Just read an article courtesy of Destructoid where they got to use it an explain how it works,

"I got to check out SMG 2at Nintendo yesterday and one of the new things that was revealed to me wasGalaxy 2'sversion of the Super Guide feature seen in NSMBW. There's actually two systems in place to aid players: Hint TV and the Cosmic Guide.

Mario will come across special TVs in levels which will show him how to get across certain sections. In one of the levels in the Fluffy Bluff Galaxy, there's a large open space that Mario needs to get across using the cloud suit. Hint TV will show the player how they should tackle the obstacle presented to them. Once the tutorial-like video is over, the player is free to proceed as they wish.

The Cosmic Guide isGalaxy 2'sversion of the Super Guide. If a player finds themselves dying too much or is stuck in an area too long, the Cosmic Witch (pictured above) will come to the player and give her assistance. You'll be able to jump right back in at any point if you let the Cosmic Witch take control of Mario with the press of the + button. Using the Cosmic Guide, however, will automatically give players a bronze star instead of a gold star.

These helpful additions toGalaxy 2means a harderMariogame, just the way I like it." -Hamza

I personally don't care all that much, never even saw the SG in NSMBW once so as long as it doesn't get in my way :P I guess its good to see that Nintendo is pleased with it and are willing to support it in their upcoming games!

Yes You can see them use it for a second in the new teaser.

BTW i really really hope his final sentence is true. I'd like it to be a little bit harder. Just a bit.

Well, I have a feeling it is harder now. But people shouldn't go nuts regarding the Super Guide because there are online walkthroughs and guide books.

How could the Super Guide get in your way, its not like it could wrestle you down and take your control lol. But yeah I saw it in the trailer and recognized it right away as the Super Guide.

cosmic witch... it's just rosalina with cosmic mario's texture  BTW, "bronze star"? does it mean you will be able to run through the same stars multiple times to earn better ranks? *what's left of the mind that blew up with the new trailer blows up*

Meh means little to me aside from that it has probably been helpful in finding the balance between high difficulty and accessibility.

lol, I really think it will only matter to completionist, it will go down as a stage you didn't you beat, but since you don't need all 120 stars it can only matter to the individual. I don't think there will be any like scores for levels, but who knows maybe there will be.

considering i'm on my third super mario galaxy run (100% with mario and luigi, now going for mario again), a ranking system would be pretty cool :P

I really don't see the obsession with making this title needing to become harder. Definitely not set in stone that harder = better.

when you have a more complex, intricate challenge that isn't cheap, then you can get more fun out of it because of the higher difficulty.

but from smg, the fun I had was going through the fantastic level designs, not necessarily because it was difficult. I'm not against it being harder, but I don't see smg2 being funner simply because it's "harder," which by the way I'm still questioned if it really is going to be much harder, if any harder at all, than the first.

even better level designs can appear from challenge. you've seen what they're doing with SMG2. the challenge is providing an even better level design.

I don't mind that the Super Guide's in it, just as long as the reward for not using it is better than it was in New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Having all five of the stars on your file sparkle was cool but kinda lame at the same time.

It better be worth it in Super Mario Galaxy 2 :P

I don't think you get what Super Guide is for, its not some cheat system that they want you to resist using. Its something there in case you need it. They are not obligated to give any kind of reward for not using it. Bruno the regular star is gold, its silver when you already got it lol.

I know what it's for :P

It's for casual players who aren't good enough at Mario games to be able to get through the game themselves. It's a help feature and completely optional to use. You're not forced to use it, however If you do use it though, or even if you only unlocked it in New Super Mario Bros Wii you wouldn't get the sparkly stars on your file and you'd have to start a brand new file over from the very begining. The whole point of not using the Super Guide is to show how skilled you are at Mario games. Miyamoto even said himself that they wanted a way to reward the players who didn't have to rely on the Super Guide.

If they're going to incorporate it again in Super Mario Galaxy 2 I just think they should reward players who don't use it with something a little more meaningfull.

I didn't even the notice the super guide thing and I don't think it needs a reward. Especially for NSMB, because if you played MP you could die 50x in a stage and never see super guide or any kind of "punishment" as I guess the lack of shiny stars is suppose to be viewed as. Do people really need reassurance like that? I would think having beat the game 100% is an indication of your Mario prowess. At least that's the way it use to be, now a days people need to reassured that their awesome at everything :P If the bronze stars are different from the regular stars, it would likely end up being beating the game completely would have to be your reward, Shocking! lol

Super Guide seems like one of the best things Nintendo has made this gen, pretty much gurantees (spelt wrong) Galaxy 2 will be hard.

I love the Super Guide feature, even if I will never use it. So I am glad it is in.
