All I see is a launch trailer which probably shows the 360 or PS3 version, not the Wii version.

Same here. It may say Wii, but I think they just dropped the only available trailer they had. Regardless, while it may look better on other systems, I will get this for Wii, big Sonic fan and I like him on Nintendo.

I don't think it will look that much worse anyway. If the Wii version ends up looking better than Secret Rings than I'm cool with it.

this game looks fun but looks have always been decieving with sonic games. especially in the last 8 years or so. Last sonic game I truly loved was sonic adventure for dreamcast. i bought the gc port when it came out those 4 years ago or something. i love that game to death and wished they would've stuck with that type of format and great music.

but 2d/3d mix aint bad i guess. i just hope the game is good. and i'm glad its just sonic this time and not 4-5 other characters to choose from.

It looks very good. From the trailer, i would guess that the game is building on The Secret Rings and going back to sonics beginings, 2D and all speed. This may be the Sonic game we've been hoping for.

The same goes for Call of Duty 3, Madden, Guitar Hero, and a few others:roll: However, there is one multiplatform game that I am looking forward to on the Wii more than the 360 or PS3, and that is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

based on what? It will probably play the same on all platforms.

I wish that developers would at least try to make wii games look good, it will probably look just like the PS2 version

From Ign:

"This game has not yet been officially announced for this platform. Please check back here for more details."

Link

I dont count this as a reliable website, but Gamestop lists Sonic Unleasehd as a Wii title.

Link

It also has a good deal on Sonic unleashed. I put it in a spoiler tag because its a lot of info.
SAN FRANCISCO (April 3, 2008) - SEGA of America and SEGA of Europe, Ltd. today announced that everyone's favorite hedgehog is once again breaking new ground in the upcoming title, Sonic UnleashedTM. The latest installment in the multi-million selling franchise starring the beloved blue hedgehog will take players on an unforgettable high-speed journey around the globe in a way never before experienced in the world of Sonic. Fans will be treated to an array of new, exciting and unique next generation features to heighten their experience. Sonic Unleashed is currently under development for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, Wii home video game system from Nintendo and PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.

"It is an exciting time for the Sonic franchise as we look to reinvent our hero while staying true to the spirit of what made him an industry icon," said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing at SEGA of America. "Sonic Unleashed will introduce a new, unexpected storyline along with innovative gameplay that compliments traditional skills and features, allowing players to experiment and engage in new ways."

Having been broken apart by the evil Dr. Eggman, it's up to Sonic to put the pieces of the world back together again by retrieving the power of the chaos emeralds! In doing so, Sonic will find himself in a race against time and faced with an unusual situation that will challenge him in ways never before seen. Both day and night play different, yet important, roles in Sonic's newest quest... as the sun sets, a new adventure awakens. By completing a wide variety of action-packed stages, spanning the seven broken continents of the world, gamers will need to unleash Sonic's amazing abilities to save the world, and himself!

Players will have an opportunity to engage in ways never before done with the Sonic franchise, so in addition to running at high speeds, which will be highlighted in four new speed mechanics, combat fighting now becomes possible. New combat, movement, functional abilities and platforming will be introduced to offer increased depth and variety.

Sonic Unleashed will offer a re-defined experience for fans and newcomers of the franchise alike by combing picturesque & detailed scenery, an expansive world with multiple paths to choose from and dynamic viewpoints for an immersive and renewed gaming atmosphere. Along with seamless 3D to ****c 2D camera transitions, the game is built on a powerful, new proprietary "Hedgehog Engine," which introduces impressive lighting abilities and new technology tailor made for Sonic's new speed capabilities. Under development for approximately three years, the Hedgehog Engine will help to produce a visually rich next generation look and feel with elements of ****c Sonic gameplay components.
EDIT: Kotaku says its official and has a little bit more info about the game

Yeah, but no matter what system, it wont save it from being mediocre. Lately Sonic games have been disappointments.

Half-assed PS2 port* + mediocre franchise for almost a decade = not worth my time

*Not 1 multiplatform game has been given proper treatment by any development studio since the wii has been introduced. I'm working off of evidence and probability here.

I don't understand why people say Sonic doesn't work in 3d when Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast was gold. Instead of trying to change it(Sonic Adventure 2/Sonic Heroes/ Sonic 2005), they should have just reused that formula and build upon it.

Kind of like how Mario Galaxy built upon Mario 64.

I am skeptical about this game knowing Sonic Team's reputation in the last several years regarding the Sonic franchise. Almost everything Sonic it touches has been mediocre or disappointing. Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is the recent case.

It better have an average score of 8.0 or above, or else I will not buy nor rent this game. I have high standards in gaming.

Ever since Sonic games went to 3D they all failed. Hopefully this game will show what Sonic games could really do.

Personally I think this takes the two best Sonic game in the last 3 years (Rush and Secret Rings) and combines them. From the looks of it it isn't that bad. Remember the truck chase in SA2? That'd be a perfect part for an on rails portion. And the story seems better than Secret Rings (OMG! GENIESSS!) and the Day/night thing might be cool to. Melee combat is old for sonic (Shadow had it, it SUCKED) but it will probably be only for the "were" sonic. All in all it looks promising but I'm not reserving it just yet. But the robots look cool.
