Do some research yourself, Gamespot isn't the only site on the internet you know.

I enjoyed the "story" part of the game. The actual Monkey Ball gameplay was good. The mini game collection that comes with it is not so good. If you like Monkey Ball and you can find it at a discount then it's one you will enjoy.

For this genre of games I much prefer Mercury Meltdown Revolution. The motion controls feel tighter on MMR, and the music/sound effects are much less obnoxious. YMMV

No, it was awful. Controls were terrible and instead of 12 great minigames you get 50 lousy ones.

Pick up Super Monkey Ball 2 for Gamecube. MUCH better.

I agree. It seems like Super Monkey Ball would be perfectly suited for Wii controls, but the execution is far less intuitive than using a stick. Plus, the remote's speaker seems to constantly blare some annoying sound effect or other, and it becomes irritating. SMB2, on the other hand, is superb.

you could always rent it. That's how I found out Sonic and the Secret Rings sucked.

If you are a fan of the original games on the gamecube then you should pick this up.

This was the first Wii game I ever bought and you should be able to get it fairly cheap now (especially 2nd hand), the main game is fine (new controls and graphics) and it's nice to have 50 mini games where various different types of Wii controls are used. However, most of the mini games are not as good as the old party games. The new monkey target is almost broken btw. Some of the mini games you'll play once and then never again.
