I came home because it was my little brothers B-Day party. I left the wii at home (I'm at college). Well one of my brothers bought him Mario Pary 8. Whe the game started all controllers pointed fine. The buttons worked. then we had to move the contoller up to make Mario jump. Well all worked but controller 4. I was like WTF. I moved up over and over again and still nothing. I then poped in Wii sports. I swing the wii-mote and still nothing happened. I was like. Damn!!! So I drove to walmart and bought a new wii-mote. Anyone I thought these things were invincible. Hope non of my other controllers break. I was gonna buy Zack and Wiki too. Thats gonna have to wait now.
PS When I came home this controller had no batteries in it for some reason (I bought like 8 recharagble batteries and but them in the controllers telling them to not take it out unless to recharge). Maybe someone threw it or hit it very hard. Not sure because I was not home. Worst case senerio was that the controller was wore down because of all of the motions (swinging arm etc). I hope someone damaged it by actually dropping it or something. This way I know it wont happen to my other controllers.

Take the broken one apart and get pictures of the inside for us. Or read your warranty manual and see if you can get a new one, either way.

OUCH!!! A little harsh but at the same time I can see why you'd say that.

TC, any chance that you tried re-syncing the controller with new batteries. I've had problems in the past when one of the controllers will just stop working. Either the batteries are no good or it may have just lost the sync to the Wii.

Just to make sure, do try using new batteries, do any of the lights flash on?

Re re synced it like 2 times and nothing worked. I just ran out and bought a new one because my little brother had his friends over that they wanted to play Mario Party 8 at that moment. And their was a broken controller. I had my wii for almost a year (launch). I hope no one else controller stops working all of a sudden.

I think someone messed with it while you were gone. It would suck if it got worn out from too much using.

Is it just the motion-sensing that's screwed up?? Can you still point with it?? Try knocking theremote against your knee. Similar thing happened to me 2 weeks after I got my Wii and it's been fine since.... I got it in December.

Yep only motion-sensing is screwed up. I'll try that the next time I come home (Sat.) If it fixes the wii-mote would I be able to return the newly one I just bought (I bought it at wall-mart)?

Well can I tell them the truth. The wiimote works I bought it because I thought my controller was broken and when I got home someone told my just to hit the old "broken" wii-mote and it fixed it. Since I already have 4 controllers I do not need this. Would that work?

I know how annoying that is. My cousin came round a few days after I got my Wii and somehow broke one of my Wii remotes. I was annoyed, but manged to get a refund from the shop I bought it. :)

But now ive got my Wii Jackets, I dont think thatll ever happen again.

update: Okay I came home and I hit the broken wii-mote. I hit a like 10 times and still it was broken. So I left it alone for then entire day (Sat). The next day I hit it like 25 times and this time alot harder than list time. I even started to bang the back of the wiimote on the desk. Then I tried it and it worked. Thank you prolifik1 for your advice you saved me $42. I was able to go to walmart tell them the truth and get a refund. After I got the extanchange I went ahead and bought Mario 64 VC. Later I will pick up Zack and Wiki.

Lets be clear, the Wii remote doesn't have a Gyroscope in it. That would be very very expensive.

Trying to split hairs on why the remote broke helps how? If another one breaks, are you going to sell your Wii just because 2 out of millions upon millions broke? The remote stopped working - a simple fact that doesn't require any further investigation or thought, it happens to a ton of people, you got a new one, another one will break in the future as all controllers do. They are not invincible either FYI. Also remember you're leaving your Wii for kids to play with - so hell yes you're going to break one controller, you're lucky that's all that broke. Be smart, and take your Wii with you even if you aren't going to play it, or be prepared for more kids to break probably the console itself when they sail a wiimote in to it - it won't be any fault in the software or hardware that causes someone else to break it.

No problem man! I should have specifically told you to knock the BACK of the remote though. I apologize for any bruising I may have caused you.
