i know i will be in a tiny minority and no doubt get some abusive messages

but

i think super mario galaxy is over rated

there i said it

yes it's a good game and has some amazing sections, but i was more impressed the first time i played sunshine

prehaps it is cos i love 2D mario

prehaps it just didn't live up to the hype for me

i dont know, i just feel a little empty after playing it and went back to SNB3 on VC

how awesome would it be if nintendo did a true 2D mario on wii

come on! admit it, we would all be creaming in our pants!

I didn't hype Galaxy to be the best game ever made, so I wasn't dissapointed with it. I think it's an awesome game. Pretty high up on my "best games ever played-list", but not on the top. Wouldn't hurt with a bit harder difficulty and bigger worlds for the next Mario game. I don't really think it's underrated, but I think it could've been even more awesome.

I agree that it would be cool with a new 2D Mario game, but only as a WiiWare game.

Heh heh. Asking to be controversial.

SNB3? Sanjay Nahassapemapetalon's Brother (otherwise known as Apu) 3?

I've got 119 stars. Some of the purple coin challenges took me two tries instead of one. Harder difficulty wouldn't hurt the game at all, in my opinion..

For me, Galaxy destroyed Sunshine on every terms. Sunshine was plain and the FLUDD concept really sucked if you're asking me. I don't know yet about the difficulty since I just bought Super Mario Galaxy. But as for me, Sunshine is the worst 3D Mario platformer.

I'd like to see a 2D Mario platformer on the wiiware.

Yeah, I was also kind of dissappointed after playing Galaxy. I don't know why so many people think it is the best game ever or such things. The game is very fun and very well designed. The problem with it is that the game's difficulty could be much harder, comparing it Mario 64 and Sunshine, I don't understand why so many people hates Sunshine. So, I agree with you, it is kind of overrated.

Anyone who is either disappointed or dislikes Mario Galaxy's opinions are wrong.

I personally like the easier difficulty. This is the first Mario game that I've actually wanted to play through all 121 stars. Sunshine had hard as hell and boring levels, Mario 64 as well.

Good game but not the best and while certainly deserving of some praise it really isn't as great as everyone makes it seem.

smg has donerelatively poorly in japan

dont get me wrong i'm not knocking it, but why do so many people knock sunshine? i thought it genuinely tried to be a bit different

super paper mario is my choice on the wii, although the space level was crap, but it does contain the best ever line in any game. "GARY NO!" cracks me up just thinking of it now:D

If you love 2D Mario, then I don't understand how you can like Sunshine more than Galaxy. Galaxy has many platforming areas with a side view. That's as close as you can get to 2D Mario with 3D graphics. I don't remember anything like that in Sunshine. The only thing that comes close is the waterpackless levels.

I agree with TC, and the curves horrible. Too easy to beat, too hard to complete.

It's a fun, short game.

But, a annoyingly hard game for anyone who likes completing games. Some things in it are just so stupid.

it lived up to the hype alright a true successor of SM64, although it was lil more linear than SM64 thats what made it a bit easier but overall i dont thiink its over or under rated its a fantastic game. I bought it to get the same feeling when i played and conquer Sm64 and i got that and more, SMG is one of the best games I've played in my life.

I totally agree that it's overrated, but I totally disagree that Sunshine was better... I never finished Sunshine because I simply couldn't stand that damned FLUDD w/e it was. Galaxy is THE Wii game, and on a whole i've enjoyed it more than Twighlight Princess for reasons I have stated before... its just too damn similar to Ocarina of Time for its own good. It was almost as they ripped the game from the cartridge and made little changes. Galaxy on the other hand is a completely different beast. The problem I have with the game is, just with TP, its a 3D game and it doesn't feel as fresh and revolutionary as it did back in the day. Also, as some have stated, the worlds are just a little to small for my taste. Overrated on some levels, but I still applaud its performance because there is a level of detail here that no developer seems to give a damn about and thats why I love Nintendo. Mario 64 was on a whole much better in my opinion, it felt much more Mario than Galaxy. The castle HUB was ingenious, and when you compare it to the space observatory or whatever you want to call it... there really is no comparison.

honestly, i have a few over 60 stars right now, and this game... just doesn't live up to par. there was maybe 3 times i was actually challenged. 2 game-overs at most. i think the level theme design is just too ambitious to hold my attention. 3 stars per world? that's so weak. (and the comets weren't the greatest idea, either.) Nintendo defiently missed their long-time fan demografic imo.

on the whole, i just had more fun playing sunshine.

but, to be fair, i haven't finished galaxy yet, and i do plan on doing so. it's a very fun game and plays great on the wii.
