I am a long time gamer and I can tell when a game is easy or hard for my sisters and brothers to play and I have to say Mario Galaxy is to hard for them. They often call me to do most of the levels of the game. I may have to return it.

Well kids don't like to play a game they always die at, like I said they call on me to help them which I don't want to do, so they just do something else. So having a game that no one plays is a waste IMO.
Okay, so what was the point of this thread? The game was never yours, your siblings suck at games, and I'm suppose to care?ozzsoad
haha
No the point of this thread is to help people who have younger children who want this game to say it is very difficult for the kids and for them to rent the game first before they buy it. Use some sense.
Obviously you do care otherwise you wouldn't have responded to this topic.

Yeah, I cared when I assumed the game was yours and you were letting your siblings play it. But no, you bought it for them and you're letting it collect dust because you don't want to help them and you're too good for the game.
If returning a perfectly good game, one I currently claim to be one of the best ever made, sounds reasonable to you, then do it already. Don't waste our time.
That's all I have to say to you, have a nice life.

Honestly, you saying that you "don't want to help them", is probably fueling them not being interested in getting better at the game. You sound like you're more annoyed at having to help them then they are at dying constantly.
I, like the other poster, have been playing Nintendo games since the original Mario was released.
I remember when I was a kid I had to ask my older cousins to help me out with hard points in games like Ninja Gaiden, Contra, and even some levels in some of the Mario games. They showed me what to do, I learned, and got better ... plus I had fun playing with my older brothers.
If you take the time to play with your siblings, show them how to play, and help them learn, they'll get better at the game and will probably enjoy it more. It'll make your investment worth something.
If you're one of those guys who just doesn't want to be bothered ( which is how you come across ), or someone who thinks a Mario game is below them ( which is something I've heard 360 and PS3 fanboys say ), then you're doing a disservice to your younger siblings.
Sure kids don't like dying in games all the time, but they love it when their older brother help them out. Use this as an opportunity to bond with your siblings, don't simply take the game away because you don't want to be bothered.
Maybe I'm speaking like that because I'm a tad older with more life-experience, but still, it rings true.

It would seem to me that the entire root of the problem with violence in games and censoring comes from this same sort of attitude. This idea that we should be able to buy a game and just let children (of any age) play it and not be concerned with paying attention to them or, heaven forbid, playing with them.
They're your siblings, not your kids, I realize. But maybe you should be playing it with them and encouraging their minds and skills (both social and hand-eye coordination) to develop in healthy and meaningful ways, rather than just letting them "figure" it out on their own.
What's more, that is the point of the Wii. It wasn't developed to be for kids to play, necessarily. It was developed for people to play together, as groups of friends or a family activity. That's even one of the reasons the Revolution was re-christened the Wii; a play on the word "We" because it is meant to bring gamers together and take gaming out of the realm of single player and make it a social activity again.
My advice; let it be a family activity.
let me guess x360? X360 sucks. It's not for me. I brought it for my siblings to play not me I have another console that I play.

if kids don't want to play games then who cares? why should they HAVE to get better at video games, if anything let them do something else because its not like playing video games is the best hobby in the world7CloudStrife7You have a point if the kids aren't the ones asking for the game or wanting to play. But I think they do want to play. The case in point though is they suck at it and want the next level without earning it. The flaw comes in at giving them something for free (doing it for them). Of course the giver thinks they are helping where the child is actually not realizing their own potential or giving up. If the case is different, and the game giver gave it to them and they really don't care what-so-ever to play, then heck I'm all for it. Let the kids go outside and play instead.
I am not claiming that I am to good for the game I said I don't want to play it for them which I brought because they wanted the game. And I said that I do help them, but I don't want to play the entire game for them I want them to learn as I did when I grew up with no one helping me. I had to figure out the how to play games myself.shadowfox55
Just because you had noone helping doesn't mean they have to live the same way. They're fortunate to have someone at their exposure ( you ) who can help them out with the game.
Don't take the controller away, instead, sit next to them and talk them through it. They'll develop their skills, learn the game, and get to spend time with you. Plus, then your purchase will be worth the money you spent.

They don't make a hobby out of video games we go out and do stuff like play soccer, go to the movies or the mall, etc. But my siblings wanted this game to play so I did the big brotherly duty and brought for THEM to play. They both can help each other out instead of me playing it for them. I try to point and tell them where to go, but they just give up and give me the controller to do it for them. Now I know they can't beat the boss which I will do for them. But the main reason why the game is so great is because it rotates around the levels of the different galaxies and worlds they can go to and play on.

So what? You might as well play it anyway. Or make them play it. Kids these days are so spoiled.

Then tell THEM to play it and go lock yourself in your room. They will get the hint you don't really care quicker that way. Nice touch with the 'but I bought something for you' bribe to make you feel like you care. They don't make a hobby out of video games we go out and do stuff like play soccer, go to the movies or the mall, etc. But my siblings wanted this game to play so I did the big brotherly duty and brought for THEM to play. There's nothing nicer than a brother who buys something for their younger siblings, so that they can shut them up and use it as an excuse to not spend any time with them while they get off to the graphics on their PS3.
Trust me, you won't believe me now, but in 10 years you're going to wish you took full advantage of spending time with your younger siblings helping them play the game.
I guess that comes with maturity ...

do what you want with the game, but don't bother warning people off no one who buys games for siblings goes on here

Do you like the game?
When I was about 7 or 8, the only 'easy' game was Duck Hunt for me. I could never make it to the final level in Super Mario Bros., where as my older brother and cousin often finished with no problem. However, the difficulty did not discourage me...I think watching them play games or us playing together kept my interests and if you're interested you'll keep trying and get better.

Well, Nintendo does it's best at making a game that can appeal to everyone. My son who just turned 6 loves SMG. He has his own save file and gets most of the stars on his own. But I do help him with some levels, when it is Co-Op or just me helping him through a tough part. But I wouldn't return it, let them play it and practice. The game is amazing, I'm sure that if they are like my son, he is more happy to play the game then whether or not if he collects all the bonus starts.

It's called Play Station 3
Do you even know its name?
I thought he meant the PS2. They have a third one now?! I agree with Ken. I'm done with this now.Interesting how this discussion has gone for the difficulty level of Super Mario Galaxy to bashing the 360. I was curious about this since I wanted to get the game for my little cousin. She was a big fan of SM Sunshine so hopefully she will like this. I am a Wii and 360 owner and am very happy with both systems.HokiePorterHow are they bashing the 360...?
ok.....getting back to the difficulty of the game........i'm 22 my opinion is that mario games are for all people but aimed especially for young people....... if i comment on super mario galaxy i say that the difficulty is average since u dont have to finish all stage to complete the game ......but for the others stage ......now there are some toughies out there....some special comet stage can be quite difficult .......btw i'Ve done 3/5 of the game and had maybe 10 stages that were really hard.......
It's not for me. I brought it for my siblings to play not me I have another console that I play.
shadowfox55
but you see this is by far like one of the best games of the year IMO and ANY GAMER should not miss this fantastic game, do NOT return it
