I don't think this is going to as exploitable as it was on MK DS, but we'll likely see a lot of players using the egg kart now.
I'd like to see him try to "snake" on a track with more obstacles and players in his way.
Snaking doesnt bother me too much. It is not cheating, so its not something that concerns me, although it isnt exactly fun to do.
Nice, I love snaking and it's my favorite thing to do in MKDS. It assures me a win pretty much every time against family ;-)
Why do people love snaking so much when it obviously ruins the game for everyone else?TankZorz
They state that it adds skill to the game, when all it really does is irritate. Constantly having to wiggle the d-pad back and forth rapidly in order to remain competitive blows.
Meaning? Its good that its gone. I agree that it's not needed but did you watch the video? That looks an awful lot like snaking. I guess we'll see though. I'm still snagging two copies of it on Sunday.[QUOTE="TankZorz"][QUOTE="Calvin079"] Nope. Its great to finally have it out.

This track isnt even in 7 is it?
Scratch that, it is indeed lol.
It's not really similar to MKDS.
Plus, with communities you can choose who you play with ... just play with people who don't do that.
lucky nintendo 3ds games can get updates right?? I love snaking in mario kart ds because it was fun to do and feeling the sense of speed ect but I think this game should have a clean slate so everyone can start evenly and find some other mechanic to exploit later down the road.
? what's snaking?..I don't get it.superbuumansnaking 101:
when you drift boost ( get blue or red sparks on your wheels) and let go of the drift button after you turn the corner/curve you are given a small boost in speed
snaking is when you try to get drift boosts on a straight paths by going in a snake like motion. people who snake are tricking the game into thinking you are turning a corner and drift boosting continuously throughout the whole race.

Ah ic thanx..lol..I'm guilty of doing that...never knew it was call snaking :PYou could argue that it's skill vs luck but I call it exploiting a loop hole. I don't think it's necessarily cheating but I think it's bad for the game and the overall enjoyment for most of us.im always for skill vs luck...so im cool with it...

Its not :D[QUOTE="Heirren"]
That is NOT snaking. And personally, I hope snaking is still in the game.
Calvin079
That video shows no real snaking. I'm also surprised people don't like it. It ads a lot of replay value to the game, because there's so many ways to improve lap time. Not only that, but it makes for some INTENSE multiplayer competition.

Because we all know that everyone plays mario kart for intense multiplayer competition.[QUOTE="Heirren"][QUOTE="Calvin079"] Its not :D

Because we all know that everyone plays mario kart for intense multiplayer competition.Snaking isn't the problem with that. It is the way in that there was no structure to the online component in the DS version. They need to match by skill level, or give people the option to ignore somebody if theyd like. Taking depth out of the game is not the way. It was done with SSF4 and killed the online component--at least for SF fanatics(people that really like the GAME street fighter).
Perhaps there should be no option to turn off racing assists in Forza and GT.
I have a horrible feeling that not every character can do it, and only a unique combination of car parts and metal mario's driving characteristics can accomplish this.. Because so far I haven't seen anyone else be able to do it. Which would mean this game was completely broken before it was even released if one character could snake and others couldn't
Judging from that video, it looks like snaking is back, but not completely since the same video shows that tricks are back as well. The amount you're able to snake on a track would be based on the amount of tricks you're able to pull off on the same track, I think. If thats true, then we'd get sore thumbs on the less advanced tracks again =.=;;
