I love what Nintendo is doing and im of fan of the SSB series. I haven't played SSMB in a year or so, not because im done with it or bored - But this does not make me wanna play SSBB a whole lot more. Innovation, innovation, did you forget something? If I want to play the same levels I pop in my GC games. Give me some new maps for crying out loud! They're not the leased interesting. And that stupid ninten-puppy keeps appearing in my mind. SSBB is turning out silly and not as good as it could be. -And what's up with the super-powerups?

If you can't analyze these; All of them follow the exact same lineup.

Are the last too too hard? They are straight and flat.

First of these aren't even half of the stages that are going to appear in the game not to mention stages from the third party. and as for the super moves I think it adds a little more depth to the gameplay. as long as the controls aren't bad I could see this game as a wii classic.

ok, I just want to get this straight. you're complaining that a game you've neither seen nor played isn't made well enough, because the levels in said game are crap. you've only seen 7 of the levels available and the last installments of said game had nearer to 20 levels. while complaining about the design of the levels, you also mention the presence of an item that you don't like. one item. items in this game not even being a required part of the game. you also complain about the levels lacking innovation, when they add a feature (by way of disintigrating level sections that react to the fighters on the level) not seen before, and have not stated that this will be the only new thing added to the game. as proof for your argument with the level designs, you supply images of levels that may or may not even be similar in any way (in the majority of the examples, the "may not" option is the one present).

does this about sum it up?

oh, and for the last question you asked. yes, the last 2 are hard. if you've ever played SSB you would realize that a flat surface provides a level where there is nowhere to run or hide. while that may not be for you, it's an environment that me and my friends have always loved.

At first they were disappointing me a tad, but they've gotten better, and I'm sure they will still provide the frantic gameplay that we all know and love. Maybe they were just getting the simple stages out of the way..?

Yeah, as everyone else has said I'm sure these are not even a quarter of the new levels. I mean compare SSB to SSBM look how many courses the first one had compared to the second one, and how many characters were playable. I'm sure they're not gonna dissapoint us. And like you've said "They're like the old ones" What's wrong with sticking to a tried and true formula?

I also really like the flat stages, sometimes they're fun to play on.

Its not a matter of whether you and your friends like the Final Destination stage, I do too. But just because these only make for half of the levels, they still "got away" with recycling half of their maps makeup (like 3 platforms and a stage floor) from the previous game. Have you played SSB on N64? The controls are almost 100% identical to those of SSMB. Innovation is about doing new stuff.
I understand perfectly that it is nice to stick to a known formula, and that you might not like changes, but this is the third time in a row they may be repeating that formula. Throwing in a couple of new pick-ups and such does not make a game new, and by far make it fresh.

All of these are good additions but i still want to see something new happen to the series. To me those stages are nothing but a new background, and those won't do much good in a fight.

The maps are fine as they are. You're not going to have a super huge map with hiding spots, it doesn't make sense. It's a fighting game, not a hiding game. So you take a handful of basic stage templates and throw in things to add to the variety. The Final Destination templated stages are my favorite. Straight out fights with no platforms to get in the way. It's practically the best stage in SSBM.

The Smash Ball is a new item. Personally, I like the idea of it. If you don't, you can probably turn the item off. The same goes for Assist Trophies, since you seem to dislike the Nintendog so much.

I actually prefer the simpler stages. Smashville, Lylat Cruise, Yoshi's Island, and Mario Circuit are my favorites.

The person made the post last year.

This discussion doesn't have any point since he's talking about unfinished stages compared to what the final product was.

Yeah but how often do people check the dates? :P

I mean if you're SEARCHING for a thread or post then check the date but you'd think all the posts on the front page of this forum would be recent.

Actually I have to disagree about Nintendo just releasing the same games, if you feel the need to argue again about the controls making the game exactly the same. Notice how all first person shooters controls are almost remotely the same? Dont get me wrong isnt COD4, Halo3, LOZ : TP The same game with better graphics and a new story? Games that are usually a sequel tend to be the same with some added stuff, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Anyway to be on topic, all SSBB stages have their own unique feeling to them. Compared to all the other SSB games, Id have to say Brawls stages are easily the best. Saying you "Think" the stages are dissapointing is just your opinion, not a fact.

Yes, isn't that exactly what the point of a forum is?Giving yourOpinion? If I said it was a fact I made a mistake.

did you seriously just try to compare melee's termina bay with brawls delfino plaza? PeterPerson

I admit those have for some reason been compared unjustfully. I do not see what the quality has to do with it though.

his discussion doesn't have any point since he's talking about unfinished stages compared to what the final product was. Jaysonguy

-And how do they differ from the final product?

I think some of you are missing my point. When you look at my comparison you aren't suppose to look at two different maps and try to figure out why they supposedly look like each other. (And forget the background)

It's so damn easy to point out places where the map appears to be based on the exact same concept. I am only pleased to say that the destructibility of some and addition of many other maps is a great.. addition!. But you can't deny my point.

---

That aside, I am still very exctied to get to play it. Only 26 more days :P

Those aren't nearly all of the stages, and all of those Brawl stages have effects.

OMG all the stages in Street Fighter are straight and flat!!

OMG all the stages in Virtua Fighter are straight and flat too!!!

OMG all the stages in Mortal Kombat are straight and flat also!!!

See a pattern here?

Also, why did you bother bumping this thread? I'm sure everyone already forgot about it, no need to bring it back just to make yourself sound like you've never played a fighter before.

Oh I read it all. I read every part of it. Especially the part where your only argument was that the game is too similar to the last ones. I responded by noting that all fighters use a similar formula.

Your argument is a very poor one. From what you have explained, you basically said that "the levels are straight and flat", "the map appears to be based on the exact same concept", and "the big N gets away with releasing the same thing".

So? Every company in the industry makes sequels in which many of the additions are more content, more levels, more modes, online play, etc. That's what a successor is: an improvement over the last installment.

What kind of new things were you expecting exactly? What can they do in terms of level design in a fighting game and still keep it a fighting game?

Lastly, and most importantly, I'll ask it again: Why did you bump a year-old thread? If anything, just start a new one without the outdated information of the game. That way, maybe you can at least adjust your argument into one that is relevant today. Now that we know all of the stages in the game, your argument is no longer valid.

Very well, I give in. I've thought about it, and can conclude that I have become more demanding of changes to the games I play.
