IMO, Nintendo should make friend codes optional through the parental controls menu. That way, new video-game-players and younger Wii-players can use the "friend code" system as sort of an intro to online gaming (or online forums), while gamers like you and I could use a traditional online interface! /discuss

I don't really get how they could be ptional, you have them or you don't.  I wish they didn't use them, but hey I bought a Wii anyway.

I think they should. I'd like to see the Wii get into online gaming, and friend codes would be pretty useful in that department

If the friend codes are not seriously reworked for the US, the internet play is might be dead in the water.

I had to vote no way. The problem isn't really the codes but the way the system is designed. Nintendo should just scrap the whole thing and start over. It's not too late.

I don't see what the big deal is.  They work fine on the ds. I prefer to remain anonymous when I play online games anyway.  As for playing my actual friends, well, entering the code isn't all that difficult.

I think they should change the name to Wii LIVE and when I play a game online I'd like to have 30 13 year olds scream profainities into my ear while they cheat at whatever game we're playing and run around killing people on their own team. Then everyone will be happy and we'll all have fun!

It wouldn't be difficult if you only had to enter a code one time. Unfortunately, each game has its own unique code that you need to get from all of your friends. That is where the biggest issue lies. While friend codes in and of themselves are a bad idea, this compounds the issue.

I Voted "No Way" but i do think there should be something...

but not something so complicated, and not a different one for each game.

Something similiar to XBoxLives GamerTags would be ideal imo
