How to these people base these predictions? Inside scoop or just a prediction?
Also would you want a HD Wii in 2010 or would you rather just have the next console HD?

hopefully 720 isnt the max nintendo will do i want 1080
also im hoping its just a upgrade like the n64 expansion pack dont feel like having to buy a new console so soon
Would it be possible to do that with the Wii hardware we have now? Some sort of a device that makes the current Wii system HD?hopefully 720 isnt the max nintendo will do i want 1080

I could care less about HD graphics. If they do that i doubt i would rebuy or upgrade my Wii i see no problem with its graphics.
i dont either but so many experts analysts keep spewing bs that never come true that they are the least source of trust. Most of those so called analystics see the market from a third person view without true knowledge of the gaming sceneario, and players choices, and thats why they constantly keep making unnacurate predictions. For instance a mere HD wii change wont put the wii on par graphically with the pc-like consoles, which was never the point for the wii.To do that, it would be required a whole new console and just taking that statement from that article, you can see how uninformed it is.So nay this is just a filler articleI could care less about HD graphics. very true making the current wii into hd wont put it on par wit the 360 and ps3because the processor on the wii is to weaknintendo would need to change the processor and graphic chip to make it compete wit current gen graphics
Unless its a full on successor to the Wii, no. I don't think the deal with DS, DSlite, and DSi should happen for consoles. I wouldn't even bother with HD unless they are going to do it to the point that it would make the Wii capable of supporting quality multiplats from the other consoles. If they don't do that, what is the point in paying for it? Slightly better graphics for the same game library.
Pachter is always wrong about everything. If he says there will be a new Wii in 2010, expect Nintendo to stick with the regular Wii until 2080.

I think it could be risky if it's introduced next year unless they plan on continuing support of the Wii for a long time, but supporting two systems concurrently would spread their development teams thin. I guess they could aim the two systems at different markets though. Having said that, I would love to see a more powerfull Wii. On the other hand, Microsoft and Sony are supposed to launch their versions of motion control at E3 this year, so perhaps Nintendo is worried they need to counter.Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter...Tot Thorsen
And that's all I need to know about that article. Moving on.
Oh, and as for your second question, I'm not really in a rush to buy a second Wii.
Why would they release an HD Wii in 2010? The Wii's life cycle hasn't been exhausted yet, especially with Wii-motion + coming out. Unless it could have graphical and online capabilities high enough so that they could port multi-plats easily, then it would be pointless.ChojutoI think the point would be to compete with Sony and MS on a graphical and number crunching level. At first I thought no way, not until Wii sale die down, but then I thought about the DSI and the DS Lite.
i wouldn't mind a Wii upgrade, i think we should all expect Nintendo to follow a bare bones tech approach to consoles at time of release
if theres a Wii HD,and in 2010, it'd have a dual (or single) core 1.7Ghz CPU, 256MB RAM, and 256MB VRAM, probably with 8GB-16GB flash memory with SDHC card slot, using DVDs, displaying in 720p and 1080p thru component and not HDMI, Wii motion plus built in, Blue Tooth, WiFi
that'd be basically a Wii Netbook
i honestly can't say i'd mind a 2010 Wii upgrade, or at least a 2010 Nintendo fall conference announcment of a Wii upgrade
I dunno if we will get one next year (seems a bit too quick), but regardless, a HD Wii (Or "Wii 2" of sorts) would be very welcomed as long as it wasn't costly. Maybe with a coule other features.
What these analysts do is they try to make a prediction on when hardware changes will occur based on past hardware histories. Since the wii has been out since 06, they figure a 4 year gap would be prime time for a sorta upgrade, or new console perhaps.
I'm curious as to how this would work... would we send in our Wiis to get upgraded for a fee, and new Wiis would be sold already upgraded?Would it be an entirely new console? Would it have a harddrive to give us better storage? Could we expect it to be a Cinderblock like the 360/ps3?
How much would something like that cost though? If you can get a Basic 360 for around $200, would that be how much it would cost?i wouldn't mind a Wii upgrade, i think we should all expect Nintendo to follow a bare bones tech approach to consoles at time of release

i wouldnt buy another a nintendo home console due to the fact that nintendo lacks good 3rd party games so i think im goin to stick wit pc gaming and nintendo's handhelds unless they fix the problem of lack of good games
i also feel like nintendo are making games that zero skill in nessary such as ssbb and mario kart (no more wave dashing and snaking)
also for those that hate wave dashing and snaking they could of put a option to turn it on or off
Bah, predictions... If the average prediction was correct, most people probably wouldn't even be having this discussion right now. If no one remembers, the Wii wasn't even supposed to be halfway to where it stands right now, according to the majority of predictions that were made in the past. Why anyone would make a big deal of this now is beyond me, especially when Nintendo has proved that its stance on HD gaming was more accurate than even the company had hoped for. Why throw that out the window now, especially when your system is still doing very well?
A laughable prediction at best, I say. :P
Oh, and about that second question, I don't care right now. I can't play the games in HD right now anyway, so it wouldn't bother me if the system went HD or not. Not that I see this coming, though...

USB is far too slow and non-dedicated. And no sane company would make you send a console back to upgrade it (and they certainly don't want you to open it up yourself).
I don't get it. For the people that already have a WII... Nintendo expects us to buy another WII just for HD? No. I'll pass. I rather just get the PS4 or something.

bigger mystery is why create a new account just to dig up a random two year old thread??? Are you that bored?
Ha yes, I was :P Actually I'm a GameFAQs user more which would explain why the Gamespot account is rarely used. Mystery solved again. Please Log In to post.
