Should the 3DS be worried about $250 and $300 price tag of the PSV?

Well at E3 Sony confirmed that the PSV had a $250 wi-fi model and $300 3G model. Now that's surprisignly a lot lower then what the expected price of the NGP/PSV would be. Now the 3DS may have some problems considering many people said that the 3DS would be cheaper and more a affordable then the NGP. Now this isn't that bad of a situation, first of all the reason I got a 3DS was because of the awesome games lineup. The PSV does look great, but the games lineup is not nearly as impressive as the 3DS. Also the 3DS is going to provide 3D which will give brand new experiences while the NGP will be more of a redo of the PS3. Also the PSV's surprisingly low price may mean that something will be sacrificed Also although the price tag was something the 3DS was intially thought to have an adavantage on, I think most 3DS owners did not buy a 3DS for that reason. A perfect example trumping a system that was cheaper and more powerful was Gamecube vs PS2. Now the PS2 was less powerful and more expensive, but the PS2 sold a lot more then the Gamecube due to a much better games library.

It's going to be interesting to see how things turn out to say the least.

I think it is pretty much the definition of a competition. I watched them show off the Uncharted game, and it did look pretty nice - good lighting and shadows and all that. Plus the PSVita has two analog sticks, so it will obviously win the FPS crowd. This puts the 3DS in a tough spot, and unless Nintendo makes some good games and more 3rd party supporters make decent exclusives, Nintendo might not do so well.

Then again, the PSVita hasn't come out yet. It may run into more problems than the 3DS has, who knows. It might still have security issues - I just read a bit ago that some hackers may have hacked something on the PSN again.

Is it just me, or have this happened before? Oh! Right, the NDSvPSP console war. In the end, who won? NDS! What did the NDS had...?

PSP | NDS
Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition | Final Fantasy III DS
Final Fantasy II | Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Rings of Fate
Final Fantasy IV ****c Collectionn | Final Fantasy IV DS
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII | Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echos of Time
Dissidia Final Fantasy | Super Mario 64 DS
Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy 012 | Sonic Rush
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops | The World Ends With You
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker | Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
Ys Seven | Pokemon Black/White
Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 Portable | Megaman Starfoce series
Shin Megami Tensei Persona 2 Innocent Sin Portable | Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team

In the end, some may say that the PSP had the better games, but... Who won the console war? *Ahem* The Nintendo Dual-Screen did! Can the NDS play music? Videos? The PSP can! But in the end, who won? NDS!

In summation;
3DS will top Vita.

In my opinion the 3ds should be worried about the cheap price of the Vita. DS was 150 and the psp was 250 when it first launched in 2004. Now its the same. With psp having multitouch oled hd display, dual analoges and touch pad in the back, the 3ds will struggle. The only thing that advanced for 3dscompared to the previous gen is the controls(one analog). The 3d obviously wont atttact the mainstram cause it is unfriendly towards kids and certain people. Considering that most ds owners were young kids, this is a big hit. Unless sony goes on crack, there is no way the 3ds can win psv in this portable gen.

That's a little stretch if you ask me, It's certainly going to be interesting but we all know who the king of handhelds is.

In the end all that matters are how much people end up enjoying the system and it's games. For all we know, Both the 3DS and PSPV will fail or they could both be hudge sucsseses...Hey you never know.

Assuming, of course, that history always repeats itself.

Spoilers, it doesn't.

I guess I exagerrated a little, but thats what 3ds gets for being cocky and debuting their portable system first. In the first portable war , the psp debuted its system first, and nintnedo counter attacked it. Anyways unless nintendo lowers the price to 200 and releases revamped original ips(not remakes like oot mgs) 3ds might still have a glimmer of hope. Pokemon would also help.

Nintendo is making money off of the 3DS

Mark my words,

Sony will lose money per unit sold.

Their mindset was to NOT be second anymore. They are serious about the handheld market and they know damn well Nintendo is king. PS Vita has a "streetpass" type app to compete withNintendo as well as:

- Headset and voice chat functionality

- Cloud saves

- Call of Duty

- Superior technology capable of console-like rendering

In those respects, Sony is ahead. that is a $400+ unit to produce. They will lose a lot of money on each unit at first.

I love Nintendo and consider myself a fanboy, but lets not be "blind" fanboys (they are annoying, you know this). The competition just got tougher for Nintendo - tougher than it has ever been.
