alien = nonsense light = most stuff related to light are plant/bug/psychic already. wind = flying IMO, what they need is attacks with 2 different types. that would add a LOT of new depth and change all strategies. an example? the elemental punches.

Light is a rip off of dark, Alien just makes more sense as a description (eg. Pikachu the electric mouse pokemon), and wind is essentially flying type. No extra types really are needed, I don't see what their purpose would be. Steel and Dark had a reason. Psychic types were overpowered in 1st gen competitive (which I didn't play, but I know from reviewing the trends in first gen play). Mewtwo could sweep a whole team if it was unprepared, and Alakazam was nearly as good. Dark was needed to balance out these overpower psychics. Steel was also needed to give some type resistance to dragon. Without steel today's metagame would need to ban salamence, and probably dragonite, Kingdra and flygon too. All of those would easily knock out 3 pokemon with choice outrage, at the small cost of confusion (big whoop, just swap in a sacrifice, and continue sweeping). That make for a too centered metagame, which is exactly the opposite of what clauses try to do. No new types are needed now though, I really don't see a point for them.

Maybe. Maybe wind should be good against Rock and weak against fire. I think that's an idea that might work.

Meh, I usually end up with ridiculously long posts or talk for a really long time (In real life) if it's involving a topic I know about. However it does explain why new types aren't needed.

True. However, if light were added, it could help set the theme for the next generation of Pokemon. It could be something like Shadow and Shine.

That would be interesting. I agree with the elemental punches thing.

Umm, not really...because would wind blow boulders away? unless it was a hurricane / tornado, and flying types are too related to wind would be anyways, and why weak against fire? i would see it as maybe weak against psychic, but I see clearly no need for any new types of Pokemon, that would add too much to think about and they're plenty already, personally, we dont need that at all

I see your point about rock. But wind actually increases the strength of fires. So maybe that part of the idea has potential.

Shadow would just be ghost type. We don't need a new type because it might unbalance the metagame again. Then we'd have to wait until the next gen just for that unbalance to be fixed.

Shadow, Shine, Fail. A light type idea is poppycock. What we need to do is to give some attention to some neglected types like my favorite type poison which hasn't got a legendary pokemon yet. Deoxys could had easily have been a poison type, but no they made another light typ... I mean psychic type legendary like we haven't seen one of those before.

I was thinking about having Light and Crsytal types... but yeah, people are right, that would ruin the metagame as it exists today, the only reason dark and steel types were introduced in generation 2 was that the psychic type was bloody broken, and the fighting, ice and bug types were pathetically weak. having dual type attacks, like someone already said, really would up the strategy factor, and i really, really hope its implemented next time... also, i hope the starter trio next gen is like Psychic, Fighting, Dark... now that would make for a change from whatever we've had so far...

They really have made enough types and pokemon. You can see on some of the new pokemons that Gamefreak are starting to go out of ideas.

No because there are too many types then. But I like that a move should be two types. Like maybe each pokemon will have there OWN move. Like for Omanyte. Squeeze. Rock comes from one side, and water comes from the other side to sandwich the foe. 20% of flinch. Omanyte is Rock and Water and therefore, Squeeze is his move.

But isn't Tri Attack the combination of Electric, Fire, and Water or something like that? and that would mean they already started some combination with Doduo and Dodrio, although they never continued making attacks like that, I think it was a good idea that they stopped with those attacks, but in the next game I would like to see some new attacks, the same ones are getting boring, but atleast they could keep the same attacks but make them look different when they hit the opponent, that would be cool

Ya...but digital is just kind of a rip-off of electric and steel and if it was called "DigiPokemon" then it's too close to Digimon, it's like stealing their idea so not DigiPokemon

I think there are too many types of pokemon. Few more are going to cause confusion to many people.

I, also, think steel type should change into metal type because, for example, the type is STEEL and the move is IRON tail or METAL claw. I suggest steel renaming into METAL and all IRON moves into METAL moves...:P

Yeah, but Steel, Iron, and Metal are all related so it doesn't really matter, maybe they can make an attack possibly called Steel Strength or something to represent it more, but I think they chose Metal Claw instead of Steel Claw and Iron Tail instead of Steel Tail because it sounds better and why would they want the attacks to sound weird when they can just change Steel to a related word, like Irol, Metal, etc. To them it makes more sense, and apparently to me it makes more sense too =P

New types do cause imbalance to the metagame. Also Alien is nonsense because the rest can describe the pokemon a bit. A bug type obviously is a bug, a grass type is obviously some type of plant. The thing about alien is the fact that it's just not like that. What the heck would an alien be weak to? For a fire type it's pretty obvious, water puts it out, sand (ground) puts it out, rocks cover it up and put it out. Alien would only work for a pokedex description, not as a type. Light, I said was a rip off of dark. The whole point of dark was to balance the metagame, I don't see a new "light" type being able to do that. Wind is essentially the same thing as flying unless you want pokemon to start making little elementals that fly around, which would just be weird, since everything's meant to be some kind of creature. New types don't really work. As I said they were introduced in 2nd gen to try to balance the metagame.

Why no alien? What would alien be weak to or strong to? We already have many pokemon from outerspace and they tend to be psychic typed for example, Metagross, Solrock and Lunatone. I see no point in changing there psychic type to alien type. It sounds to me that the alien type is an excuse to make an overpowered type.

Not those types but I wouldn't my a new type in the next game (a new type as in one new type). Light would be a good consideration as a type. However I think they should focus on duel types like a Big-Fire type or a Ghost-Water type.

I think the alien type is something like the dragon type. For example, charizard is a dragon but his type is fire. I agree with the alien type because there is already a nonsense type, the dragon type. It could be strong against itself, like dragon, and weak against itself and fire...More types with more strengths and weaknesses, I think, will unbalance the game...It's my opinion...

Yeah, I think it sould be a ghost/normal combination to protect the pokemon from Ghost, Normal & fight type moves...Great idea

alien = nonsense light = most stuff related to light are plant/bug/psychic already. wind = flying.BrunoBRS

They have ghost and bug so why not alien.

Why does everyone think psychic and light are the same thing,? And how the hell can a bugrelate to light, bugs are little creatures and light is something completely different.

Wind and Flying are not exactly the same thing.

Why no alien? What would alien be weak to or strong to? We already have many pokemon from outerspace and they tend to be psychic typed for example, Metagross, Solrock and Lunatone. I see no point in changing there psychic type to alien type. It sounds to me that the alien type is an excuse to make an overpowered type.

not that many

Well alien sounds cool but what I really want to see are different combination of types, even more than the current gen such as, say, Fire/Dragon, Ghost-Grass or Steel-Water can you imagine, it'd be awesome :DSim_genius

I agree with this. They already have a Water/Steel.

Combination types I really want to see are:

Ghost/Normal, Fire/Water, Fire/Grass, Poison/Steel, Electic/Ground, Ice/Dragon, and Rock/Ghost.

Yeah, I think it sould be a ghost/normal combination to protect the pokemon from Ghost, Normal & fight type moves...Great idea

From that list,i only agree with the ice/dragon types

There were two types that came to mind once I read this: Dust (I don't know how, just came) Giant (Read above) Glass (Hell I was staring out of the window) (You could add Plastic for fun) and Gem (Considering the earlier titles, could also be Material (even more confusing, huh?))
