Now I love Super Mario Galaxy and all. But I do hate Spring-Mario. All that power up does is make what would be simple, fun platforming into a chore. Wether it's due to his inability to stand still, or his need to time jumps absolutely perfectly to actually jump and not just flop over, Sping-Mario seems to be leading the world in making easy platforming frustrating. I almost lost my voice yelling profanities at him. Not to mention it's just mario surrounded by coiled metal, very little aesthetic value there.

Anyone else feel my pain?

At first I was slightly annoyed, but once you get used to him he's fun to bounce around. :)

I just took it as another challenge to overvome which I welcomed because I was flying through most of that game too easily for my liking.

True. It takes a delicate touch to control him. Once you master it it's not that bad.

I don't like him either. He wasn't especially bad to control, but it was frusterating to always move. It would be nice to be able to deactivate it or something.

I really didn't think it was difficult and I actually kind of like it. People like games to be too easy for them nowadays. Don't you guys remember the old Mario games on the NES? Those were by no means easy and were much more frustrating than Super Mario Galaxy.

I'm all up for more difficult games, but making a level harder by saying "you have to jump from A to B, except now your character is a lot more awkward to control!" is a poor way to add challenge.

I thought it was a pretty interesting power-up, but it did get frustrating after a while. I hated how you have to fight a boss with it though. Stupidest thing ever.

I wasnt crazy about the Spring Suit myself, but I learned to deal with it. if you go back and read GS's review for Galaxy, you can almost infer that the Spring Suit was the main reason it was a 9.5 instead of a 10.

Did everyone forget what all Mario games are like?????? You get like 20 lives, cruise through level after level, without dying, complaining the game is easy, then you get stuck on some stupid part and lose most of those lives. No Mario game is really that hard, but there is always parts that slow you up.

For me i was stuck on the Daredevil comet on Melty Molten or the matter splatter stage. Now that I replay them, they arent nearly as hard, but that is the fun in a mario game.

IMO, this was by far the best Mario game ever made, next to Mario 3 and Mario 64, nothing is perfect, but complaining about getting 3-4 stars of the 120 is better then having a 360 and and GTA 4 frezzing all the time(my friend and my bro have had that problem, pretty bad when only 3 of my friends have a 360)

With every power-up, there is surely a "catch," and that catch is that Spring Mario can be unwieldly at times like a real spring. Fortunately, Galaxy has few places where Spring Mario had to be used, so I am not complaining about his moves.

At least they didn't make you do the luigi purple star as spring luigi... The little bit you use him though it wasn't as bad as you described IMO. you just have to time you jumps and plan your movements two bounces in advance.

It's not that I found him impossible to use, it's just..unnecessary. Why include a powerup that just makes things more frustrating (regardless of of the extent), why couldn't there just have been a rabbit suit or something that just made mario jump higher? I know I'm nitpicking at what is a fantastic game, but adding challege to a game by giving you a wonky-controlling character is dumb.

I like it when Mario wears the spring suit. Bouncing very high is very fun, at least to me.

You know, it's hard to say something is annoying without being called a noob who shys away at the slightest challenge. I beat the spring mario stages, but it doesn't mean I liked them, and it doesn't make me a noob either. I honestly just think it is one of Mario's not-so-good power-ups that hopefully won't be in future installments.

Has it crossed your mind that maybe the spring mario is supposed another obstacle to overcome and not a powerup per se? Cause that's kinda what it is. Or do you also complain about pits, conveyor belts and enemies?

You get used to him. And it's probably the only thing in the game that wasn't perfect.

I skipped a few posts in the thread to be honest, but I agree, spring mario was one of the few things that prevented the game from achieving perfection in my opinion.

I think the game is overrated, so I am not trying to brag....

But I didn't think that Spring Mario was remotely difficult to control. The only part that made me tear my hair out was the upside down tower that filled with sand. I eventually gave up because the inverted axis while turning tight corners upside down just didn't float my boat.

I think Nintendo intended Spring Mario to be that way. They could've made him easier to control, instead they opted for a more challenging way, once you get used to the power up, it is pretty fun to play with.
