Ok, all or most of you know the pokemon games for the gc and wii: Pokemon Colloseum, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Pokemon Battle revolution. The first 2 were for the gc and the last one was for the wii.

I have only played the ones for gc, and as far as i know, they were better than the handhelds imo. Reasons why you ask, well first there is the music (my fav is mirror B. music from gale of darkness), then graphics, storylines were okay i guess. The only thing i didnt like was the names of the villans. The names were awful, i mean cmon Greevil? Nintendo could do better.

Bottom Line: Do you think nintendo should move to a console?

NO.

I'm almost positive that you are in the vast minority in liking the 3D games better than the 2D ones. Pokemon started on handhelds and I believe that's where it belongs. Playing it on the consoles and seeing all the characters in 3D and having the attacks rendered better is ok, but it's just not the same.

I think pokemon should have some 3rd action game or stick with the fighting games like battle revolution.

Should Nintendo move Pokemon exclusively to the Wii? Absolutely not. The handheld games have always been the best, and that's what handheld owners expect.

That being said, I'd like to see them try a little harder on their console attempts.

General consensus: NO Off-topic: anyone else notice how there were NO normal or common names in Pokemon Coliseum? The only one was Willie who only appears at the beginning of the game. Seriously, go and play that game, come back, and agree with me. :P

I think it could be a console pokemon game, like a remake of one old pokemon game. Or may be a console pokemon game based more on the anime, with elements from the handheld games like the battles (that's pokemon's spirit), and evolutions, but less rpgish and more adventureish.

It should stay on handhelds for the most part. That's where the gameplay fits best. However, they've been dragging this on far too long. I personally won't go any farther than Crystal, for everything afterward pretty much crossed the border into Rehashville. The only way I'll go farther is if they make one more game that condenses all the regions into one slick little package. It could be called Mithril, mostly because like that fictional metal, it doesn't exist and won't ever exist mostly because Nintendo knows better than to kill off a money machine like that.

I'm still waiting for my Pokemon MMORPG. Customize your trainer and your Pokemon any way you want and roam around town fighting wild Pokemon, NPC's and players in awesome PvP combat. Now why can't they do this?

There are far too many fans of the gameplay for this to ever happen...moving it to a console only format makes zero sense seeing how the appeal of pokemon is to take your pocket monster anywhere...though I do think they need to change up some stuff a bit..perhaps allowing you to make your own choices and not be forced to save the day or become the champion...eeeehhh I don't know either way it wont be changing anytime soon I'm sure.

That is very true, the names are very, well....bizzare if you ask me.

But from hearing everybody's posts, it seems you want pokemon to stay on a handheld. Is it because of the multi-player battles, trading, ect. Let me rephrase my question though, do you think they should make pokemon games for consoles more often?

all i want from pokemon rite now is some GOOD online play, 3d graphics meaning 3d cutscenes. and honestly can't we get more action than just clicking tackle every turn. couldn't we mesh moves up, aim, create, name, and can't we get some more effects from our moves instead of just seeing our pokemon move around. can't it look like a cutscence or somethin.

Personally I would love to see Pokemon be move to the console, but not in a crappy pokemon stadium way, in a complete 3D world adventure. It would play out like the handheld games, but (here comes the amazing part) battles take place in real time and you get to move the pokemon and use their attacks. Also the terrain would greatly influence the battles, so if your battling in the ocean a rock type pokemon would do poorly in comparison to a water type. Since the game would play like the handhelds they could make it so you play through all the different leagues and maybe add a new one or just create a new league. Custimization of your character would be a must as no one would want to look the same as someone else and I found the NPC always looked cooler than the main character.

How cool would it be if they made a Pokemon/Animal Crossing game? Like, instead of you expanding your house in a town, you expand your gym in a town full of poketrainer neighbors. And it could be in real time too, so that people like Gracie or Joan could come along, except they would be other Gym Leaders. And instead of a museum, there could be a mini pokemon snap game, where you save up to buy a camera and then take pictures of various pokemon that wander into your town, which then get displayed in some photo art gallery. You'd still have items and money and all of that. And you could go to other towns and fight the gym leader there. I think Nintendo could make a LOT of money if they made that.

Depends. If they would make like a pokemon brawl(ssbb) game, then hell yes. If its like battle revolution, then hell no. Either way, Pokemon should stay on the hand helds no matter what.

An interesting idea for a spin-off pokemon game, yep, making a gym and increasing it and getting famous, this type of stuff...

I wonder if pokemon can work well in strategy rpgs like disgaea or FFTA.

No, Pokemon should stay on handheld. The only change I want to see in the game is the introduction of different levels of difficulty. At the moment the game is just far, far too easy. You shouldn't be able to blast through the game with two high level pokemon and never be ko'd until the final boss fight of the entire game.

That does sound like a pretty good idea. Only the towns should be bigger than they are in animal crossing (depending if its a town or city). The gym idea sounds good too. if they made a game like that i would be looking foward to it.

I'm fine with it moving to consoles, but I likely will not ever play any of those versions. Pokemon has always been about convenience and portability with me, and that is the fine line that has kept me from putting it away when it is so obviously inappropriate to play at my age :P. Take away the fact that I can stretch on the couch and catch a few pokemans, and you take away my desire to play the game.

...

oh, you're serious?

In my opinion, console pokemon games are great, but I see no reason why Nintendo shouldstop making handheld pokemon games. they're great, they have a lot of replay value, they make a lot of money, and pretty much everyone likes them. Plus they keep on selling , like, years so nintendo wouldnt give up for anything.

And jjtiebuckle, yes it would be good if they changed something for once.

Maybe in battles you can actually play as the pokemon instead of commanding it. The game experience would be great, but it may be hard to control.

Yeah kinda like the pokemon trainer in brawl actually assume the role of the pokemon..it would be a nice touch..and I also like the idea of maybe being a bad guy..seeing as the bad guy really isn't always so bad in these games..lol..one thing i've gotta say though is in regaurds to the people saying we need new stuff and recycling..some games work too well with this recycling philosophy ie Mega man. In almost all his games and spin offs recycle over and over not always the original source but it's what works...but yeah I did some thinking and talking amongst fellow pokemon players the other day and the one thing we want is the ability to customize our characters..adjust their height and weight skin color etc..you know it'd add to the pokemon experience. and like i previously said take the restrictions away..you should be allowed to collect or study or do contests rather than be forced to beat the elite four..also I'd like to see more of the rematch system from emerald and GSC..and lets actually see the gym leaders become truely difficult by switching up their teams..Also it'd be very nice to see you travel to the different lands..no more being restricted to one land please..

They wouldn't make it real-time. Not only would it disrupt the fanbase, it would also get rid of a lot of the depth and tactics the Pokemon series is renowned for, and probably make the game shorter. I'd prefer the handheld versions move into the 3-D realm, cel-shaded like Phantom Hourglass but with a view from the back (like DQM:Joker, if any of you played it). That would be worth getting.

Speaking of changes, I'd like it if they made a darker spinoff with a bit more emphasis on more tragic themes like war and death. (For instance, does anyone remember that tower in Kanto that served as a graveyard for all those creatures? How come nobody has witnessed one actually perish?) Part of the change would be that the relationship between a trainer and his creatures would be...different. Since most of the situations are pretty much life-and-death, a trainer would be less likely to sit in the background and watch his creatures take abuse lest they get killed, and there's no reviving them at that point.

Speaking of changes, I'd like it if they made a darker spinoff with a bit more emphasis on more tragic themes like war and death. (For instance, does anyone remember that tower in Kanto that served as a graveyard for all those creatures? How come nobody has witnessed one actually perish?) Part of the change would be that the relationship between a trainer and his creatures would be...different. they probably dont put that in because the younger viewers watching the show. it would change their reflection apon the show.

Nameless player is correct. Pokemon has been milking peoples wallets far too long, but because of this they won't discontinue the franchise.

If there was an MMO Pokemon, who would pay? Why would it be free? I'm guessing a majority of Pokemon players don't have jobs... or credit cards for that matter.

I say it should move on. They've tried working around the RPG formula and haven't succeeded branching out. Either move it to a platform (Wii-controlled pokemon moves?) or the recycle bin. More new IP's and less recycling please.

euphzilla03

There are far too many fans of the gameplay for this to ever happen...moving it to a console only format makes zero sense seeing how the appeal of pokemon is to take your pocket monster anywhere...though I do think they need to change up some stuff a bit..perhaps allowing you to make your own choices and not be forced to save the day or become the champion...eeeehhh I don't know either way it wont be changing anytime soon I'm sure.

It would be nice if there was a pokemon game where you are evil instead of good. and as you go through the game you get a better rank in team galactic.

Who knows, they might add the "battling the gym leaders again" system in the platinum game. although im not sure yet, they might. But the costomizing your character idea is good. I hate my character wearing the same clothes. As far as the "going to other regions" system goes, i only have one thing to say... Don't worry, they ARE going to put this feature. They're most likely goin to do it when all of the pokemon games are done.

That is most likely why such a spinoff that I have conceived will never happen. Of course, I'd rather have it fork between the lighthearted route it has now and the darker, more serious and tragic route I had in mind...the problem is that the kids used to the lightheartedness of the franchise will become curious about the darker spinoffs, and that's when problems start to crop up...

I'm mostly sick and tired of the fact that there are needless re-release versions going around, and basically ignoring what is wanted. I'm personally sick and tired of the slow, turn-based combat that there has been since the beginning. In light of more real-time games like kotor, there is no excuse for not trying something different here. Secondly, and this may be more of a personal peeve... what the **** is up with the trainers and their vapid, condescending expressions and excuses to want a match? "I like shorts!" "berries are fun!" "I just wiped my ass with a sudowoodo, fight me!" seriously, why... even now with more than ten years since its initial release must we be treated to statements that just make my brain cells want to commit suicide? Thirdly, and this may be minor, but it's sad to say how Pokemon really goes to show how racist Nintendo's dev crew is. nearly 20 pokemon based games and NOT ONE BLACK PERSON? Or basically ANY other race besides whitey and japanese? God, no wonder we can't get Mother 3... :| They can't even be bothered to acknowledge that other races exist, which is made all the more hilarious now that Reggie is president of NOA. Fourth, one reason we don't see pokemon games on consoles is because then they'd have to make a single game where you can catch them all. And while that would make perfect sense to gamers and fans alike, that would simply go against common sense, which flies right against the bizarre logic that the Pokemon Company use in creating them. And why would they? then they can only sell one copy to everyone instead of making you buy twenty different copies of the same game just to "catch 'em all" :| Five, I hated PBR. I normally find it a peeve to see games that only make token use of features especially when I feel they could have done better. PBR manages to break every "token use" rule I'd believe about the Wii and DS... and this is from a first-party product, for crying out loud! Six, While I don't necessarily believe that pokemon should be moved only to consoles, I do feel that Nintendo should put more of an effort in actually making a proper console game using pokemon. PBR is case and point. Models/textures in the game were as recycled as they were in the original Stadium for the n64 in most cases, and save for the Wii interface differences, the game played just as boringly as Stadium did even back then. Seven, WILL THAT GODDAMN OLD BASTARD IN FRONT OF THE DAY CARE TURN AROUND?!? "we don't know how the egg got there" IT WAS HAPPENING RIGHT BEHIND YOU, IDIOT! Eight, the whole "pokemon can only remember four moves" **** can go in the dumpster. You mean to tell me that something with an IQ of 5000 (alakazam) can't remember more than four moves? Please. If that were the case, then how come the move tutor can re-learn them on any pokemon for you? Nine, why is it that in each generation, the turn-based combat gets SLOWER? With the DS generation, playing the battles with battle animations OFF, is still somehow slower than doing the battles in the GBA games with animations ON. Check that **** out, and what the hell is the reason behind it? Ten, all the extra storage of a DS card over a GBA cart, and they can't let us go back to Kanto and Johto? **** that.
