hey I really love this game. Is there anyway I can legal play super mario brothers 3 on 3DS?

are they planing on a VC of super mario brothers game that was on NES or maybe GBA?

There has been no announcements on NES or SNES games coming to the 3DS's Virtual Console, so unless its remade as a 3D Classic, there's little chance of Super Mario Bros 3 appearing any time soon.

There has been no announcements on NES or SNES games coming to the 3DS's Virtual Console, so unless its remade as a 3D Classic, there's little chance of Super Mario Bros 3 appearing any time soon.Raiko101

I'd be willing to bet money that they'll make it a 3D classic eventually.

The next console that the eShop will add is the GameGear. Nothing else is announced for the future.

lol and they never said they were not adding snes or nes games, they just said gbc gb gamegear and tg that dont exactly mean they wont do that,

infact if they add gba games, that could very well be one of them

They have said that there will be no overlap between 3DS and Wii virtual console releases and that the 3DS virtual console will be all handheld releases. the rereleased 3d classics are not virtual console releases and as such have none of the limitations.

It's my favorite Mario of all time, but I don't think I'd want to play it again in 3D, because after seeing Excitebike in 3D, it really doesn't add much to old games. I recently played SMB3 again in the Super Mario All-Stars 25 anniversary for Wii, and that's good enough for me.

If Nintendo doesn't eventually release SNES, N64, GBA, and DS games on the E Shop, they're idiots. Or stubborn idiots. I know they've stated they won't release console games, but there's no real reason why they couldn't emulate SNES games other than they're too lazy to. Which may be a fair decision, as the kind of people who would buy SNES games there would likely complain that they can't redownload their Wii VC purchases for free on the 3DS. (Which is a reasonable expectation in this day and age)

Yeah. I'm also hoping the new offerings will be better than what they put out on DSiWare. I've got a handful of games from that service, but it was really a matter of just buying mediocre stuff because that's all there was.

Yeah, and that way they can support both the DSi and 3DS.

That's your fault. The Wii handleds the console games(like it should) while the 3DS will handle the portable consoles. Either deal with it or get a damn Wii.

Just FYI guys super mario bros 3 will be released near the end of 2013 on 3ds check it out in the Nintendo Direct 8.7.13 video you can find on youtube!

I still stand by this comment, made (oh man) over two years ago. Nintendo are idiots for not releasing SNES, N64, or DS games. I'll give GBA a slight pass - but barely - because of the ambassador stuff. I also cannot believe they have not implemented a proper account system, even on the WiiU where they had no such 3DS of excuse of 'oh it wasn't built that way.' edit - also, all of our Virtual Console purchases should be completely playable and transferable across every Nintendo device - if I buy a SNES game on the Wii I should be able to play it on my WiiU without having to transfer everything, and I should also be able to play it on the 3DS because there is no reasonable excuse for not having SNES games on there. I mean, if I buy a PS1 game on PSN, I can play it on my PS3, or my PSP, or my Vita, all the accounts are the same and my downloads work on any of them, plus each system has emulation support for that system. What I STILL wouldn't give for Nintendo to have something similar.
