Wow. I defended EA in a comment about a week ago... I should not have. Tiger Woods 08... sorry Tiger Woods 07 version 2.0 is a major dissapointment. EA has ported the PS2 graphics, no excuse for this! I played Metroid last night, and the graphics were nice, so I know that the Wii is capable of better! No online play on a turn based game. I mean come on, they are selling this game for $50.00 with no real improvements, can we at least have online play? EA should be ashamed of themselves! The Wii still is selling out at stores and they cannot bring themselves to fully support it. I am starting to feel this way about other games as well.... Madden has the same old washed up commentary... Nascar 08 was a frickin joke... see where i'm going with this. Does anyone have a complaint email for EA? Everyone should send nasty emails to EA about their lack of support and putting out half-baked games!

They had 4 and a half months to do the game, this one wasn't going to be that much different. It's a better game but when you only have a third of a year to do everything you can't make that many jumps in the game.

Wait until next year's version before you pass judgement on the franchise and company.

My point is they shouldn't try to put it out for $50 with no real improvemnts, maybe a $5 download for new courses and a software upgrade for the slight change in controls, but a whole new game? EA is trying to insult my intelligence, so yeah i'm gonna pass judgement. Plus there is a HUGE bug on the " other system ".

EA always takes forever to make significant improvements. Look how long people complained about Madden become stale, and EA wasn't trying to improve their game. EA found that people buy the new versions of their sports games with very little improvements, so they probably figure why spend money if it doesn't matter.

That's why I only buy a new EA Sports game every 2 or 3 years. I'm not a huge sports fan (outside of the Red Sox), so the updated rosters isn't any deal at all to me.

I wonder what's going to happen to the NFL franchise when John Madden dies?

They're going to still sell the games when he dies, its a cash cow. Look how many people buy the game every year. He may die, but the series never will.

And I do agree, EA needs to get their act together. I still think that ESPN made a better football game before EA made that monopoly of a deal.

Oh well.

Well obviously they'll still make the game. I was just wondering if their's an announcer/football figure big enough (no pun intended) to fill Madden's shoes. I don't think they would still use Madden's prerecorded voice 5 years after he's dead.

1. No it should not be reduced in price because there are poeple who didn't buy the game last year. There also cannot be a download because the Wii doesn't allow that. You knew both of those things before you bought the game.

2. It doesn't matter what's going on with the other systems, we're talking about you and the Wii version here, don't try to cloud the dicussion with other things that don't apply.

As with all games it comes down to being a responsible consumer and knowing what you're getting before you shell out your money. Since you post here I wouold also gather you know a bit more about the game then just the title. You'd know that it had less then 5 months of development from the last release and you'd also know how the game was shaping up because of all the updates on this and other sites.

The Wii had a late release and that means that all of it's yearly games don't have enough time from their release at launch to their next "regular" release so for any of those games you should go into buying being VERY informed about them so you don't get burned.

For the people who didn't buy last year's version this Tiger Woods is a good game and is better in the major aspects of the game with it's controls. For the rest it's just too soon between releases and that's where researching a game before buying it comes into play.

Honestly, the way EA is going now, I wouldn't be surprised if they just compile all of his old comments and throw them in after he dies.

What's this slap business? If you think a game's no good, don't buy it. That's the only kind of message EA will pay attention to.

For everyones info I did not buy the game, I played it at a friend's house for about 4 hours before coming home and playing Metroid. By the way I am not "clouding" anything. My topic is "Someone slap EA" not Tiger Woods 08 sucks, so its not just a Tiger Woods discussion.

Wait, so you're ranting about a game you don't even own? lol

EA has been in with the Wii from the start and very well with Madden and Carbon at launch. They followed it up with SSX and they took the chance and put Tiger on the Wii when there was little in Nintendo's history to make sure it would sell well. They also released A Harry Potter and Medal of Honor game for each game's fanbase.

They followed that up by putting out a much improved Madden with the complete game, almost two dozen games, and online. Then they didn't skip this year's Tiger crowd even though it's been like I said less then 5 months and released an improved Tiger.

They're going to follow it up this holiday season with a new Need for Speed, an online 8 person multiplayer NBA Live, FIFA soccer, and My Sims.

EA is getting the games to the people and not ignoring the platform. Right now just like many other devs not called Nintendo they're behind as far as what the Wii can do but they've also dedicated a studio into making it happen.

EA is one of the companies that Wii fans should respect for what they've been willing to do for the Wii so far and the investment they've made in the console for the future.

This is the EA we all remember. Cheap ports at high prices. However the Wii version of Tiger Woods 08 does look that tiny bit better.

Absolute bull. It's not a respect issue whatsoever. EA creates commodities that people choose to purchase. Tiger '08 is disingenous at best, being that it has almost no improvements whatsoever from the previous version.

I'm glad you think it's on the consumer to somehow know that the game hasn't changed. However plenty of people think that it's on EA to not release a 'new' product that isn't remotely new. It's milking at its worst.

I think it's being said that it shouldn't have been released at all. Not at least without making any actual changes besides the title. The only difference between buying Tiger 08 and Tiger 07 is the amount of money shelled out. That's what EA cares about. It doesn't matter if the $50 game is the same as the $30 game, so long as people buy the $50 game because the title sayd '08 and not '07. You don't release a new game just because it's nearing a new year, you're supposed to release it because it's a new edition with actual changes made.

BTW: you don't have to own a game to know its flaws. My best friend and I play his copy of Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 on the PS2. I wouldn't buy a wrestling game, but I've played enough to hold my own in a royal rumble. I also know that the target selection algorithm is dated and needs work. Hopefully that's something they'll address when they rework the controls for the 2008 game.

i think your missing the point Jaysonguy. None of us are complaining that much about Madden, SSX, Harry Potter and so on ( even thoughs there is plenty to complain about ). We as consumers don't appreciate a halfass game. EA throws sports games together and puts them out every year with little improvement, and for most games we say fine this is as good as it gets, but Tiger Woods 08 is a disgrace, NO EXCUSE FOR A PS2 PORT!! NO EXCUSE FOR NO ONLINE!! Madden has it, NBA will have it, FIFA will have it, so why not Tiger Woods?

It's not passing judgement. EA has put out a lot of crap or even "BETA"-type software for us to purchase at $50-$60 a game... and then it's recycled for next year's investment of another $50-$60. Thanks.

They are terrible to their employees, lie to the public about it, and on top of that, spit unfinished games at us and charge us full-price for it. With the technology of downloading software, EA could be a little more humble by giving people the option of downloading the new rosters for their year-old games and make new players buy the full version. In this case, people wouldn't feel like they're getting ripped off for purchasing a $50-$60 game and having to repeat the cause the next year.

But knowing EA and their greedy-ways, they would never even process an idea like that. They're too busy swimming in everyone else's money and beating down on their poor employees.

I definitely agree that EA seems to onlycome out with any new and breaking ideas for their games every 2-3 years. The one question that I have, and please respond if you know the answer, is why EA releases NCAA Football on every console but nintendo's?! I mean Madden is great for football fans, but I'm more of a college guy than a pro football one. The way I see it, there really is no good reason why this is happening. It's a great seller with anyone who is a Madden-holic and wants to import new draft classes, as well as seeing how the Wii's new control scheme works out great, why wouldn't you start selling it on the Wii?! It's a dumb move on EA's part both financially (as they'd make plenty of $ on it) and supplying a demand (people want more football, it sells). So again, this is why EA is troubling me and sorry, no comment of Tiger '08 as I haven't played it yet but Metroid Prime 3 is totally sweet, way above the 8.5 rating it got.

just do like I do and let your friends buy EA games... then go home and play your good games ************************* ************************* EDIT: after glancing at other people's posts and looking at the history of spots games in general, I think we should all accept the fact that - other than graphically and control wise - sports games cannot really be improved all that much. People keep complaining that EA throws games into the market after little revision from last year...well, real football has not really changed either. If you, as a consumer and smart investor (supposedly), know EA won't revamp a game as much as you would like, don't buy the game. Rent it or borrow it or steal it :P

All of the EA sports games are going to be better in 09 than the 08 versions. EA barely had anytime to make the Wii versions, so they just ported.

It's milking at its worst.

skelly7483

So what you're saying is that Tiger 08 shouldn't have been released on the Wii?

i think your missing the point Jaysonguy.

Agreed.

Ya it's stupid... every developer continues to treat the wii like a redheaded stepchild. They aren't even releasing NHL 08 wii which I think could be awesome. My guess is they'll release it in spring so they can make a version 2.0 6 months later as they did with tiger woods. Hopefully someone else jumps on it since EA hasn't had a chance to monopolize NHL gaming yet.

The Godfather was really good, and they seem to be doing all the right things with Medal of Honor: Heroes 2.

We will see.

Everyone should send nasty emails to EA about their lack of support and putting out half-baked games!

skelly7483

you come to expect this from ea sports over the years.
