Ha, what you have to do is resist the urge to buy it when it first comes out and wait until it goes on sale for 30$ instead of 40... (not that I can say that I did this...I bought it fairly close to launch as well)
If CTDS sales do become satisfactory, i bet SE will then announce "Chrono Cross on PSN!!!" with really big titles and shiny bannersfunsohngDon't forget the fireworks.
Luckily my cousin bought it and he didn't like it so he gave it to me.Ha, what you have to do is resist the urge to buy it when it first comes out and wait until it goes on sale for 30$ instead of 40... (not that I can say that I did this...I bought it fairly close to launch as well)

An attempt to promote sales is one thing, to treat a potential sequel like a hostage negotiation is another. A comment like that is not going to boost sales, if anything it will cause a decline.
Well I bought it because I had never played it before, but fans of the series aren't going to pay friggin' $40+ dollars for 14-year-old port. That's the reason why I haven't bought TWEWY yet--I'm not about to pay $40 for a DS game. It's just not going to happen. I had a gift card for Chrono Trigger, but Square is being pretty rediculous here.
The reason Nintendo can do a port and it'll sell a bajillion copies is because they always make substantial changes, and always reduce the price. Square did next to nothing new with the DS port, and their offering it for extravegant prices.
I'll admit, though, I'm glad I bought it. Probably the best RPG I've ever played.
So you're saying they're overpricing their games, and you wouldn't buy one for $40 because it's overpriced...But you DID buy it?Well I bought it because I had never played it before, but fans of the series aren't going to pay friggin' $40+ dollars for 14-year-old port. See, the trick is to actually read what I wrote. I had a gift card for Gamespot, so I didn't have to pay a thing for Chrono Trigger. If I hadn't had a gift card, I would've never bought it. Plus, I was trying to say that, for the most part, this price isn't going to attract fans of the game who played the crap of it back in the day.
For example, my favorite game of all time is Zelda: Wind Waker. If Nintendo does one of their famous Wii-makes for it, I'll buy it, because it will be cheap, and have great new controls. Am I going to pay $60 dollars for it ($10 more than the average Wii game price)? No way. Remakes should always be given a bargain price, IMO.

I see...Sorry, I didn't understand fully what you were saying at first, but I see you had a gift card. Wait, there is such thing as a gift card for a single game?Die, Chrono, DIE!!
I really do hate that game. It's totally over-hyped, as I've said countless times before. I just don't like the constant back-tracking I have to do in that game to get to where I need to go. It's endless and long, long, long. And the fighting style. I'm guessing it's somethingpsychological that I don't like any game with a battle style similar to that of Chrono Trigger's. I'll have to look into that.

It's supposed to be great. And besides, it's not my money". Glad I did.

Nintendo charges just as much for games. The only difference is 34.99, but they don't reduce the price.Dear consumers,
I know that if you know about chrono trigger it's because you more than likely already own it (or at the least played it), which means you've already paid for it once (and experianced it). I would appreciate if you pay would pay for it again at the traditionally high Squeenix price of $40.00 for the DS version. If you feel you can not comply and buy the same game twice I will have no other option than to shun you by announcing I will not be announcing it's sequel in the future. While it's understandable that you'de not want to purchase the same game twice, in all honesty it's leaving me a bit chippy here as I feel it's my right to flat out just demand your wallet if I so choose. Consider that and then realize I'm a kind and friendly god, and that I would never demand something like that of my followers.
We had considered that maybe a sequel might sell much better because it would be a follow up to a legendary status game that fans have been wanting more (and new) content from for a very long time.....but, we threw that out with the other bits of logic and instead filled our chalk board with "money please"....Unanimously we all found this much more to our liking, and it even recieved a fews pips of uncontrolled excitment followed by hand clapping and laughter by all.
With this said, I could have went the route of not saying anything at all and just not making the sequel, but myself and various staff members felt that a message to consumers by way of a vieled threat would suite or purposes much better.
P.S. Packaged along with this threat is a bottle of vaseline, you know the routine.

I would like a new chrono game, but with their current attitude I dont want them to do it now. Square Enix is really pissing me off.

Screw Square-Enix...
I bought Chrono Trigger on the SNES new...
I bought Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy 4 package on PS1 new...
I bought Chrono Trigger on the DS new...
They either make a sequal or they won't. People want it...so they probably won't.
Ouch, you bought Chrono trigger for all 3 consoles? What made you do that?? The DS version has a few changes and maybe 1ending...I wouldn't have done that, I bought Chrono Trigger because i don't have it for the super nintendo or ps1.Screw Square-Enix...

Even though years ago I had played it to death...I couldn't resist buying it yet again for the DS.
And the only point in my saying that I bought the same game 3 times is that Square Enix has made an obscene profit off this game already.
If they wanted to make a sequal...they would, regardless of Chrono DS sales.

Its what people call spiritual sequel. Pick a game in development, add some cameos, stamp the name "Chrono" on it and laugh while you got a vastly increase of sales than you would originally get.[QUOTE="chefstubbies"]

Yes, Cross is a "true" sequal. There are storyline elements that tie the two together...but the gameplay itself is vastly different.
Maybe they should lower the price to $19.99 like everyone else does when a game gets old. I know that's what I've been waiting for. At first I just didn't pick it up because I wont pay $40.00 for a DS game, then after a while I realized that the game had been out and expensive so long it was bound to get cheap... Still hasn't happened. All the other series do this and they keep pumping out games... ala Phoenix Wright and Castlavania to name 2.
I have shown as much support as possible for Chrono Trigger, I bought the game three times, once on SNES, PS1 and DS. I'm done supporting the final fantasy factory we call square, or at least i'm done supporting final fantasyuntil they do something else. I remember when they didgames other than final fantasy, but recently the only example i can think of is TWEWY, and I'm not sure if it was more jupiter than square.
