if you mess up when applying them on the screens you've lost your money.

The touch screen seems to get scratched depending on what kind of games you play. I only have Magical Starsign, and the whole game uses the stylus, movement, battles, menus everything is used with the stylus. So it seems to be easy to scratch the screen with this kind of game.

Hopefully it will be better now, with the bottom protector =)

I've alread scratched up my bottom screen quite a bit due to EBA and other stylus-intensive games. Is it still worth getting a screen protector at this point?

Please don't destroy anymore precious DS lite's  they are hard to find.

The answer is YES,  get a screen protector.  It is well worth it,  go to circuit city to get a $5 Pelican or order Hori's doesn't matter just get them.

The DS lite manual says to never put a protector on the top screen so I wouldn't bother,  there is really no need for one on the top anyway.
