why dont people understand the meaning of the word "great" i mean...great, that doesnt deter me from wanting the game... maybe GS doesnt wanna give these early games high scores so that ssbb, smg, and mp3 will sweep cuz if these games got 9.3 or 9.5 or whatever we want, then the big three would (by peoples opinions on these boards) have to score 9.7 and up, and if they didnt, people would get mad idk
Read the whole review and judge for yourself. Don't look at the number and base your opinion off of that. There are a lot of other games with a score of 8.8, but if you actually read the review there might be some issues/things you don't like about one while the other 8.8 has things you don't mind so much. And it's been said... 8.8 is an amazing score. I think SPM deserves this rating.
Who cares? I'm still going to get it when I'll have my Wii.
IMO, Gamespot will have a huge road to get respect from me. Since Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 on PS2 got a 10, I lost respect to them. I prefer readers reviews. It's more accurate since it's us "the average gamer" that is reviewing the game.
8.8 is Great, just as good as Zelda:TP. You see, Its a reviewers job to nitpick, and if they cant find anything to nitpick about, then they aren't doing their job well. As you could tell (Tilt 10/10) he loved the game, and as long as you can like a game, Its worth it.

yea i agree that it was too hyped. im happy with the score but i guess i thought it woul get higher cause of the marathon. seemed like gamespot was a little obbsessed with the game.Â
What the crap people!?!?! Seriously!! Your whining over a freakin 8.8!!!! 8.8!!! Thats freakin nearly a 9!!! This game is good! It got a good rating! And this was originally intended for the cube, so it's surprising almosty that it got such a high rating. Seesh, almost as bad as those freakin Zelda fan boys.

Meh, for me personally, anything below a 9 just seems "bad," mainly just because of my very limited gaming budget so I have to choose very wisely between games. I was disappointed by the 8.8, but it's only a score (a very good one) and it will definately not stop me from buying this game. I'm just defending those of us who sometimes "complain" about low scores. Some of us have very low gaming budgets and only can afford the best games!
Its a fair score. of what I've played I thought it couldve pulled a 9-9.5, but GAmespot is always really tough on ratings, so for GS its not too bad. ITs fair, they put on the same level of TP which is right.
8.8 is a good score I thought it might get higher cuz of the hype but its ok. I'm just bout done beating Zelda TP and I cant see how anyone can give a great game like that a 8.8 that my friends is a joke. Zelda TP a 9.8 for me.

8.8 is a great score and it suits the game. the AAA scores are for games that are revolutionary. games that change the way we play games. SPM wasnt revolutionary. It had unique and innovative mechanics but probably wont be the mainstake for the industry. But what they did was very well and it deserves the score it got. i still think its AAA in terms of a PM game, and i think it is very fun.

No but seriously who didnt love the MGS stories?They are awsome in that overblown, quirky kojima kinda' way... hes a real nut:) P.S.I personally like critics who are conservative with the scores they give out. I mean, i don't look at the score till after I've read the review, but its nice when they don't hand out 10s. Gives the numbers some substance if you ask me. Still, the words are what matters.
If you visit gamerankings.com a lot of sites score the game very high, so I know for a fact that many of us who will play Super Paper Mario will enjoy and love the game. The score of 8.8 on Gamespot isn't going to stop me from buying this game. The score rocks and I can't wait to play this very long game! I can't believe many of us see a 8.8 as a bad thing. People are getting stranger.
There won't be many games on the wii to get good scores because the graphics are compared to the other systems and the wii can't produce "10" graphics. That and the sound is what took this game down. Doesn't mean the game isnt awesome though, I'm buying it tomorrow.
I agree with what some people have said here. Personally I think too many games get high scores that don't deserve it, rather than the opposite. Games that get higher than 9.0 should be truly awe inspiring, something well talk about for years to come. Metroid Prime was like this for me. Look, Paper Mario looks like fun, but it doesn't look like "one of the best games ever" that some of you hyped it to be. Its not something we'll be talking about two years from now.
my thoughts is that GAMESPOT will give all wiis highly anticpated games 8.8
cause it gave zelda tp 8.8 and now super paper mario 8.8 and thoose are the two most highly anticapted games out

Look at the gamerankings score . Stop complaining its a Great score . But my hopes where bigger for what it would get, still 8.8 is better than an 8.0 so im happy and will still get it .
I'm suprised how well most, if not all, of you are taking this. I was expecting ":cry: SPM is crap and not high-calibre....." but you're all happy. That's great. I got the prediction right on not only GS but on other sites. SPM FTW!

Well, after Jeffs Zelda review and played the game myself I understand that 8.8 is the highest score a game could get. The fantastic Zelda game scored a perfect 8.8 so according to GS Super Paper Mario is a perfect game equal to Zelda. Its a perfect 8.8/8.8!! Super Paper Zelda!!!
whats to complain about??? do you ONLY buy games if they are over 9 or something?  Sounds like a great game ? Also a better review than the last paper mario game....
