Whens Zelda DS out, i am wanting to find a use for my DS as it spends most its time on a shelf gathering particals of dust. I wonder if the DS will produce something good in the next year of releases. Zelda looks good but i see little or nothing much else happening on Nintendo's highly successful duel screen system. So are there any games i should really take a look at, games that are on the way???????????Player1984
I own 25 DS games that are "Must Have" titles. If you don't own this many, then your DS should not be collecting dust. Even if Zelda: PH is the only good game to come out in the next year (which it isn't), then you have a lot of backtracking to do. Simply put, the DS has more to offer right now, than any other system on the market, including the Xbox 360. I can say this because I own them all, and this is how I feel.

Seriously?!?! If that's so (assuming it is), then possibly you have chosen the wrong console. Seeing as the recommendation thread has existed here for quite some time, I'll assume that you have taken a look on it. If not, it would be wise to do so. You might also want to have a look on the "2007 games you won't want to miss" thread. But assuming what you said (the fact that you would want something similarly exciting to Zelda), then you should really wait for E3 happen to happen on July. It is there that all the companies make all the major game announcements. Hopefully, on E3 we will hear about the release date of the Phantom Hourglass (Zelda Ds)
the ds does not offer more than other systems, it offers dumbed down bad games in general and both the xbox 360 and psp offer more. i have had all the so called "must have" ds games, the marios the metroids etc whatever but they only have depth for the younger gamers in my "HUMBLE OPINION". Where as the xbox 360 cant be compared to a handheld, but one of you above compared it so on that note: the xbox 360 has countless fps racing games and other great games that wont ever ever appear on a nintendo wii nevermind their successful handheld. Halo 3 anyone, are you telling me the ds has better games than that. Psp also has better games, the fact it costs more is the reason why many people go for the cheaper option. Metal Gear POs, GTA Vice City, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (a playable version...i played the ds version....tis unplayable)...Killzone liberation, grand turismo(future title), burnout, tekken, daxter.......the list goes on.
Metroid hunters is crippling to the hands, Mario Kart lacks the fun found in other versions of mario kart, New Mario Bros gets older than the 20 year versions....and thats playing for a week. 20 year old version better. Pro Evo Soccer...does not work on the ds, its not even a rival for the ps1 versions. Racing games are few and far between, Asphalt 1 and 2 are poor and handle like a dog....LIKE A DOG, pac and roll....dumbed down, kirby paintbrush.....dumb.....moving a stick about a screen....fifa ds.....poor, the most basic game of football out. animations terrible.
So don't give me crap like "I have 25 ds games and they are all must owns" your head must be up a very dark place if you can convince yourself that...there isn't 25 must own games on any of the newer consoles yet and the ds will never have 25 must owns. The gamecube never had 25 must own titles. Listen the Gamespots most recent podcast. They begin to list the best games of gamecubes life and struggle after resident evil 4 and eternal darkness.....theres a few others that come to mind like Metroid 1 and 2 but really.....it was a poor 4-5 year period where nintendo would give us a average version of a game.....Mario Sunshine....bad camera, mario kart....why have two people in the same car.......zelda......oh the water....just when i accepted the art style they had to have you hunting in the water.
So i don't think you will read all this but it had to be said. Im glad there are actually so many people happy with their ds. ive been wating since launch for a game to get my attention, something that you can immerse yourself in like Zelda on the 64 or a big adventure game of another kind....something original. My hope has been met by basic touchscreen based games, with 2D graphics on 90 % of the games it seems and not alot of depth.
Defend it all you want. Gamecube failed and although the ds is making millons and shifting units...it does not have the quality that true players want. there is nothing on par with the games from the N64 era....apart from the port of Mario 64. But Reggie, nintendo's genius will say everything is alright and they will deliver the goods.....but he could sell anything...and when your not happy....he will convince you with sales figures and what not. Enjoy.
So it wasn't a stupid question.....not if you look at what we have had to use on the ds. Not much. Lets wait another 5 months or more for the next "Perfect Game"......That will be Zelda DS: PH.
Wel player 1984, you've convinced me! Guess i'll go sellup and join the ps fanboy group!
Seriously though, the DS has got some great games, but just because you don't like them doesn't mean every1 is going to agree with you. I love the fact that all the games are so playable and mostly unique! I cant say the same for the psp, theres not much you can do with a psp that you cant do with a ps2. The psp is designed to be a portable version of a ps2, but frankly i don't think people want to be playing those types of games on the move. I enjoy being able to have a laugh with my ds and prefer it than to continue playing my ps when i go outside. I think the psp is better for playing around the house and im guessing thats mainly what you do with yours, but whats the point in that if you have a ps2. i play my ds when i have a few minutes when im out the house it offers alot unlike the psp.
As for the Xbox 360, its absolutly brill, it's the best console out for gaming, but its not a handheld. So your right don't compare it to a DS.
Chivers
I highlighted your comments in bold.
1. next to no one is agreeing with me.
2. "all the games are so playable"....really, all of them, every single one....even the GBA ports with touchscreen capabilities.
3. Sure, no one wants to play games that look like they are as good graphically as a PS2 on the move. You will never catch a PSP owner on a train somewhere or a bus playing Metal Gear Portable Ops. Or Gta.....it doesnt happen you are right.
4. "laugh with my ds".....i would rather laugh AT my ds...it come more naturally.
5. I play my PSP outdoors more than indoors....thats a matter of fact.
6. Finally......"i play my ds when i have a few minutes when im out the house it offers alot unlike the psp". Yes i must agree the ds offers alot unlike the psp....like move playback.....great online modes in games such as mario kart ds........and animal crossing.
Ds also alows you to buy a package that alows the user to go online and a another package to get mp3s to work on the ds.......PSP COMES WITH THOSE LITTLE FEATURES ALREADY.
Never assume people do this and people do that.....they will tell you and you will look the fool.
End of discussion......Advance wars GBA on a DS with 2 screens is waiting for you.......enjoy the game.
Just a question to DSfanatic.. what are the 25 "must have" titles for the DS?
Not being sarcastic or anything, but I own about 20 games, or so.. and I try to get THE best ones through research and whatnot. Not only to get games that I'll really enjoy in every facet, but to ..well, save money and not buy duds, lol.. although I did buy ONE dud (Mario Hoops: 3 on 3), all the games I got I've enjoyed immensely.
And, not to turn this into a system wars topic, but the Xbox 360 (and its predecessor) really don't have much variety. The great games they got are multi-platform and they lack significantly great titles in the RPG and Platformer genres. Likewise, the Cube has mainly first party support (7 out of 10 games are first party) ..so that leaves the PS2 having the largest variety of gaming choices, including multi-platform and, what the Xbox lacks, exclusives.
At any rate, there's a bit to look forward to on the DS.. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Mega Man ZX: Advent and Wario: Master of Disguise, just to name a few.
Oh, and to gamer1984, get your facts straight.. right out of the box, the DS can connect to online gaming, it needs no peripherals for such a feat.. and it focuses more on gaming than the PSP does. The PSP is an awesome portable, don't get me wrong, but I enjoy a portable that focuses more on gaming and has a quality library, instead of just a half dozen titles that are amazing, and the rest that are decent.
silence, you child, i have a psp and i never asked anyone to list games already out...so dont list hunters ect. now get the head down and research for me, im above all that...go on. report back. im the king and your the serventPlayer1984Your a new poster. You are no better han the mat I use to wipe my shoes. jk but seriously, a little research goes a long way, by not ticking off other people who can actually typ in 4 or five words and click a couple times.

Player1984
get my facts right, ok....let me make it clear moron. Does ds give you access to go and browse the internet. for example...visit Gamespot.com. NO. you have to buy a software package to get the opera browser.
Owned.
TO THE OTHER IDIOT......."enjoy my load times"......good one, i don't mind waiting for something good to come along. You must be refering to the PSP load times.....not that bad, if you had one you'd know.
Owning a DS lite i have known all about wait times.....not load times....wait times is when a gamer waits for some game delevlopment companies to get the finger out.....i.e Nintendo.
And finally.......to the person or persons saying i should have went to the system wars for this topic.......i say to you NO. I was asking if there was anything esle coming to DS that was good. and then you lot got defensive about your Duel-screen machines......
Please read the topics or don't reply.....really i think you should be silent. I am the voice of reason and it is my divine right to have my way and what i say is the golden truth......you will bow to me, kiss my sword and explain your sorry selfs to the one and only.
