You probably don't have to!

If you have a store close to you that price matches from any/all ads of other companies. Print this out! That's $30 for the brand-new premium version!

If you live near a Toys'Rus, they are having a buy one get one half off sale on ALL Wii/DS games to ever be put into their system, including this week's arrivals! This sale ends Saturday and works in-store or online! Of course, if you didn't like this week's offerings, you could always slip in Little King Story. Quite a steal at $25 (for another month or so anyway)

If those two fail, and you still want the Trilogy you can always check out amazon.com, which is showing the title at $46.99. Certainly below MSRP and usually accepted at your local mega-superstore. I don't know how they can get away with free shipping though, the game weighs like a brick. I know Nintendo is trying to protect this part of their legacy but they took things really literally.

And, if you live in Canada, sorry. I'm sure the lack of sales have nothing to do with unemployment rates and wage freezes, but you should cherish your 3 wii games for a freebie deal at EB games. If they had that in America I would be rich, which I'm sure is why it doesn't happen here.

I don't think it is worth $50......... 2 ports and a rerelease isn't worth it.

I like how people took your post offensively. You're basically paying for two games that came out 2001-2004 with tact on controls and nothing else new. $50 is overpriced if you ask me, $30 is the sweet spot when I could get them both used for that price or cheaper.

I don't.

I felt like Dick Gumshoe, realizing he could save the case with information he stumbled upon just as the decision looked final.

Now I feel like my finding just caused an arguement to go on that I didn't understand in the first place and want to distance myself from.

But I CAN'T, because I presented it and thus are held accountable for all actions afterward.

Now I understand, I'm not hardcore.

Well, that's what you are paying for when you get the regular version, but there is a collector's version of Metroid Prime Trilogy that comes with a special, metal case, special artwork inside the case, a booklet of previously unreleased concept art, and in the concept art booklet it sheds some light on the story of the Prime trilogy. I'd say get that one, that one is worth it, and it is only $45 on Amazon. Now we just post the link to the Amazon thingy: Link

And now the official Prime Trilogy website with info on the collector's edition: Link

I might get the Collector's edition if it's at an EB though, because I could just trade in the old games.

Edit: Made the links easier

Edit: My bad, it's $47 on Amazon for the collector's edition.

They're the same games, only things changed is widescreen support and Wii controls. Other than that your purchasing the same game from 2001-04

and if we did? Do you really expect us to want to pay $50 for the same games with new controls? The only Metroid Prime game I haven't played is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and I'd rather buy that alone than buy Metroid Prime Trilogy seeing as how I already played the other two. The topic creator is simply offering a more attractive deal and convince us to buy the game. It's ridiculous how people took the post so offensively and started blurting out "It's worth $50".

My my people are getting testy in here.

I already pre-paid the game over a month ago, and with all the pre-order bonuses, yes it's worth the 50 dollars to me.

Seems like people are just using this thread as an excuse to beat the "its a repackaged ports" horse again under the guise of price.

In reply to tagyhag:

You seem to be missing the point here. What I'm addressing is that the topic creator is trying to convince people to buy Metroid Prime Trilogy by offering a chance to get it at a lower price than usual because he probably believes that some people just aren't buying into the whole Trilogy release when they already have many (if not all of the games). Why would we, if we have bought the entries in the series, buy this again for $50? It makes no sense and people already are trying to convince everyone that "it's worth the full price" and "there's this and that in it".

I'm sorry but, just so I can view the game in widescreen, look at all the pretty colours, make "small refinements" to boss encounters which were probably fine in their original form anyway, and use the Wii controls does not warrant a $50 purchase of the entire trilogy to some of us. The topic creator was merely trying to convince us that we can get around the full price yet all he gets as a response is that it's worth $50 and such. He was advertising the game yet it seems like no one even bothered to listen and some disregarded the topic entirely and just posted it to throw their two cents in about how the game is worth $50.

In reply to TaMuk711:

I'm sorry, but I never mentioned in my post that I was referring directly to you. If you already pre-ordered the game, you're getting all the bonuses and you're missing one or two (or all) of the entires in the series then I have no problem with that. I do hope you weren't thinking about me when you say "people are getting testy in here". I'm also not beating the "repackaged ports" horse. In fact, this is the first time I've even talked about the Metroid Prime Trilogy and it's none of my business if Nintendo prices the game $50 since I'm not planning on buying it anyway. It's just really quite annoying when people come in here and try to justify the $50 price tag when the topic creator wasn't even trying to discourage us from buying Metroid Prime Trilogy or saying that the price isn't worth it.

$30 is a rad, RAD deal. But rats. :( I didn't even know about that EB Games deal. Thanks for the tips, I'm sure there's a few Wii games I can dump in exchange for, well... three games!

The problem is....... none of those make it any different than the GC version.

No problem! :P I guess I shouldn't have been too general with my comment. If you've never played the first two games (and barely played the third one for that matter) then that's definitely a reason to get Metroid Prime Trilogy ($30, $50, or whatever the price may be :P)

I'm buying for $50 because it's worth it and Game Stop doesn't match prices, but I just got my friend Trilogy and COD 6 for $75 (or $95 for special edition) because of this.

Why are people getting mad about this thread? It's good info. Thank them for it. *Thanks them for it*

@zaku101

Most of those are aesthetic changes, but the controls do make a whole lot of difference, You have to play the original games, and then the Wii one.

@Platyphyllum

"...because he probably believes that some people just aren't buying into the whole Trilogy release..."

Keyword in your paragraph being: "Probably" I thought the TC was just trying to be nice :P

"some disregarded the topic entirely and just posted it to throw their two cents in about how the game is worth $50"

The first few posts just said that the $50 were worth it, nothing more. Then the thread got derailed by a fanboy. :P

randomwiiplayer

They aren't direct ports. Infact, Prime 1 and Prime 2, have changed the most from all the NPCs. You have bloom, slightboss changes, changes to hud, and whatever else the Nintendo Channel said, Wide screen and what not.Prime 1 and 2are worth more than the other NPCs, which are 30$ each. Metroid Prime 3, before MPT was announced, you couldsell it, at the very very very least, 30$. So you have savedat the least amount,40$.

I made this topic because for the last few weeks I have been trying to point out that new games go on sale very very quickly now. Pointing out that by waiting a week or two and you can get a game half-off (or some cases for free). But there is something I need to point out that nobody here seems to get.

When you pay full price for a video game, you are not giving your money to the developer. This is because THE STORE YOU BOUGHT THE GAME FROM ALREADY PAID THE DEVELOPER FOR IT. The only thing you, the consumer, are doing is paying the STORE you bought the game from. By buying the game on sale, you are giving the store the opportunity to buy more from the developer by clearing shelf space for more copies. The price you buy it for has little effect on the company itself until the item goes clearance. At that point THE DEVELOPER STOPS RECEIVING MONEY while the store sits on old merchandise and tries to cover at least even on remaining stock.

Therefore, each and every person here arguing that they are showing support by paying full price are wrong, except tamuk, who paid in full before the game shipped because all of his money went directly to the developer to order more units. If you want to truly support the developer of the game, buy direct, not through intermediaries like an average consumer.

Yea, I took up on that offer. My g/f picked up Batman today and got the $30 gift card. She then went to use it on metroid and they told her that she can't use it for at least another 6 hours. Grrrr. She's stopping again on her way home to attempt it again...stupid TRU. edit: I thought it was a toys r us ad you had...guess not. BUT ANYWAY, if you buy Batman (360 or PS3) today at Toys R Us you get a 20 or $30 gift card. They also have buy a wii or ds game and get another and 1/2 price.

No one expects you to pay for anything you dont want, but they expect people who do want it to pay 50 bucks. The games may be old but they are 3 massive games, and there not even 1oyr olds yet so I would say for people who want it, 50 bucks is fair price. Anyway what Nintendo should have done is just make a Metroid Compliation game, and had put every Metroid game on it. That would have probably been the greatest compliation ever, on par or greater than things like Mario All Stars and That Legend of Zelda bonus disc that came with Wind Waker.

I like how people took your post offensively. You're basically paying for two games that came out 2001-2004 with tact on controls and nothing else new. $50 is overpriced if you ask me, $30 is the sweet spot when I could get them both used for that price or cheaper.

zaku101

I've never played any of the games before. $50 for 3 games that have around 80 hours of single player gameplay (which is MUCH more than what most games have now days) seems like a great deal to me.

Totally noble what you're doing. I think it's radical. But I will also say that it's worth more than 50 dollars for me. Ipickedmy copy upas soon as Gamestop opened up this morning. But I hope your thread helps any others who read this save some money.

It is worth 2 crappy games(The Conduit and M&S Olympics) and a $10-$20. Because that is what I'm trading in to get it :D

The problem is....... none of those make it any different than the GC version.

zaku101

It has gameplay and presentational upgrades - besides that - yes, they are the same games that released years ago - and yes, they are still some of the best gaming experiences on a console - and yes, they play a lot better now.

You get, for $59 (Canadian) - a collectors edition that is free of charge and three games, including a Wii title that goes for $49 still - It is a damn good deal and damn worth the price.

I don't think it is worth $50......... 2 ports and a rerelease isn't worth it.

randomwiiplayer

Upgraded ports, andall three games separately would cost at least $80. That saves you $30 or what ever all three games would cost together.

SirSpudly
I am sorry to burst your bubble, I work at Fred Meyer where this ad is present and good at, and know for a fact it was a misprint, the games are and will be $50 at our store for awhile, we have been mad busy all week telling people of this misprint and correcting our mistake, so $29.99 is "NOT" what you will get it for but regular price. And to tell you the truth I sold my Primes awhile back ago and all I can say is that the regular price is a fair price especially for 3 games that are full of depth and exploration, not to mention the graphical, widescreen, and Wii waggle controls tacked in.

I how a few people say Trilogy isn't worth 50 dollars. It's like being offered your three favorite meals of all time for the price of one and complaining about it.

I definately thinkt this compilation is worth the money for myself. Sadly, the first Prime I have played is Corruption. After playing, I wanted more so I borrowed my friends Echoes only to find myself horrified by the controls. I got a good ways through, but had to stop torturing myself.I'm glad I waited for this compilation. I can actually enjoy what were clearlysome of the best games in the industry.

Also with these controls, The metroid Prime games become the most emersive games ever! You ARE Samus directly behind the visor directly controling her arm cannon. Not to mention the incredible atmosphere.

They're all old games and they are all missing online multiplayer.

If those favorite meals had been left in the freezer between 2 and 9 years like the games were, I'd politely tell you no thanks. There would be reason to complain about it. It's not like the trilogy had new game effort and budget. In this case, it's leftovers with some slight adjustments. Would you pay full price for leftovers?

I paid $40 for it, which is what I think it is worth (2 bargain bin titles and an aging one). I would gladly pay $50 for a newonline multiplayer Metroid Prime game (especially ifyou could engage your ship inspace battles).

Wouldn't anyways; got Corruption for 30 bucks used long ago. I could always go to gamestop and get Metroid Prime 1 and 2 for five dollars each.

[QUOTE="zaku101"]

I like how people took your post offensively.

SirSpudly

Now I understand, I'm not hardcore.

i appreciate you sharing your information. anytime you find sales information on a game that many people would be interested in purchasing please post. i love to save money. especially with something i am considering to purchase. i'm a state government employee. i am not rich by any means. people can debate on whether or not a price is appropriate for the game and you are not accountable for it.

So, Has everyone forgotten that these are all games rated 90% and up on metacritic, each was worth around $50 when they were first released, totalling around $150, and now they have been upgraded with touched-up graphics, a new and vastly improved control system and unlockables. Plus, they come in a collector's edition tin can with an art booklet, which would cost extra for most games.

And you are complaining that the price is too high?

You're paying less than $17 dollars for Metroid Prime, Echoes, and Corruption, which is still selling at $50 in most stores.

$17 for any Metroid Prime game is a steal.
