Does the online just suck, or does the online still suck but there's something wrong with it right now? For the life of me, I can't seem to get a match! I've been trying for hours.

I'm pretty sure the Brawl online just sucks. Matchmaking is terrible.

Huh?

So you think that it's more important that Nintendo dedicates resources and first releases to the weakest areas when it comes to gaming? Not give the strongest regions the games first since they're better to the company?

Nintendo was better off giving Wii Fit and Mario Kart to the weakest region so they could cultivate new users before dropping a game that is ONLY for Nintendo fans.

Smash Bros is fan service, so it makes more sense to get MORE fans before you release the game.

I'm sorry, but that is a silly comment. My girlfriend is no fan of Nintendo, she's more of a Tetris DS and bejeweled type f fan. She has enjoyed a few matches of Super Smash Bros. before, and I know quite a few people that are more fans of other systems along with other games and would normally turn their noses up to Nintendo games, yet love Super Smash. Bros. Yes, I do know that the on-line has a lot of work to had done. You're bring too hard on someone for REALLY wanting the game already.

Im sorry you guys have to wait so long. I know how that wait can be. Me being in the US and watching Japan get it was rough. So I feel your guys pain. But just be aware. The online isnt what its cracked up to be. Lagging and late responsive button mashing. Not a good thing in a fighting game. People say all online fighting games are that way, but you'd think on SOME level it would be better. Mario Kart Wii is awesome online, and so is NiGHTS.

Here he came again, please just stop. There are a huge market in Europe/PAL and delaying a game this much sure is disgraceful to the Nintendo fans. Being the weakest region doesnt justify that Nintendo completely ignores a MAJOR title release.

No there's not a huge market, there's a very small market when you compare it against the two stronger regions.

North America is the leader but even Japan where their society has gone over to handhelds still beat out Europe so of course it makes sense to release games that will get a bigger base for Smash Bros.

Europe is not close to the other regions when it comes to sales.

That kinda proves my point right there though

You're the one who bought the game, she wouldn't be playing it unless you had it in the house.

Smash Bros is fan service. All the stages and music and trophies and characters are fan service. No one that's not a fan of it all cares about all of it.

So get more people interested in the brand before you release a game that depends on users knwing the brand.

Right, but isn't that the way you bring people into it. I buy the game, someone sees me playing it, they have never even heard of SSBB, and now they want it. Case in point, my cousin, had never even heard of the game, he came over, played it with me, he's more a sports games (football) player. Still, he bought the game. I bougth COD4 for my brother as a Christmas present then I played it. I had never even touched a COD game before. So now I own my very own copy of the game.

There will always be new fans, players and shoppers of all the games, SSBB is not the exception. Sure, I can agree that it is a fanservice, and I LOVE the fact. Would the game still be enjoyable without all of that, I am pretty sure that it would.

Yes, almost.

Europe almost sells as many copies as an entire region that's dedicated to the handheld.

Europe can't even beat the region where console games are in second place behind handheld games.

Doesnt matter. The European region is close to the Japanese market, atleast according to the Wii sales (SSBB is a Wii game) and therefore it would be idiotic to ignore such a huge market. Well what can you expect from Nintendo.

Except its not a huge market. You're zeroing in on the Japan and Europe numbers instead of looking down a line to see what the actual huge market is. I mean, I can't blame you; zeroing in on the Japan and Europe numbers lets you point to them as evidence of what you want to be true. Who doesn't want evidence to support their points? But you can call a Pinto a sports car all you want; its not going to become one.

As for whether SSBB would be fun still if it lost the fan service? No way. With online like that, the fan service is all that's holding it up right. If the characters we all know and love were gone, it would be labeled Shovelware in a heartbeat.

What part are you missing in all of this?

Europe is a console first, handheld second region.

Japan is a handheld first, console second region.

Just to expand on the Japanese region. Japan has seen it's console sales and software decline rapidly each year with more and more people choosing handhelds and their games. Nintendo is the only company to slow the decline of console/software sales with the Wii.

So console sales take second place in Japan yet they beat Europe. Overall Japan gives more money to Nintendo then Europe does.

So what's the point of giving the region that gives the least amount of money to Nintendo the best/better treatment?

I was very impatient and got the Freeloader and US Brawl a week after the USA launch, and it work fantastically on PAL Wii, and enjoy every minutes of it.

What are you not understanding? This has nothing to do with the handhelds. I dont care about Japan being a handheld frist/console second region. SSBB is a Wii game, the Wii market is growing much faster than Japan in Europe and is almost as big. Therefore it DESERVES the same treatment, what is so hard to understand?
