Why try and force No More Heroes to be something that it isnt? The first one's overworld was designed with a post modern mindset, and attempted to be a piece of satire. It was effective in that if you payed attention, the sparse overworld and shallow mini games made sense within a context.
If No More Heroes 2 was to be a GTA clone, it would lose its entire point. Maybe from a gameplay perspective, it would do the game good, but I dont want it to lose its humour. Its so rare for a video game.
I don't want it to be a GTA clone, because it'll fail miserably, and would defeat the entire point of No More Heroes' punk style anyways.
I'd love to see Suda do something original/wacky with the overworld though.
i almost feel it needs to go mega man style... where ranking up occurs after u beat each boss etc etc
the 'detached level' formula goes completely against sandbox gameplay.
but narratively there could be cutscenes surrounding each detached level and they could all be part of the same world and strung together in some sort of chronology if neccesary.
No The game overall needs work. You don't focus on the worst part of the game. Just omit it from the next one, work on the elements that worked, actually POLISH those elements and release a game that's not a beta this time.Jaysonguyeven if they POLISH and it becomes (somehow) game of the year, you can't buy the game...remember your oath not to buy wii games anymore? be strong jaysonguy...resist...

You do when you want to improve it.
ive got to agree with Jasonguy, the entire game needed improvement. the combat was fun, but at the same time it was almost TOO basic. it was like "hit, hit, hit, hit, get hit, hit, hit, ect." i think that they need more combo variations, maybe some more jumping attacks, and hopefully a defense lowering hit, because when im swinging like mad at a guy just to here it block every single hit, then having him hit me and knock me on my bum, is just not fun.
the overworld could use alot more to do, its just... boring. you have store after store after store after store, and those not so random battle deals, that are just... blah. bottom line, it needs more.
the artstyle is good, but the graphics are not. it looks not very good at all, especially at a specific, repetetive cutscene where travis deposits money.
i liked the game, but it just needs alot of work to make it a really good game
am i the only person who could not finish NMH due to the awful side missions?teknic1200I finished it, but I really had to force my self through the side missions at times.

no my friend, you're not the only one.
I loved the concept, and humour of this game but imo, it was a mess.
I agree with Jasonguy, the game was not finished, and had a lot more potential. Hopefully this makes up for that
The overworld obviously wasn't the highlight of the game, but I didn't mind it either. It would only take a little bit of polish to make that part of the game significantly more enjoyable. Two minor things would've made that (small) part of the game more enjoyable. You should've been able to attack random thugs on the sidewalk, and the motorcycle should've gone faster and handled better on turns. Other than that, they could've broken up the missions a bit better, grouping them together during certain chapters so you didn't have to drive to and from opposite ends of Santa Destroy to earn some money.
Also, achievements would be perfect for a game like No More Heroes.
