Square-Enix's new IP is announced for the 3DS

Heroes of Ruin

Heroes of Ruin, a new game coming to 3DS from Square Enix and n-Space (Geist, Call of Duty DS games).

So far, the only news released about the game is the scant info above and this artwork. So, we know there's a huge beastly guy with tusks strapped to his wrists, a sword-wielding cat warrior, a redhead elven-looking lady, and The Hood from Marvel Comics.

JC speculates that this could be "a Gauntlet thing," some sort of co-op dungeon crawler. I was inclined to agree, but then someone on GAF said he's getting "a Shadowrun vibe", and my excitement broke free from the iron chains holding it down for years — a measure meant to protect it from the disappointment that always comes.

Very interesting, N-space usually do have good handheld games, and it'll be cool to see what they do with the 3DS and this project.

I love 'gauntlet things,' when well done. It'd be pretty great if they made a good quality dungeon crawler with online multiplayer support.

These are not my words and was taken from nintendo3dsblogdotcom Heroes of Ruin was revealed yesterday and we have the first details. The game supports up to four-players, each of whom take on the role of a mercenary. You can customize weapons, armor, and class abilities and completing parts of the game allows you to gain new items for customization. The game features online co-op play and voice chat that allows you to drop in and out when you so choose. It's also been confirmed that the game will support SpotPass in the form DLC such as daily challenges.F0urTwenty

Chrono Trigger's one of the best games ever made. Square (and SquareEnix) have tons of great games. They also have tons of sucky games, just like most companies. Even Nintendo puts out some crap games now and then. SE is definitely one of the top companies though, up there with Nintendo and Capcom and the other big names that put out huge titles.
