In Super Mario Smash Bros Brawl can you play using just the standard controller? Or do you need the nunchuk aswell?

You have 4 controler options:

Wii remote alone on it's side

Wii remote and nunchuk

Gamecube controler

Or the Classic controler

And it's just called "Super Smash Bros. Brawl." Mario is not in the title, lol. :P

I can only use the GCN controler. I never tried the classic controler though, I can't imagine that being too different. But I can't play withthe Wii remote, with or without a nunchuk.

I think it's easiet to use the Wii remote on it's side without the nunchuck but majority people prefre using the gamecube controller

You can use just the Wii Remote, or use the Nunchuk as well. You can also use the Classic Controller and the Gamecube Controller. Its controller input variety is just one of Super Smash Brothers Brawl's many good points.

I used to use the Gamecube controller but after our house burnt down almost a year ago we got Classic Controllers with our new Wii instead of more Gamecube controllers because they don't sell Nintendo branded Gamecube Controllers anymore and the ones not made by Nintendo are just horrible. We started having problems with them after the first day. The Z button wouldn't work a lot and sometimes it would act like we were pressing it over and over again when we weren't.

I use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, it seems to work fine as I have no real experience with other controllers or the past games on other consoles. Although I did use the remote alone on its side for a while but I after a while I tried using the nunchuck and it felt better that way. I wouldn't mind getting a classic controller to try out though.

Hmm. I did not know you could use the GC controller. I'll have to try that.
