"Over the past 30 years Taito's been remaking and updating Space Invaders with wildly varied levels of successes and failures. Space Invaders Extreme is a certified hit and easily the company's best effort in contemporizing its ****c property. The game's an absolute steal at 20 bucks on either the Nintendo DS or the PlayStation Portable, but if you want the definitive version of this fantastic ****c revisit, the Nintendo DS version is it."

DS: 9.0
PSP: 8.5

Interesting.

I heard this game was gonna be good but wow. I might pick it up. It's interesting that the DS version is better but i'm glad there are still games this good coming out so late in the DS's life cycle.

I hear the DS version's better because the PSP version lacks leaderboards and multiplayer, both present in the DS version.

I have the demo version on the PSP and I must say I never liked the original Space Invaders even know I'm a huge Top Down Shooter fan but Space Invaders Extreme is amazing.

I have been keeping an eye on this game for a bit, but I didn't think it would be as well received as I have seen by some.

I certainly will be picking up a copy or reserving it tomorrow when I reserve a few other games. My local EB is always behind for releaseing titles, so I wouldn't be surprised if I reserve it tomorrow after work and have to wait a month .

Interesting. I wonder why Arkanoid failed so poorly, coming from the same dev.

I read the review, and apparently ut;s quite mediocre, guess the lack of the paddle really hurt it. Heck, I was gonna get it, until I disvcovered the paddle was not included(And importing the paddle for just one game is simply not worth it)

As a gamer who remembers seeing his first coin-op "PONG" game, and then the first 'wave' of "Space Invaders", this just proves the point I make on these boards perrenially - And that is that gameplay, not graphic perfection, is what matters in this hobby first and for-most... I saw a video review on another website that made the game look awesome, like a combination of "Lumines", "Space Invaders", "Galaga", and a host of others all rolled into a nice $20 package.

No-brainer purchase.

I reserved it today after work, and I can say I'm happy I did. I just so happened to get the regular clerk I always seem to run into whenever I go, she asked me about what I was pre-ordering (had some other games on my list too). She said she had a chance to play it already, and it really is a great addition to the series.

I remember when I was little, I had this handheld Space Invaders thing. I'm not sure how old it actually was, but it was this huge gray rectangle, with a fairly large screen that used lights to show your ship and aliens moving back and forth. I remember it took four AA's I believe, and was actually really fun. Couldn't find a picture, but I had a lot of fun with it as a kid. I haven't really played Space Invaders since than, so I hope this newer Space Invaders fills the void.

I'm gonna have my brother check it out for me before I decide if I should spend the $20 on SIE. I'm not a cheap b-tard, it's just that I've already got a whole list of games to get this year and it's not one of them.
