well...if im correct, there are two versions of that cooking mama game (wii and DS), its probably a connection between those games but i see where you might pull SPM out of it cuz that game and the games prior to it had recipies and such laterzZumaJones07

 yea i fired up my DS with cookin mama in it but coulfnt find of any way to connect it. tried download play but nothing. anyone find or know of anything???

it means you don't have a cooking card in the game. paper mario games have always used the latest version of nintendo's handheld as a means of non-gaming elements in the game. this sounds like it's a replacement for the guy who cooks stuff for you in The Thousand Year Door (in which, mario had a mail-receiving GBA SP). just proceed through the story mode and you'll get your cooking card eventually, then the DS lite on the wall will most likely turn your mushrooms into HP/FP up combinations and your odd roots into waffles that help you and your partner at the same time and all sorts of crazy combos like that. you'll have a log to collect them all and will be able to submit any food-based item to it.

 also, please don't excuse the people here who think in a single dimension... they smell bad.

so i went into the house for the spicy soup and tere is a DS Lite on the wall. when you click it, it says awaiting upgrade. when you put the flashlite on it, it says to swap recipes but you need a cooking card. does this mean i need cooking mama or what does this mean???whywoogy

i'm assuming it'll get a wiiconnect24 update at some point, though what it will do is anyone's guess. maybe it connects to an as-yet-unnanounced DS game.

THERE IS NO DS CONNECTIVITY IN SUPER PAPER MARIO!

The "DS" in the restaurant is just something you can use to look at different recipies in the game. You have to find a card in the game before you can use it. One is in flipside, you get to it using the pointer to reveal hidden blocks... it's in the area you get to by blowing up the blocks in front of the pipe on the other side of the gate (by the Wizard's house). Please, your topic title is misleading... you should really edit it to at least put question marks behind it instead of exclamations, since you are only ASSUMING it does. Again, there is no connectivity whatsoever.

As soon as I saw that thing I knew the forums would blow up with OMGZ PAPER MARIO AN DS CAN HOOK UP!! topics.... Nintendo shouldn't have even put that thing in the game, people jump to conclusions too easily.
