So the 3DS will be $80 cheaper in the US and $50 cheaper in Canada?

Sorry I'm not totally sure about this, is this right? Does anyone know why the discount isn't the same for all of N.A.?

According to the press release from Nintendo of Canada, it'll be $169.99 as well and Canadians can be part of the Ambassador Program if they already own a 3DS. Link.

It will be $169.99 in Canada on August 12th. The only difference is that stores here have been selling the 3DS for $199.99 for the past week. And hilariously, Costco is already selling the 3DS for $169.99.

It's just a business trick. The general public don't know of the price drop. They are trying to interest as many people into buying the 3DS at a higher price. They make them think it's a huge discount, but actually, as we know, it's 30 $ more than what it will be.

the CAD is stronger than the USD these days, order from Amazon.com (not Amazon.ca), choose shipping to Canada, see if that helps

It will also be about $100-$120 cheaper in Europe (going by the Japanese price cut). We get it pretty bad here.

The dollar's not quite strong enough for that to be advantageous. I only order from Amazon.com when there's an insane deal. You might save five bucks on the price of a 3DS if you order from the US site, but you'll have to pay $10 shipping and about $20 in import fees. I get a total of about $200US from the Amazon.com site all told, which is about $195CDN after it gets converted on your credit card. It's $190 after tax if you buy it in store here or from Amazon.ca. And it doesn't take two to three weeks to arrive.

Their sale is over (Walmart also had it at $199.99, that may still be on), although Costco is carrying it for $169.99 if you have a membership.
