Hello all! There's a lot of SSBB Hype going around recently since the site redesign which promises daily weekday updates (www.smashbros.com)
And a lot of this hype seems to based on Characters - people analysing Musicians lists to get some vague implication of possible appearances.  But I think an important aspect of SSBB has been overlooked completely.

ITEMS!

So my question is simple:

What Items do you expect in Super Smash Brothers Brawl?


Are there items in Super Smash Brothers Melee you want rid of? Or maybe changed for better balance?
Are there any new items you can think of?

I've come up with a Blue Shell
which hovers for a period of time, and then targets the player with the least damage percentage and collides with the player to give 50% and a good hit.
The Shell can be blocked with the Shield, but imagine the paranoia that sets in when you see the Blue Shell hovering above and have a quick look at the bottom to see who it's going to hit.

A Chain Chomp, when its chain is picked up, will drag the player around on the platform it's in, keeping the player immune momentarily.  If its chain isn't picked up in time however, like the Bob-omb, it will set itself off, visiting many platforms and damaging all.

Yes, what are your thoughts?

This isn't so much of an item idea, but what if on one of the F-Zero tracks (asuming they'll be there) at one point in the battle had those coloured sections (from F-Zero games) that reduce damage taken.

Yeah the Blue Shell is great. But, what about the stages. I would kill for a Pikmin themed stage. If Captain Olimar isn't in the game (that would be terrible) they should have a pikmin item. Occasionally there stems pop out of the ground you pluck them out and hurl them at your enemies. The red ones are just the basic projectiles. The yellow ones clap on you opponent and slows him down. The blue ones hand you an item when you pluck them out of the ground. The white ones (there rare) poison your enemies (similar to the flower in melee). And the purple (there super rare) send your enemies flying off stage.

HAH, that's an awesome Idea! I can imagine the dash to the sides/center of the screen to indulge in the pink's healing abilities!

Also, consider the newcomers to the series, and what items they may bring? Snake's Stun Grenade can reduce all characters hit into a "Broken Shield" state, prime for pulverising.

Wario could bring a "Form Baton" item where all 4 players have to do split screen minigames ala Wario Ware: Mega Party Games on the Gamecube! Whoever goes out first is home runned!

I can see it now! Similar to the "Party Ball" from SSBM, an Onion would come out a capsule and plant 5 stems below it.  Everyone dashes to try and achieve the valuable projectiles!

I would like to see a lightnig bolt. whenever u use it, it would shock all the players except the one who activated the item and they all turn small. like in mario kart. Good Idea?

I'd like to see a Thwomp. When a player activates it, it goes up in the air, and randomly hits a player.

I'm sure you're aware of the new Item recently revealed the Gooey Bomb:

I think it's an amazing item idea - trying to run into other characters in a deadly Tag game. Fingers crossed however, that they won't replace the Proximity Mine - nothing like getting triple kills from a well-concealed one :)

Also, take note that (I believe) the Gooey Bomb is not an item in any previous Nintendo game - so let's think outside the Nintendo universe people :D

Another item: the Cannon
This item essentially forms a cannon-hole in the stage that any character can fall into. When a character has fallen into it, the cannon rises and rapidly rotates from left to right.

Pressing a button shoots you out the cannon in the direction the cannon had rotated to by this time. The momentum from this Cannon would be similar to the effect when Ness PK Thunder's himself - causing damage to other players hit. But be careful that you don't propel yourself off the stage!

It would be cool for Characters to be able to ride Rambo for a short time, while impervious to damage but in constant momentum... think the Giant Hammer in SSBM, but Rambo the Rino.

And an item that transforms characters into paper form making them light weight and easy to KO for a short time period.Â
