This maybe has been made before, but does the Zelda francise need voice acting?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I really dont care, but if I had to pick I would say no voice actors.sman3579
mt vote... no audio... IF they HAVE to do it, then I would like at least link to be mute. But I would prefer overall.. NO voice at all :P
No
That's the lazy way out
Twilight Princess already showed how bad a game can be when you're lazyÂ
There's no reason whatsoever

What?
I don't want to hear link speak because it will never fit expectations.Akel777
that's a typical answer you'll get, but my answer is why not. it's now, almost 2009, voices in games are basically in all the games except for nintendo's titles (I'm very broad about this so don't jump on me). But I want a new experience from zelda. the jump from 2D to 3D was amazing, and now i want a whole another way to play zelda. whatever nintendo does, ill buy it either way.Â

Adding things like the dog and the dark world.
They were awful and were lazy ways to try to advance the series.
The core should have been strengthened. His role in the world should have been strengthened.
Voicework past what we have now would just be another lazy way trying to advance the seriesÂ

Miyamoto wanted to keep Link silent so that you will be able to associate with him. The intention is that you will feel like you are Link when you play the game.
If they gave him a voice, 99% of all people won't be able to relate to him (the 1% consists of people who will have the same voice as him).

You can't compare a gameplay element like the dark world or the wolf, with voice acting.
It's not like if they added voice acting, Miyamoto would be jumping on stage at E3 saying "it's got voices now!!!".
Â
It would be an addition, not a lazy attempt to advance the series.

i could see that, but they could do something like mass effect, or fallout 3 where we have an option to pick what we want to say during a conversion. i know, people have their own different opinions on how he will sound, but nintendo hasn't tried it, and the franchise has been doing without voice in so long, it wouldn't hurt if they try. but to me though, i don't care. i just want another zelda.Â

Nintendo is notorious for their horrible Voice Acting (Mario Sunshine, Disaster: Day of Crisis, etc). I say let's keep him silent.
Honestly, I don't see why not. Keep Link silent, but the rest of the world should be able to talk... it only adds to the immersion, which is something all game developers should be striving for anyway.
I'm perfectly content with text myself, but I think a speaking Hyrule world would appeal to more fans.
Link speaking would ruin his personality, but I'm up for all the other characters having voice acting.Erebyssial
this
link is the skinny farm kid that just so happens to save princesses and other world from damnation. hearing his strained adolescence would be painful while battling flaming leviathans, and mountainous nemesis. no voice for link, but zelda could have a voice!

Well you must not have played MP3, the voice work in that was top notch. What are you going to say, that it wasnt developed by Nintendo, well neither was Disaster my friend. and Mario games are suppose to be funny, your not suppose to take the voices series.
Link should not talk, like Gordon Freeman, a man of few words, but for me, Zelda games needs some voice actors.
On a second thougth, Ganondorf shouldnt speak too, and probably Zelda, let the protagonist in mute.

No, actually. I would say that the voice overs for MP3 were more cheesy than Halo.
Another great example of terrible voice acting in a Nintendo game.

Or you could just have awful taste, and a poor ear for good voice work.

Ok.
I mean, I always thought Bioshock, Mass Effect, Portal, God of War, Grim Fandango, MGS, Half Life 2, KotOR, Team Fortress 2, and Fallout had good voice acting, but no, I guess I just have awful taste.
Thanks for opening my eyes!
many people ask for an epic story voice acting would assist to build up story better i think voice acting is the way to go,without it would be another zelda game. nintendo should be smart enough to accomadate both sides of the party keeping link mute and have audio.

The game is a long way off.
Any info about it is a long way off.
Would it be so hard to cut back on the "new Zelda" threads? It just goes round in circles, quite tedious really.
Wait and see anyone?Â
I don't see why not.
There should have been voice acting in Twilight Princess. But then again, a lot of things should have been TP...

After seeing those two now I'm super definite Link shouldn't have a voice. His hyaaah!s are good enough for me. As for the other characters, all i have to say is don't give Ganon a high-pitched squeaky voice. Its funny, but doesn't work with GanonPlease Log In to post.
