I'm about half way in Super Mario Galaxy now (about 50 stars), and I don't play that long each time, about an hour or so. I've had three times that I felt a little bit dizzy after about an hour, especially when I'm playing quite focused (like with some of the bosses). When the gameplay is a little slower and I can play more relaxed, the problems don't really show up. It really is a shame, because I haven't had this before. I played quite some adventures and even FPS without any problems, also in multiple-hours sessions. Also, I'm playing Okami now, and I don't have any problems at all, even though the camera isn't very consistent in that game.

Did any of you ever experience motion sickness with Super Mario Galaxy? Or with any other game?

Link's Crossbow Training gives me that sort of feeling if I play too long.

:( Must suck for you. I've got motion sickness from a few games. Most of them tend to be cell shaded (jet set radio, Killer 7). I also get it when the frame rate is really inconsistent.

Yea, you find yourself turning you head sideways as Mario runs around, this game made me dizzy, but you get used to it.

Yeah, it really sucks because I love that game. The only times I got it before were in the old MSDOS shooters like Wolfenstein 3D and Blake Stone.

I've never gotten motion sickness from Mario Galaxy, but years ago I used to get motion sickness badly with pretty much any heavily pixelated first person shooter.

In Super Mario Galaxy,it took a few minutes in the first level to adjust to the shifting camera and walking upside-down,but after that, virtually no problems. In the original Metroid Prime, however,I can get nausea after more than half an hour of playing, depending on how I feel beforehand.

I think the first world affected everybody. Chasing those bunnies was a chore because I had my head twisting every which way trying to orient myself. When I first played it I was worried the rest of the game would be this hectic. Surprisingly - and fortunately - it wasn't.

Yes, I did get motion sickness for a while whenever I played this title. But after extensive period of time and as I played more often I got used to it.

And play in a well illuminated room, and take breaks of 15 minutes for each 60 of play :-P Well, this really helps despite it sounding so square

Turn all the lights off

sit a few feet away from your TV

play any Guitar Hero for a good half hour

then look at the floor (with the lights still off)

I swear to gosh, the floor moves!!!!

Yeah, this works. Funny, I thought I was the only one who got this from Galaxy. It was only like this when I first started playing the game, the first 2 days, but then it went away. It's just temporary and it should happen all the time.

how can anyone get motion sickness from a game. its not like your in it, but i can see how people can get headaches from it. all the colors, lights, and sound can effect you. but seriously you would have to be playing it on like a 60inch huge screen to get motion sickness from a game.

The most common theory for the cause of simulation sickness is that the illusion of motion created by the virtual world, combined with the absence of motion detected by the inner ear, causes the area postrema in the brain to infer that one is hallucinating and further conclude that the hallucination is due to poison ingestion. The brain responds by inducing nausea and mass vomiting, to clear the supposed toxin.[7] According to this theory, simulation sickness is just another form of motion sickness. The symptoms are often described as quite similar to that of motion sickness. Some can range from headache, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, vomiting and sweating. A research done at the University of Minnesota had students play Halo for less than an hour, and found that up to 50 percent felt sick afterwards.
