I noticed that every time I do a streetpass, in the "Notifications" section of the 3DS Menu, there's a number for the different titles that use streetpass.

For example, a couple of days ago, I did a streetpass with someone, and it said this in the Notifications:

"StreetPass Mii Plaza 1/10"

"SUPER MARIO 3D LAND 1/3".

What are the meaning of those 1/10 and 1/3?

Does it mean that I can only get 10 tags for the plaza at once?

If that is true, what happens if I get an 11th tag?

And how am I supposed to get 100 streetpass in one day with that restriction? It makes no sense... do I have to keep checking and "use" the miis in the plaza every time I get 10 tags? And what about games like Super Mario 3D Land, Dead or Alive Dimensions or Resident Evil Revelations?

What do the 1/10 and 1/3 mean!?

The StreetPass system swaps data to and fro systems, and it will only pass available data between games. No doubt, there is likely a file size limit that Nintendo incorporates into the system (or suggests) for each game to remain under. The reason is, StreetPasses are to be "quick" in nature, where only a few KBs or maybe a MB or two is passed over per game. Depending on what the games do with the system, they create a limit, so you can only hold a certain amount in the "Extra Data" that is created in your SD card folder. This folder houses the data, and isn't loaded into your game until you boot up the game. So in essence, when you have a 1/10 for Mii Plaza, it means you cannot get more than 10 Miis visiting your system. A game like Kid Icarus has 50 tags available, and you cannot get anymore gems until you've booted the game up, and emptied your bag. In the Mii Plaza you have to boot the game up and see who visited you. Essentially there is a limit to the amount of passes one can receive until they boot the game up, so the game will copy and save the system over from the Extra Data menu before it clears it out.

Yeah. Streetpass was a brilliant idea, but it is not utilized right. It has so much more potential. I wish it had a bigger range like the Vita does too.
