Because the Wii wasn't built to accomodate HD.

wii only outputs 480p (i think) as its highest, nowhere near 1080i or whatever the specific code is. either way, no built for hd

A lot of people don't understand the concept of HD.

Having an HD tv does not make your tv output HD necessarily. To get tv channels in HD, you need to pay for installation and a special cable. For gaming, you need an HD cable specific for that system. Wii does not support HD at all. x360 and ps3 (ps2 i believe too) however, do.

My family has a 57" Sony Bravia, it took some fiddling but depending on the tv and settings offered by it you can still make Wii games look good on it. when I first turned it on with component cables it looked like crap. Rosalina's face was all blurry and it was jaggy heaven. Now I got it set to full screen and aside from seeing a jaggy on extraclose-ups it looks fantastic.

Get component cables for HDTV's.
And don't forget to switch on the HD mode in the Wii Options menu.

Yeah, I almost jumped over the counter and kicked his ass....this is how it went "Hey do you guys have any DDR Extreme games?" "No" then I saw and heard him say "stupid ***" to his like little cashier friend. There's been other cases where they're just complete jerks....but there's just too many times to explain. I'm never working there, working there automatically makes you a jerk (well not really, just making a joke) :P.

I think people largely have this mistaken notion that LCD and HDTVs in general are like "old fashioned" CRTs in being more or less plug and play. That just isn't the case. There is a lot more that goes into getting a good picture on an LCD, and if you just bring home a new HDTV, unbox it, and hook it up and just roll with the default settings, you are almost assuredly not getting optimal performance.

SMG looks great on my 42" Vizio, but before I took the plunge into HDTV last year I spent a good 30-40 hours researching/educating myself before diving in. Even though the Vizio isn't a top end LCD by any stretch, I always get compliments on the picture quality because I took the time to learn how to set one up properly. I also don't have any problems with jaggies on Wii games like some people report here.

That's why long winded explanation as to why SMG looked like garbage on an HD LCD at Gamestop - because they didn't know what they were doing and didn't have it setup properly.

I saw Galaxy at EB Games in HD, and the graphics didn't look as smooth. I think that the HD Cables weren't plugged in, but I could be wrong.
