yeah, I did that, and it still only seems like 5% brighter or so, hardly a difference from what I can tell. The colors are a tinytad brighter and much more "yellow". :-P skreetpreacha
uhh, serously?
The last brightness setting BLINDS ME.
You are as someone has stated earlier, obviously light blind, there is a substantial incremental difference of over 10% in each light setting alone, let alone between all of them. Either that or something is very wrong with your DSL.
Ask Santa for a new pair of eyes, that's the best I can reccommend. There are countless DSL test shots around from when it was first released that clearly demonstrate the difference, and most cameras can't even pic up the last brightness picture because it just looks like a load of white when seen through a lens, when it's that bright and you can't see the slightest difference then something is clearly very wrong with you.
Yeah it is not as sleek. I didnt own a phat one but from what I have read is that many people prefer the bigger buttons. I have bigger hands then most, since I am tall (6'6") and sometimes the buttons feel too small. Not enough to cause me any problems though...god the old DS was ugly. :S
i cant really compare from personal experiaces because i never had a DS phat, however i hear DS phat is about the same as the second brightness setting on the DS lite.

IMHO, the picture seems like it shows that the Lite is much more visible at different angles, not necessarily ALOT brighter when facing directly at it. (Notice how tilted the DS's are in the pic? As if someone were trying to exaggerate the difference.)

Notice they are both tilted at the same angle though (from what I can tell)...which makes your argument completely worthless, the same brightness ratio between the two would stay the same even if the brightness levels where to change with a different angle. If you want go check a video on it on youtube and see them from different angles.
Your opinion on what is brighter or not is invalid, it is fact, now please, either except this as fact or disprove it, otherwise please leave.

Not true, the old DS is actually a little less with backlight on than the DSL is on the lowest brightness. If you can't see a difference when increasing the DSL's brightness beyond that in comparision to the DSL, well, there's something wrong with you, clearly.
The 2AM test is good enough evidence for me.
Also there should be no "yellowing" of the whites onscreen, I know that doesn't happen on my unit.

lol, wow, you guys sure are defensive about the DS. Is Nintendo paying ur bills or what?
skreetpreacha
It's not defensiveness, it's utter contempt and sheer exasperation that anyone could be so oblivious to something that should be so obvious. Don't assume we are mad at you for being against Nintendo or anything like that, were are irritated because of you yourself *points finger dramatically*
well, I'm sorry you feel that way. It's just a game forum, I don't think anybody is really irritated but you. It's justmy opinion. And I love Nintendo, whatcha talkin?! :-) God bless. skreetpreachaWell it is safe to simply ignore some people who ramble on about invalidating opinions. It is after all an opinion and everyone is entitled to one. As for the brightness of the DS it is by far brighter, that is a published spec. If you can't see a difference then there must be something wrong with yours and I would recommend exchanging it.
