Awesome! I'm hoping this brings a lot of attention to the Wii U. This shall be my first game for it.
Hopefully it'll be able to overcome the awful title.
Who will be the main buyers of this game?
Children and casuals
What will they be given when they ask for 3D Mario?
money to nintendo has no face.. green is green...whether it be casuals...or hardcore gamers
Hopefully it'll be able to overcome the awful title.

Can hardly wait to get my hands on it, personally. They could have picked a better title, yes. The same could be said of the Wii U itself. Not going to stop the game from being great.
It makes me sad it is humanly impossible to play two games simultaneously.
I was happy with starting with Zelda and then moving onto Super Mario 3D World, but then all the reviews came and now I am wishing I could play that first.
However, if I were to decide on playing Mario first, I would probably feel bad for not playing Zelda first.
So yeah, I hate Nintendo for releasing two awesome games on the same day and making me a confused gamer. =P
Hopefully it'll be able to overcome the awful title.

I know, right?
You'd think Nintendo would've learned their lesson 20 years ago, when absolutely nobodybought Super Mario World for the same reason.

Congrats, you've given me the worst argument this month.
Care to try for the year?

Guess I'll have to fill you in, then.
Nintendo have been using this naming convention for 20 years now. 'Land' refers to the handheld titles, 'World' refers to the console titles (or 'Land'/'Country', in the case of the Donkey Kong games). The similarities between the names have never affected them in the past.

Something simple like putting '3D' at the end would have been better; Super Mario World 3D
This will probably be my first WiiU game besides Nintendo Land. Had the system since last Xmas. Game looks beautiful.
No love for New Super Mario Bros U? It is awesome!
I'm surprised you've owned the system since last Christmas, but have only picked up Nintendo Land for it!
I probably would have gotten Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 myself. And, of course, NSMBU.
@KBFloYd:
That is impressive, but Gamespot got rid of the .5 system with their new update, however the games already with a .5 stays as a .5
@Jaysonguy: Here's an argument: who gives a crap about the name? It says Mario on it. That's all anybody really needs to see to drop 60$ on it. Being the highest rated game on the system doesn't hurt either.

1. The score means nothing to Nintendo's buyers. They don't know what they mean or where to find them.
2. The name is important because kids will be asking for the game and whoever goes will have to hope they get the right one. As far as casuals they have no idea. They just see Mario.
@Jaysonguy: I am so sick of you crap. jaminator's right. You are a chronic whiner. If you hate Nintendo so much, then go over to your PS4/Xbox forum?
So what if kids get the 3DS game? It's a good game too. Plus if for some reason, it's wrong, they can exchange at the store. A couple years ago I wanted Sonic Generations for my PS3. My dad, while well meaning accidentally got me the 3DS version. I didn't have a 3DS at the time so I went to the store and asked to exchange it for the correct one.
Children and casuals are not idiotic baboons who know nothing of electronics. My dad and stepmom got a Wii for themselves recently because they wanted some fun cheap party games to kick around with. I offered to hook it up for them as my stepmom admits to not being good with electronics and guess what? These "casual" gamers hooked up the Wii all by themselves. How? They read the instructions and watched a how to video thanks to google. Not bad for a bunch of dumb casuals huh? So if the dumb children and casuals can do this, I'm sure they can get the correct game or exchange it, if it's not.
The boxes are different sizes. One has a disc. One has a cart. If a kid gets the wrong one, he'll probably tell his parents. They'll go to the store and exchange it. Most normal, functional people can do this without being "hardcore gamers." Plus most good store employees who do their job right, will make sure customers get the right game as long as the customer conveys their message well.
It was like a comment someone made about the WiiU system update and it being "confusing" to casual gamers. Yeah, because the masses don't own computers or smart phones or ANY sort of device that might require system updates.

As opposed to teenagers and manchildren, or brah gamers? What's your point?
Oh that's right, you don't have one, you just troll for the sake of trolling.
Oh, look at all your "I have no answer to Jason's facts"
When you're actually able to engage me feel free to comment, but barbs like that one only make you look weaker.

I'm a working adult, and a hardcore gamer, who's going to be at the Xbox One launch buying Mario and Link Between Worlds. Where does that leave me?

I was thinking about that as wellt ot roll all the XB1 people. I have the LoZ 3DSXL Bundle pre-ordered, but it's raining pretty hard here so I'll probably just pick it up tomorrow.
On topic though, Jayson loves to try to piss of Wii U owners. That's his thing. If you pay attention, he will never respond back to a post that proves him wrong.

It's all in good fun. I read his website from time to time, and if you read enough posts (especially the rare one's where valid points are made), you can see glimpses that most of these outrageous posts are just to get a rise out of the over-sensitive internet posters. Once you stop letting complete strangers get under your skin, the internet becomes so much more enjoyable. There's nothing wrong with seeing a proverbial puddle of gasoline and being the one to throw the match in every now and then.

That's slightly amusing, coming from a guy who is alternately ignoring or childishly responding to all of the valid responses to his inane comments.
I just don't get why "children and casuals" are terms used as a form of degradation. It suggests some odd mentality that a certain teenaged-and-up group of gamers who play "M" rated games are somehow more valid or legitimate than others who are in the same hobby.
Just spouting such terms probably means the one using them is a very insecure person who suffers from illusions of self-grandeur.
Can't wait. Gonna pick this up tomorrow morning along with A Link Between Worlds. Gonna be tough to decide which to play.
Have you guys seen this story?

Hard to say how true it is, but seriously, if someone went to Gamestop or Best Buy to get Mario, let them get what they came for. I heard a similar incident happened back at E3 when Nintendo had playable demo kiosks at select Best Buys where at one store an MS rep was basically making a sales pitch to people in line to play the WiiU demos.
And why would MS see Nintendo as such a threat anyway?
I miss when we had enough users here to get instant feedback for pretty much every game release. Anyone play it yet? How is it?

I got my copy of SM3DW from Gamestop just now. The clerks talked about how highly the game was praised and rated. I can't wait to pop this game in my WiiU, it'll be like Christmas morning.
@kbaily: I think that a satire website.
Yeah, I'm also certain that's a satire site. Just look at the titles for its other posts.
Let's see...I spent many hours playing Borderlands 2, Dishonored, Skyrim, Mortal Kombat and many other games over the last year or two. You know what else I've spent many hours playing? Wonderful 101, New Super Mario Bros. U, Zombie U, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 and Skylanders. They're all great games that are a lot of fun to play. I'm pretty sure I'd be considered a hardcore gamer by most people's definition. Will I be picking up Super Mario 3D World? You're dang right I will. It will be a really fun game and if it's like most Mario games, it will be extremely difficult at times and require many deaths to succeed. Real gamers know Mario games are legit. If you say otherwise, you're just a little immature and need to grow up some or you're just blinded by fanboyism for other systems. I think it's safe to say that the main buyers of this game will know what they're getting into and they won't be children or casuals.
Hopefully it'll be able to overcome the awful title.

The stock market is a funny thing. I don't pretend to understand it but this little story popped up:
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-mario-zelda-games-help-nintendo-shares-reach-3-month-high/1100-6416344/
So despite 2 big next gen console launches and everyone singing praises of how doomed Nintendo is (which we've been hearing since the N64 days), Their stock prices went up. Now I don't pretend to be an expert on the workings of the stock market but basic knowledge tells me that when stock prices go up that's a good thing for a company. You'd think after these big launches for Sony and MS, their stock would go down.
I don't know if anyone here watches Video Games Awesome Live. They were doing a live playthrough of this (as Frasier put it to cheer them up over the horrible time they had getting their Xbox One going) and they found a major glitch which long time Nintendo fans know, finding a game breaking glitch in a first party Nintendo game is like a shiny Pokémon. It's extremely rare and almost exciting when you find it. We may recall the last major game breaking glitch in first party title was Metroid: Other M where this one door wouldn't open to let you continue.
I guess this could be considered SPOILERS. Oh well better safe than sorry.
The glitch in 3D World was found at the final level of the second world. They were playing 4 player of course, reached the end of the tank parade and entered the pipe to Boom Boom. For some reason Toad, Luigi and Peach all landed but Mario landed last and was bouncing on their heads and no one could move. The in game cutscene of Boom Boom appearing won't start until all four players land and you can't pause and restart the level until all four players land (namely so someone doesn't try to restart the stage when they're falling down a pit) so they were stuck in place having to wait for the timer to run out to restart the level the entire time Mario just bouncing endlessly on the others heads. It was funny as hell. Luckily when they did restart the level, it didn't happen again. But it reminiscent of the "Ouch Ouch Ouch" glitch they encountered in Ducktales Remastered.
At least now with the WiiU, they can always release a patch to fix that now.
