64 vs Melee vs Brawl

This is pretty pointless. They all have the same gameplay, but Brawl has more characters, stages, everything. I don't really think its a fair contest.
I picked Brawl, but I love all the games. the original layed down the basic concept of the game. Melee added a bunch more mechanics such as air dodging and spot dodging, but had many glitches. Brawl basically solidified that gameplay for a much more polished experience.
Oh yeah, Brawl has Olimar so no contest LOL
This pretty much nailed it. I've been playing Melee since day one but never touched it again after brawl came out.Brawl basically solidified that gameplay for a much more polished experience.

Huh? Brawl of course since it's the latest installment. More characters, collectables, levels, more of everything. Gameplay is pretty much the same as Melee but with no mechanic glitches (nothing find yet anyway).
Melee > brawl > 64

Well, this thread ended quickly.Melee definitely takes the cake for me.
I have enjoyed all of the games but i liked Melee a little more than Brawl. I played it a lot more than Brawl also maybe i just played melee too much? I am unsure all i know is that i got bored of Brawl quickly as i played Melee for over a year without even slightly getting bored.
actually the first one is missing things like shield and dodge and several other things. So Melees faster paced action versus the many new editions of Brawl. I'm going with Brawl due to everything they have added in plus its a much more balanced game. This is pretty pointless. They all have the same gameplay, but Brawl has more characters, stages, everything. I don't really think its a fair contest.

in my mind the level creator and story mode make up for the special bonuses. I do miss them however.I felt Melee was a bigger leap for the series overall, which made Brawl's lack of innovation tint my view of it a bit. I was also not happy with how they gimped the single-player mode by removing the special bonuses.

I think you can look at it as to how much you enjoyed playing each game rather than what is the best in technical terms. So.....This is pretty pointless. They all have the same gameplay, but Brawl has more characters, stages, everything. I don't really think its a fair contest.

SSB>SSBM>SSBB
I feel that 64 had the best 'balance' in gameplay and wasn't oversaturated, so therefore I still think it is the best Smash Bros. game. In second place is Melee, which is arguably the mpst fun SB game, and has a good variety of gameplay modes and new features, even if it feels somewhat unbalanced and oversaturated at times. Brawl is kinda messy, unorganized and has poor online, and the character roster could have been better, and things still seem somewhat unbalanced/could be better, but the graphics are the tops.

in my mind the level creator and story mode make up for the special bonuses. I do miss them however.special bonuses were the bread and butter of arcade mode. Why they left that part out is beyond me.what glitches?Obviously Brawl, Melee, and then 64. Brawl is an improvement from melee in everyway including taking out those stupid glitches from melee the nerds cried about. Melee also was a great improvement from 64 for improving upon what 64 had.

obviously brawl is the best, but i picked 64 because it's the one i had the most fun with. Also, it had some of the best stages in the series in my opinion.
[QUOTE="Mike885"]what glitches? Exploits, glitches, whatever. You know what He's talking about: Wavedashing and all that.Obviously Brawl, Melee, and then 64. Brawl is an improvement from melee in everyway including taking out those stupid glitches from melee the nerds cried about. Melee also was a great improvement from 64 for improving upon what 64 had.

Melee. There's no contest.siLVURcross
Yup, I agree with u man... Those who played Melee seriously -using all the glitches such as wavedash- should know this truth. No offense to Brawl lovers, but Melee glitches gave deepness tot his jewel.
SSB64 > Melee > Brawl.
SSB was simple enough and concentrated enough that back when I lived in dorms friends could pick it up after several years of notplaying it and still be good after just a couple of rounds. It also had the best levels in my opinion and the best balance in characters.
Melee, while fun, had some very cheap aspects to it. It's nerfing of original characters and introduction of essentially cloned characters for the sole purpose of increasing the character count hurt it.
Brawl had a good single player and the most characters. Other than that, it pales in comparison to both SSB and Melee in every way in my opinion.
For a few months I have been playing between 1 and 3 hours of Smash 5 days a week, with several other players playing the same amount. In that time we started with 64 moved to melee then brawl then back to melee. After this I will side with Brawl, the controls are much smoother and the games seem to move faster. People complain about poor balance, but I have noticed that among equally skilled players there is no character that gives a distinct advantage, nor is there any item that guarantees a win.
If were talking competitive gameplay than melee but everything else brawl does 10x better than melee or 64. Brawl has an actual story ( a crappy one but still at least there is a plot), more stages, waay better soundtrack, more characters, and online. Melee can't top this.
